Copa Jr./photo by Alexis Salazar/CMLL

CMLL (FRI) 10/10/2014 Arena México [CMLL, Univision]
1) Akuma & Disturbio b Robin & Soberano Jr.
2) Misterioso Jr., Skándalo, Virus b Black Panther, Pegasso, Tritón
3) Ángel de Oro, Delta, Rey Cometa b Ephesto, Felino, Hechicero
Delta replaced Titan. Hechicero has a new mask (and wore his Poder Y Honor championship to the ring.) Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Diamante Azul, Marco Corleone, Valiente b Kráneo, Mr. Niebla, Shocker
Shocker and Azul are still feuding.
5) Máximo b Mephisto [Copa Jr. VIP, Copa Jr., final]
Maximo took 2/3 to win the tournament. Money was thrown in. Brazo de Oro and Kahoz were the seconds. Maximo dedicated the win to his mother.
6) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Euforia, Thunder, Último Guerrero
Ingobernables won in straight falls. Clean fall in the first, Rush sneaking in a foul on UG in the second.

Nice upset win for Maximo. This tournament still feels like something put on just to fill a few weeks of shows, but at least maybe they can get something out of down the road.

Main event looks like they’ve moved on to the Ingobernables against the Guerreros. They haven’t moved on from Shocker & Diamante Azul, despite all reason and logic.

Alberto el Patron was honored by the city of San Luis Potosi yesterday. The mayor talked about Alberto’s achievements in sports and being a role model for young people, Alberto noted it was his first visit back in 9 years and gave the mayor credit for making many positive changes. That sort of thing, and the best sort of local promotion for Sunday’s show. In a Q&A, Alberto said he plans on wrestling for “only three or four more years” so he can eventually spend more time with his family. It’s very rare a wrestler says something like that and sticks to it. Alberto might more set on that then most, but it’s something AAA has to find out for sure before they decide on how they’re booking the Perro/Alberto feud. Alberto was mobbed by fans coming/leaving the ceremony.

Rob has highlights from the 06/27/14 CMLL show, including the En Busca de un Idolo cibernetico.

CMLL’s text/video preview for the Dia Los Muertos suggest the shows will not be CMLL vs CMLL, but CMLL vs the Undead. That would be a different booking direction, so that doesn’t seem likely at all.

Yep, trios title match coming up.

Why does Mascara Dorada have to be in such trying matches? Hoping Dragon Lee & Kamaitachi makes Fox Sports somehow.

1) Acuaboy & Mr. Voltio vs Mensajero Del Diablo & Rebelde Punk

5) Dr. Wagner Jr. © vs Último Guerrero [IWL HEAVY]

Lineup is here. If the main event happens as scheduled, it’s the first singles match between Wagner & Guerrero in six and a half years. My records have Dr. Wagner Jr. and Ultimo Guerrero meeting 10 times. I don’t have a result for one match in Guadalajara. Wagner has won nine times. Ultimo Guerrero has won none times.

5) Averno & Hijo del Fantasma b El Mesías & Myzteziz
5) El Mesías & Myzteziz b Averno & Hijo del Fantasma
La Mistica and spear for the win. Hell Brothers tried to get involved, but La Parka ran them off. It rained badly during this match.
6) Blue Demon Jr. & Fénix b el Hijo del Perro Aguayo & Pentagón Jr.
Pentagon replaced Daga. Demon submitted Perro.

Air Date: 10/25 and 11/02

Really surprising Perro would be the one taking the loss in the main event with Pentagon right there. Not a surprise Demon won. Daga, still presumably battling a knee injury, could’ve been held off this show to give him a better chance at working Sunday but I’d guess he misses both.

There is a change in philosophy about who gets brought to TV tapings. They used to only have people show up who had a match, but Cibernetico’s been on every single taping since TripleMania and hasn’t wrestled once. Parka appeared here as a surprise, and maybe to set up a direction for the Hell Brothers which doesn’t necessarily include challenging for the trios titles. Demon/Parka/Myzteziz versus the Hell Brothers would work.

(No idea what become of Ludxor.)

I wouldn’t expect a lot out of the fifth match because of that rain, and it may have messed with the other matches as well.

They’re back taping in two days in San Luis Potosi for Heroes Inmortales.
