great ChilangaMask shows, CMLL weekend results

CMLL (SAT) 05/16/2015 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Molotov b Cholo
2) Espanto Jr. b Sensei
3) La Vaquerita DCOR Reyna Isis
Isis’ Coliseo (and CMLL Mexico City) debut. CMLL recap rips referee Terror Chino for counting 20 when he should not have.
4) Okumura b Pegasso
Okumura has won five straight singles matches on Saturday.
5) Guerrero Maya Jr. b Sagrado
6) Dragon Lee & Tritón b Hechicero & Kamaitachi
Very good match.
7) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
Shocker snuk in a foul on Rush for the win.

CMLL (SUN) 05/17/2015 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Magnus & Metatrón b Artillero & Súper Comando
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Cancerbero, Raziel b Flyer, Soberano Jr., Stigma
Raziel took Flyer’s mask.
3) Tritón b Okumura [lightning]
4) Ángel de Oro, Blue Panther Jr., Valiente b Ephesto, Kráneo, Luciferno
5) La Sombra, Rush, Super Porky b Terrible, Último Guerrero, Vangellys
Ultimo Guerrereo replaced Rey Bucanero (in California)
6) La Máscara, Máximo, Volador Jr. b Felino, Negro Casas, Nitro
Nitro replaced Shocker. Volador snuck in a foul on Casas. Casas challenged him to a singles match for next week.

My guess was the top two matches were broken up the way they were to set up a tag title match, but that can’t quite happen if Shocker doesn’t show up or just can’t go. Nitro subbing suggests it was a late decision.

Chilanga Mask (SAT) 05/16/2015 Arena Roberto Paz, Guadalajara, Jalisco [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), TerceraCaida]
1) Mercurio b Aero Xtreme, Reggae Boy
Rey Celestial did not appear.
2) Dorado Jr. & Sangre Fría Jr. b Fulgor I & Fulgor II
Sangre Fira Jr. was beat, but snuck in and switched places with his brother to beat Fulgor II for the win.
3) Impulso b Shiryu Dragon
Impulso announced his opponent Saturno was not there but he still wanted to fight. Shiryu Dragon was replacement, with Impulso winning in a good match.
4) Astro Rey Jr., Draego, Psico Kid b Electro Boy, Fly Star, Toxin Boy
good match. Draego was hurt and put in a neck brace.
5) Dralion b Belial
very good match
6) Aéreo (Ciudad Juarez) & Latin Dragón b Arez & Kaientai
Arez suffered a knee injury and could not finish the match.
7) Aero Boy b Rey Horus
Aero Boy won in a very good match. They talked about a rematch under super libre rules.
8) Caifan DQ Black Terry, Satánico
Satanico was DQed for fouling Caifan. Crowd was unhappy, chanting fraud. Satanico defended his actions the next day, saying it could not be a fraud since everyone was there wrestled in the match.

1) Aramis & Iron Kid b Arez & Belial and Ciber Punk & Garrobo Punk
Good match. Arez & Beilal attacked the winners and wanted a rematch.
2) Aéreo (Ciudad Juarez) & Rey Apocalipsis b Alas de Acero & Impulso
Both one night teams broke up after the match, with Alas de Acero & Impulso challenging to an apuesta match.
3) Caifan b Aero Boy
good match.
4) Silueta DRAW Keira
5) Latin Dragón b Psico Kid
6) Rey Horus b Flamita
Said to be one of the best matches of the year.

Both shows sound like they lived up to the hype, with Flamita/Horus being out of this world. I’m sure Chilanga Mask probably wish they could’ve gone with a different card order on Saturday, because people being mad about that finish obscures what reads like a pretty good show.

Chilanga Mask has a show on 05/30 in San Mateo Atenco with Traumas vs Gemelo Fantasticos. Their next big show is at Location To Be Announced, Estadio de Mexico on June 21st, and they added Hechicero vs Pagano to that lineup tonight. That’s a match up of guys with very different styles.

Mascara Sagrada & Octagon defeated Jaque Mate & Fuerza Guerrero by DQ in the main event of the ex-AAA Coco Rojo show. They set up a Fuerza/Octagon singles match on the next show.

This week’s Teleformula show was a +LuchaTV episode.

