CMLL on CadenaTres: 2015-04-04

all the quebradoras

recap

taped 2015-03-31 @ Arena México

the staring at each other is the best part

Goya Kong, Marcela, Syuri vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Tiffany: [ok] started off well, kind of ran out of steam, but finished good enough. The first fall was long – the match was long – and the rudas ran out of things to do in the second fall as a result. It’s obvious why they got extra time, but it was surprising to see them not particularly spotlight Syuri. She did some lucha and got the big kick in at the end, but it felt like Tiffany and Goya were in far more. Goya remains way over, even when the cameraman can’t shoot her dive.

Zavala helps Soberano flip one more time

Pegasso, Soberano Jr., Starman vs Boby Zavala, Okumura, Sangre Azteca: [ok] Most of the guys in this match were solidly in Tuesday Gear, a place where every match gets rated OK and I wonder what I’m doing with my life by watching this every week. Soberano & Zavala were actually trying, so that’s neat to see. Zavala is weird in CMLL clearer thinking enough of him to have him win a Gran Alternativa, and then forgetting to do anything with him for years even though there’s the obvious spot in the Revolucionarios open for him. Maybe CMLL is dumb, maybe there’s something we don’t know. He and Soberano had good chemistry here. Pegasso generally taking it easy but still doing a 450 splash (with the normal bad landing on his knees) is why I will never understand luchadors. Third fall was better, as third falls tend to be, and a countout win would’ve worked perfectly here.

Puma kick->superkick is always good

Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tritón vs Kamaitachi, Puma, Tiger: [not rated, but on it’s way to a solid good] Cadena3 feed broke down during this match and I was never able to get a complete version of the match. It seems like to be only missing 20 seconds of video (a lot more of audio), but those 10 seconds are the ends of falls 1 and 3. 1 gets a replay, feed just died as the third fall was happening. It’s hard to recommend a match where the finish isn’t on, but the guys are working very hard all the way thru. Kamaiatchi teams with Puma & Tiger like he’s the Japanese Casas family member we never knew (can’t they just send Canelo Casas back as the red haired NJPW trainee?) and the técnicos finally rise to meet the challen the third fall. There’s a lot of Puma/Tiger vs Maya/Delta matches, they worked a bit harder than most, and the addition of these two extra guys makes it feel a bit different. Triton has a very strong third fall, confident enough for him to try flip kicks he hadn’t tried before. The timing is great and it’s an action packed finish until there’s just no finish.

Hechicero is shook by Angel de Oro’s superkick

Ángel de Oro, Atlantis, La Máscara vs Hechicero, Negro Casas, Vangellys: [not rated] two falls of this made it thru the feeding dying, and they’re pretty standard fare. La Mascara does a campana. Maybe it’s the Leyendas Inmortales matches shaping my expectations, but I can’t believe Atlantis taking northern lights suplex.

Misterioso takes a hard way out of the ring

Titan vs Misterioso: [ok] well, this wasn’t as bad as last week, but Misterioso is not a guy who needs to be in lightning matches. He almost took himself out of all matches with his awkward bump to the apron. Titan’s moonsault looked good and his submission at the end might have gotten over with better officials. Referee had no idea that Misterioso submitted on the Titan’s finish and Titan had to pin him instead.
