AAA TV (SUN) 12/07/2014 Auditorio Benito Juárez, Zapopan, Jalisco [AAA]
***Guerra de Titanes, 2014***
1) Dinastía © b Mini Charly Manson [AAA MINI]
Dinastia fifth known defense. Mascarita Sagrada & Mini Psycho Clown were seconds and interfered. Good match.
2) Sexy Star & Taya Valkyrie b Faby Apache & Ivelisse
Sexy pinned Faby (with Taya’s help.) Another pull apart brawl after the match.
3) Joe Lider & Pentagón Jr. b Fénix & Myzteziz and Angélico & Jack Evans © [AAA TAG]
Fenix & Myzteziz missed stereo tope con giros thru a table and Lider & Pentagon beat Jack to win the titles. Pentagon & Lider are 13th Champions. Pentagon now holds half of both tag titles (Mixed w/Sexy Star.) Jack & Angelico fall on fourth known defense.
4) Monsther Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown © b Averno & Chessman [AAA TRIOS]
Cibernetico was missing from the match for unclear reasons. Clowns beat Chessman and Cibernetico showed up a couple minutes after the match. Psycho Circus eight known defense.
5) Aerostar b Súper Fly [mask]
Seconds were Nino Hamburguesa and Hijo del Fantasma. Tirantes started at referee, but Joaquin replaced him with Piero. Aerostar did a dive off the light tower onto all three, then later beat Super Fly for the win. Super Fly is Erick Aguilar Muñoz, 10 years a wrestler, from Puebla.
6) El Patrón Alberto b Texano Jr. © [AAA HEAVY]
Mesias and Perro were seconds. Plenty of weapon usage. Tirantes started as ref in this one too, but Alberto took him out with a superkick. Piero replaced him. Texano tried to counter the armbar with a foul again, but Alberto blocked it and armbared him for the win and title change. Alberto is the 12th champion and first person to have won both the AAA & CMLL Heavyweight titles. Texano falls on his 14th known defense.
Air Date: 01/03 and 01/10, though it might sneak up on YouTube prior that that.
Top two matches sounded particularly good, but the entire show seems to have come off well. Aerostar/Super Fly is being called a MOTYC level match and the main event was what it needed to be. The Fenix/Myzteziz wipe out spot in the tag match is crazy.
Not mentioned in the results was another Perros del Mal/Konnan promo segment, promoting how they had almost all the titles (as a tease in them stealing the main event, I’d guess.) The main event ended with all the tecnicos celebrating with Alberto, as a mirror version of that earlier segment.
No one seems to know what the deal is with Cibernetico showing up late. If it’s an angle, and it’s probably an angle, they didn’t get it over on the PPV or in the results. Maybe there’s some backstage vignette which will fill in the blank, but it didn’t go anywhere here. The Sociedad Ultimatium didn’t seem to go anywhere too, so something unrevealed that connects the two is possible. There also wasn’t the big angle to set thing up for 2015, though Alberto/Perro and Myzteziz/Fenix for the tag titles are obviously out there, and they’re setting up something for the women. Their post match fights feel like teases to a hair match, but I can’t imagine any of those four being thrilled with that idea.
This did only air on PPV; even finding pirated feeds was a problem. (That also might suggest not a lot of people bought this, but those kind of things only take one of the right people to get a feed.) No word on the attendance yet. Show started about 15 minutes after the top of the hour and they finished the main event just a few minutes before 9pm CT – Psycho, Mesias and Alberto were posing on the stage as Sky cut away.
Unsure if we’ve got another taping in 2015. I haven’t seen one mentioned yet on TV, but they were locked in on Guerra de Titanes this week. Next week will make it clear.