SuperLuchas looks back at Canek vs Billy Robinson.

Fuego en el Ring had Roberto Paz Jr. in studio.

Super Libre interviews Esfinge, Gallo, Satanico, Virgo, and Exterminador.

DJ Spectro concludes his Alberto Munoz bio.

Lucha Libre in Japan

05/17 REINA:
Kana (c) defeated La Gitana to keep the REINA World Championship (4:41)
Maki Narumiya defeated Princesa Sugehit to win the CMLL-REINA International Championship (12:38); Sugehit falls on 2nd defense.

The Gitana match had a lot of interference and didn’t last long; I wonder how far along Gitana is at this point. I don’t pretend to understand how Japanese women’s wrestling works (I pretend to understand too many other things), but it looks like the CMLL women are working in other promotions more often this trip.

Lineups

CMLL (SAT) 05/23/2015 Arena Coliseo
1) Bengala vs Camorra
2) Robin vs El Rebelde
3) Oro Jr. vs Cancerbero
4) Tritón vs Okumura
5) Blue Panther Jr. vs Tiger
6) Ángel de Oro & Fuego vs Ephesto & Luciferno
7) Kamaitachi, Shocker, Terrible vs Dragon Lee, Mistico, Titán

Okumura and Triton rematch six days later so Okumura can get his win back, maybe. Wonder how many wins in a row Okumura would need to get before they booked anything out of a win streak.

CMLL (SUN) 05/24/2015 Arena México
1) Astral & Eléctrico vs Mercurio & Pequeño Olímpico
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Soberano Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
3) Blue Panther, Blue Panther Jr., The Panther vs Felino, Puma, Tiger
4) Dragon Lee, Mistico, Valiente vs Kamaitachi, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero
5) La Máscara, Naito, Rush vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Shocker, Terrible
6) Volador Jr. vs Negro Casas

Ultimo Guerrero works fourth matches and Blue Panther works third matches when AAA is running Palacio de los Deportes the same night. This would actually be a pretty exciting card if the show was on Terra, with every match having a chance to be good and the main event possibly being excellent. It’s not going to be on Terra, so eh. It should draw slightly better than usual for the like mind CMLL hardcores but there’s nothing unique here that’s going to get to take people away from the Lucha World Cup.

(Also, Shocker still being on the card suggests my theory about a tag match was wrong – or someone did a lot of rebooking quick.)

Naito returns teaming with the Ingobernables. He might end up with them; he’s been Sombra’s regular tag partner in NJPW and could use more of a rudo edge to his character there too.

CMLL (SUN) 05/24/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Dinamo & El Tapatío vs El Piraña & Mr. Brisa
2) El Alteño, El Divino, Explosivo vs El Yaqui, Gran Kenut, Relampago
3) Flash I & Flash II vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
4) Silueta vs Chik Tormenta
5) Forastero, Pepe Aguayo, Virgo vs El Cuatrero, Joker, Sansón

Silueta’s the first regular CMLL DF wrestler to be on these cards since they moved the day back and forth – but then Silueta is really Guadalajara based and not doing a lot in CMLL. The special singles match suggests there’s some reason indy luchadora Chik Tormenta is debuting here (though it may be as simple as “they both wanted to do it and we thought it was a good idea.”)

Cara Lucha (SAT) 05/30/2015 Arena San Juan Pantitlan, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal
CaraLucha 1st Anniversary
1) Principe Diamante & Tribal vs Atomic Star & Látigo
2) Wasson vs Aramis [Bestario I]
3) Imposible vs Dinamic Black vs Wotam vs Hombre Bala Jr.
4) Fly Star & Toxin Boy vs Kilvan, Rey Lobo Jr., Yoruba and Andy Boy, Danger King, Guerrero Mixtico and Rayo Star & Sky Man [mask, hair]
5) Aero Boy vs Eterno
6) Rush vs Hechicero
7) Titán & Volador Jr. vs Bestia 666 & Flamita

Wasson and Aramis advanced to the finals on Saturday’s show. The idea of that tournament was winner gets to face Flamita on this show – maybe it’s happening on another show now? Rush/Hechicero should be something, as should be that main event. Neza Boys are ‘favorites’ to lose their hair or mask in the strangely uneven match.
