CMLL (FRI) 01/02/2015 Arena México [CMLL, Notimex]
1) Disturbio & Metálico b Magnus & Starman
Magnus was in a bad car accident on Thursday, still wrestled here.
2) Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis b La Vaquerita, Princesa Sugehit, Skadi
Skadi replaced Dark Angel (not in the country – flight issues?) Rudas took 2/3.
3) Okumura, Pierroth, Sangre Azteca b Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa, Tritón
Rudos took 1/3.
4) Ángel de Oro, Máximo, Super Porky b Ephesto, Kráneo, Mephisto
Tecnicos took 1/3.
5) Atlantis, La Máscara, Volador Jr. b Euforia, Mr. Niebla, Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3, with Mascara & Volador not costing each other the match this time.
6) Máscara Dorada b Negro Casas [CMLL WELTER, final]
final for Mistico’s vacant title. Dorada previously beat Casas in 2010 to win this title. Dorada took falls 1/3 to win the title, the last with a casita. Crowd cheered Casas.

Dorada becomes the 29th champion and holds this title for the third time. Dorada winning the title logically sets up a FantasticaMania title match – maybe with Polvora, Mephsito, Cavernario or even a rematch against Volador. (But I keep expecting logical things which don’t occur.) Those lineups may be out this time tomorrow, but the hint now is it might wait until after the 01/05 NJPW show.

CMLL (FRI) 01/02/2015 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Facebook (1), Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Facebook (2), Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Facebook (3), Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Facebook (4), Arena Coliseo Guadalajara Facebook (5)]
1) Meteoro & Reycko b El Yaqui & Satara
2) El Chakal, Jocker, Sádico b Javier Cruz Jr., Sky Kid, Smaker
3) Esfinge, Gallo, Magnum b Exterminador, Maléfico, Ráfaga
Exterminador replaced Demonio Maya and is back to being a rudo. Magnum replaced Omar and beat Malefico (who bled in this match.)
4) Dragon Lee, Titán, Valiente b Felino, Pólvora, Sagrado
5) Blue Panther, Brazo de Oro, Rayo de Jalisco Jr. DQ Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000
Brazo de Oro replaced Super Porky. Tecnicos took 1/3. Rayo tried for a martinete on Cien, referee broke it up, Cien fouled Rayo and was caught for the DQ. Rayo vs Cien or Rayo vs Universo was teased.

Crowd looked good and it does seem like they’re doing the Rayo singles match. Malefico was on Super Libre declaring himself the best Occidente champion (and complaining the other titles haven’t been defended much), so he might have talked himself into a title program.

Titan and Cavernario meet tonight in Arena Coliseo. They had one of the best matches of last year, they’ll likely have one of the best matches of this year again. Titan’s National Welterweight championship is on the line, but it’s unlikely to change hands on a non-televised show. Even if they wanted to do it to promote interest in these shows, no one’s really writing about them.

CMLL has video promos for Soberano & Star vs Cholo & Ramstein and the mascots generally promoting the 01/06 show.

Lucha Underground sent out information about their January tapings. They’ll be taping on the 17th & 18th and 24th & 25th (Saturdays and Sundays) and all shows will be four hour tapings to cover two weeks of TV. They’re only releasing info month by month for now. I’ve read Ricochet is booked on 02/15 but don’t know if Underground is taping that weekend. Hope not.

The 01/14 Lucha Underground episode details completely give away the result of this Wednesday’s Aztec Warfare, so maybe be careful reading Lucha Underground stuff the next few days if you don’t want to be spoiled. Usually TV shows try to hide those sort of plot developments a bit more, and this is a little more surprisingly given how concerned they were about spoilers getting out.

Today’s AAA show isn’t airing until 6:30pm for some reason. 52MX appears to have also changed their schedule; the first airing of Guerreros del Ring is now 2pm CT.

RobViper has a music video of 09/02/2014 CMLL.

DoradaFan has a music video of 11/11/2014 CMLL

LuchaWorld has a recap of the 12/13/14 Lucha Azteca.

Naoki writes (in Japanese) about going to the New Year’s Day IWRG show.

+LuchaTV has highlights of Negro Navarro vs Hechicero from Christmas Day. Navarro praised Hechicero after the match. Segunda Caida has a review of the match.

There’s footage of Rey Neza vs Motocross too.

Kcidis starts 2015 horoscopes with Carpricornio.

Principe Odin Jr. unmasked Cyberman. He’s Luis Enrique Ramirez Alvarado, 25 years old from Estado de Mexico, 5 years a wrestler.

SuperLuchas goes back to the 70s to find shows on New Year’s Eve, a variety show on New Year’s Day, and a busy January 2, 1966.

Ohtani’s Jacket was disappointed by Delta, Fuego y Guerrero Maya Jr. vs. Hechicero, Hombre sin Nombre y Virus. There is a downside to just watching random matches; very few matches get hyped from Guadalajara of late, and the almost always dead crowd is something you might pick up if you watch a  lot of it. They’re quiet for anything except chanting at each other, or chanting at the pretty girls. The announcers were even sort of burying the crowd by saying this match would’ve been better appreciated in a different building. A good match is one where the crowd should care, but it’s possible the crowd in that building may have been taught to care about other things. (The downside with watching everything is you watch much less interesting stuff than this on a regular basis.)

Lineups

CMLL has pulled Dark Angel from Monday (Skadi replaces) and Tuesday (Princesa Sugehit).

CMLL (FRI) 01/09/2015 Arena México
1) Leono & Sensei vs Akuma & Espanto Jr.
2) Esfinge, Pegasso, Tritón vs Okumura, Puma, Sangre Azteca
3) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Misterioso Jr., Pierroth, Sagrado
4) Dragon Lee vs Kamaitachi [lightning]
5) Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Máximo vs Mr. Águila, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Marco Corleone vs Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas, Shocker

One last show for the FantasticaMania crew? Ingobernables vs Peste Negra & Shocker again, which might leave Shocker and Marco to feud while others are busy.

One more time for Dragon Lee & Kamaitachi to kill each other. Last time was memorable, this should be as well.
