CMLL on CadenaTres: 2015-07-04

Yep.

Yet another boring Tuesday.  It feels like we must be waiting for some good guys to get back in the mix to make things better, but there’s no cavalry coming.

Recapped: 06/30, 07/07/2015

Match 1: Acero & Aéreo vs Pequeño Universo 2000 & Pequeño Violencia
Arena México, 06/30/2015

  1. rudos
    • Pequeño Universo senton Acero (4:24)
    • Pequeño Violencia headscissors armbar Aereo (4:49)
  2. técnicos
    • Acero kneebar Pequeño Violencia (3:10)
    • Aereo flipping fujiwara armbar Pequeño Universo (3:29)
  3. técnicos
    • double pin Pequeño Universo & Acero (2:02)
    • Aereo step over armbar Pequeño Violencia (2:41)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:09

Review: [below average] Lacking minis match; not botched spots but not a lot to go for it, punished for being boring. Pequeño Universo seems to be getting fatter. I didn’t remember a single thing Acero did in this match. Violencia is not terrible, but this is the least promising rudo duo in the minis group right now and the técnicos aren’t special enough to carry it.

Aereo’s finish

Match 2: Metatrón, Soberano Jr., Starman vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Metálico, Nitro
Arena México, 06/30/2015

best part of this show is the reaction shots
  1. técnicos
    • Starman over the shoulder backbreaker Arkangel (7:26)
    • Soberano springboard frog splash Metálico (8:02)
  2. rudos
    • Metálico nudo Soberano (6:04)
    • Nitro crab arm trap Starman (6:19)
  3. rudos
    • Arkangel reverse cloverleaf Starman (3:20)

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 17:41

Review: [ok] Unpromising lineup turned out as expected. Sobernao appears to be getting skinner. I don’t know how that is possible. Soberano was by far the best part of this match, and the guy by far the most over. He could stand to use a little more on his headscissors, but everyone else could stand to improve a lot more. Metalico worked mostly with Soberano and was good at that, and the other four guys were completely forgettable.

Stellar Moments

El Lance: Triton guillotine legdrop Okumura

El Castigo: Olímpico, Ripper, Kraneo give Titan the swinging gate bomb

El Tecnico: Titan top rope headscissors on Olímpico

Lo Espectacular: Titan top rope moonsault Olímpico

La Plancha: Ripper top rope splash Brazo de Plata

    • Ripper layout front cracker Titan (4:28)

Winner: Invasors (2-1)
Match Time: 14:58

Review: [OK] Borderline match, may be underrating it because it was fun at times. There were moments where it felt too familiar (need to start counting the matches with everyone’s cover broken up sequences) and the match weirdly grind to a halt in the second fall, but these guys know what they’re doing and got the crowd back into the show. There were a couple surprising twists of action, especially in the third fall, and the usual amusing Kraneo antics. The result was sad times but the match did a lot better than most C3 matches. Best match on the show.

triple tope
Kraneo calmly fixes things

Match 4: Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, La Máscara vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Hechicero, Pólvora

    • Hechicero conjuro La Mascara (7:37)
  2. técnicos
    • La Mascara campana Hechicero (2:21)
    • Angel de Oro mecedora Pólvora (2:21)
  3. tecnicocs
    • Atlantis casadora Hechicero (6:12)
    • La Mascara casita Dragon Rojo Jr. (6:12)

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:10

Polvora nearly impales himself on the stop sign

Review: [ok] three técnicos capable very repetitive performances fulfilled that promise as a team. Crowd got into it, but it was every match you’ve ever seen with these guys together as one. It’s not that I’ll forget it, it’s that I can’t stop seeing it. La Mascara did forget he was a rudo in this match. It’s impressive how much Hechicero has adapted to what CMLL is looking for (and even just generally figured out what that may be.)
