Rule: Every show with Machine Rocker is a good show.
Recapped: 07/13/2015
Previously: Mini Psycho Clown asked for a title shot. Electroshock revealed his (purely random) plan. Drago won Alas de Oro. Hell Brothers won the trios titles. Jack & Angelico won Scoria & Cuervo’s hair. Alberto beat Cage, somewhat.
Mascara 2000 Jr. is passed a note – and it’s another clue for his mystery admirer.
A TripleMania XXIII promo transitions into a Cara a Cara interview with Rey Mysterio Jr. & Myztziz, but this one is just a teaser for later.
The annual mass will be on August 4th. This is promoted many times during the hour.
Match 1: Australian Suicide & Goya Kong vs Machine Rocker & Taya Valkyrie
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 06/28/2015
Winner: técnicas (Goya Kong La Rosa Taya)
Match Time: 9:49
Notes: Goya is a debuting surprise luchadora (and they actually don’t give away the surprise in the open this time.) Taya is agahst as this large dancing woman coming into her ring. Copetes is referee. After Goya got the clean win, Psycho Clown came to the ring to endorse his sister and repeatedly point out that she’s his sister. (Everyone else kind of disappeared.) Psycho talked about the greatness of the Alvarados and the Psycho Circus. Villano IV interrupted the celebration to declare his own family better. Goya stuck up for her family, and Psycho got her out of the ring to face Villano IV. That went badly, as V4 attacked Psycho from behind and destroyed him before taunted both Alvarados and challenged Psycho Clown to any match he wanted.
Review: [good] Either this match totally over achieved or the mixed tag matches with Goya in AAA are going to generally be pretty good. They’re all going to be good if they have Machine Rocker. He didn’t start of good, going weirdly against Goya’s spots (not going to all fours, sunset flipping her right away), but doing the Black Warrior off the ropes flip and then the Black Warrior taunt was pretty great and a coast to coast dropkick for no reason was awesome. Goya’s act felt a little different, but meshed well with Taya and they should be fine against each for the next 10 TV matches they’ll have this year. Australian Suicide looked super in an increasingly rare TV spot. Zuniaga correctly used the phrase “shooting star press!” It technically wasn’t a shooting star press, but we’re making progress.
Match 2: Angélico, Drago, Jack Evans vs Dark Cuervo, Dark Scoria, Joe Lider
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 06/28/2015
Winner: rudos (Escoria huracanana Angelico thru a table, Cuervo spear Jack thru a table)
Match Time: 12:08 (6:34+5:34)
Notes: La Secta have a lot of hair growing back already, but seem very strange with short hair. Rudos jump técnicos. Referee is Piero.
Review: [ok] had some cool spots, but also less crowd reaction than you’d expect and some very slow periods with the rudos in control. They had more ideas together, it just didn’t come together. Match structure was weird, with the técnicos making a lot of comebacks and the rudos just ending up control easily after a minute or so. Bringing in ladders and chairs and tables might mean a TLC match coming soon in a different feud, but it could just be Joe Lider’s random props of the match today. Lider seemed to be hurt (more than usual) on the bump into the ladder and was struggling to move later on. He wasn’t selling much, probably because he can’t move. This nearly became the first Joe Lider match in years where the stapler wasn’t used, but then Drago had to go mess it up. This would’ve been a good time to skip the simultaneous pins spot, instead of having Piero delay counting Angelico’s pin for ten seconds while waiting for the Jack and Cuervo to get done. Jack & Angelico’s sequences into the submission holds were neat, though I’m not sure the fans had any idea what had happened.
AAA Flash: Jesus Zuniga reveals Myzteziz and Rey Mysterio Jr. will have a match at TripleMania. Myzteziz says he’s the best, Rey Mysterio says he’s the best in a separate interview. Both are wearing Mission Impossible hoodies, since that’s the sponsorship this PPV. Mysterio builds it as the match everyone’s been asking to see.
Cara a Cara: Rey and Myzteziz
Match 3: Monsther Clown & Murder Clown vs Electroshock & Hijo de Pirata Morgan and Averno & Chessman
Plaza de Toros La Concordia, Orizaba, Veracruz, 06/28/2015
Winner: Holocausto (Hijo del Pirata short armscissors Monsther Clown)
Match Time: 13:35
Notes: Psycho Circus enter last, and Holoucasto attack them. Averno and Chessman join in. First pinfall to a finish. Referee is Maya.
Review: [ok] Not that interesting. Remember when these two rudo teams hated each other? They didn’t! I guess the idea was they each got a Clown to beat up themselves, but it didn’t quite explain why they were not fighting each other. They only got around to it when the Hell Brothers actually tried to win the match, seven minutes in. Match seemed to be long set ups to unimpressive table smashing, which we just had seen in the previous match. (Really, it made no sense to do three of those after seeing the last match, or airing them back to back after the fact.) An Averno/Pirata match would probably be pretty good, though we got about 10 seconds of it here. Hijo del Pirata getting a direct win is a rare event.
