Cavernario tries to put Cometa thru the buckle

Rey Cometa vs Cavernario in a lightning match: [GOOD] very good match that felt like it was an extra En Busca de un Idolo match. They were fighting right off the introductions and packed a lot in to the time, even more so early. All they were missing was the judges. This would’ve been a good week one to the feud and I suppose probably was for most people, but here it was the final week of before their hair match and the that doesn’t seem quite as close in the match. Cometa and Cavernario each got in big trademark spots and established their roles. The finish of them both spectacularly thwarted on dives to the outside is a nice way to get a draw (if they weren’t just both going to op back up and brawl again, oops.)

Caveman has a bad plan
and that’s the end of Dragon Rojo for a while

Atlantis, Dragón Rojo Jr., Volador Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, Rey Escorpión, Último Guerrero: [OK] Match was built around Atlantis/UG until they felt it was more important to get over Thunder. I dunno. Why did Thunder come out when he did, anyway? Ultimo Guerrero was winning, if Thunder and UG were there on the same plan then Thunder coming out doesn’t help unless they know Rey Escorpion is going to attack Thunder (which also didn’t make any sense.) Dragon Rojo’s landing on his dropkicked looked horrible and they got about 1 second of it on screen live, so that was all sorts of bad. He almost got dropped badly in the first fall by Gran Guerrero too. Rey Escorpion and Volador should be off in their own six month feud instead of randomly intersecting each other, it’d be so much better for both guys than what they’re doing now.

Felino not worth Rush’s time, but Sombra happy to run him over

Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas vs La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush: [ok/good] Kind of just another Ingobernables and Peste Negra match, not helped by camera working missing spots where Sombra was taunting the fans. There wasn’t anything wrong as it being a lot more of the same. This is to build to the tag match, though the announcers didn’t really picked up on that (and there really wasn’t any hype for the Anniversary card at all except for the mask match.) Mr. Niebla seemed to be moving half speed in the last stretch.
