Meteoro 450

Astral, Meteoro, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito: [OK] Meteoro’s annual appearance as a mini did not go well. He blew a casadora, his 450 splash was reminiscent of Pegasso and he had trouble taking Pierrothitoo’s cradle in the third. The entire match was smoother and better run when the rudos were controlling things in the first fall, with Dragoncito being the clear best of the técnicos tonight but the opposition working as the much greater team. Pequeño Olímpico is not built to fly.

La Máscara & Máscara Dorada vs Ephesto & Mephisto: [OK] Such a weird finish – Mephisto fell down as if Mascara Dorada tripped him, only Mascara Dorada never moved his arms (and seemed to react as if Mephisto was faking, not as if he forgot the spot), the ref gets distracted, Mascara tries to take advantage to foul Mephisto, Mephisto blocked it and pulls Mascara’s mask and roll him up for the win. Mephisto is either a super genius to fake his own trip knowing Mascara would try to foul him, or it kind of was just random. Your guess is as good as mine at why Mascara is the técnico who lasts until the end and not Mascara Dorada, especially when the finish is sympathetic for the técnico and La Mascara is anything but sympathetic in this match. They got some time here but didn’t do much anything with it, and it’s a bit frustrating to be reminded La Mascara has direction and Mascara Dorada has just been floating around since they took the trios titles away. Referee here refused to make the count when both rudos were covering the técnicos but was totally fine skipping counting out Mephisto in the second fall, if you’re trying to keep track of which rules matter this week.

Atlantis, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Rey Escorpión, Último Guerrero: [below average/ok] quick routine match where the first two falls were over almost before I realized it and the last fall wasn’t much longer and ended badly. Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero, the entire point of this match, were in together for many two minutes of this. Same as everyone else. There are far rougher matches but there are plenty of OK ones with a lot more to them – this was a tournament match, more or less. One of many reasons Valiente is great is he always gives me a gif to use for his match.
