4) Diamante Azul, Rush, Volador Jr. DQ Cavernario, Negro Casas, Shocker Diamante Azul, Rush, Volador Jr. vs Cavernario, Negro Casas, Shocker, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Just an absurd match, with Rush running after his rivals but Volador stopping Diamante Azul from helping out the first two falls. (Rush actually came across as a tecnico here.) Azul eventually got in the ring in the first fall and Shocker just fouled him (though it seemed to take two tries.) Rudos dominated the second fall with Volador and Rush refusing to go near each other and Casas pinning Volador after a casita. Third fall went around a minute with Shocker accidentally pulling off Azul’s mask (and by other’s reactions, the plan wasn’t to end the match there.) Diamante Azul tried to force his mask on and continue the mask, but it only went a little longer before he fouled Shocker. They called the win for the tecnicos anyway. A big post match brawl broke out and Volador and Rush teased fighting, then left without having done much. Azul and Shocker went back and forth on the microphone a while after the match.

Shortest Arena Coliseo show in some time and a kind of a fiasco. First match was a typical opener, second was a lot of fun but completely missed by the internet audience due to streaming problems, and the third and fourth matches weren’t good at all. The cibernetico probably saved the show for the live crowd but there needed to be at least one more match on this show. The main event was a total joke – any pairing of Volador/Rush means no real match will happen, and the idea of Diamante Azul/Shocker is a very bad one.

I was able to capture most of the show – except for the moments where they stopped broadcasting. The short version is Terra’s done so many goofy things with the feed that I’m ready to record any of them. Terra seemed like they got a late start, made a mistake in starting up, and were just oblivious to it. They would’ve known something was wrong if they had the correct webpage open themselves or were on Twitter – they didn’t catch their mistake until halfway into the show, so they weren’t doing either. (Which seems to confirms the person who responds on Twitter is probably not directly involved with any of this, but a social media manager somewhere.)

CMLL (SUN) 10/05/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Relampago Azul b Reyko
2) El Divino b Thunder Boy
3) Smaker b Infierno
4) Acertijo, Évola, Jocker DQ Exterminador, Javier Cruz Jr., Leo
Tecnicos appear to have taken 2/3 (though the report is very unclear) with Evola fouling both Curz & Exterminador
5) Gallo, Mr. Águila, Sádico b Dragon Lee, Maléfico, Titán[Relevos Increíbles]
Team Aguila took 2/3.
6) La Sombra & Valiente b Ephesto & Mephisto
Tecnicos took 1/3 (though Sombra and Valiente may have had problems.)

A show. Maybe Cruz/Evola is the next midcard hair match. I keep thinking they’re setting up something with Aguila here but I’m never quite sure what it is.

5) Dr. Cerebro, Trauma I, Trauma II b Flamita, Rayo Star, Súper Nova
Traumas & Cerbero took falls 1/3, Trauma II submitting Nova and challenging him to a match on 10/18.

Black Terry has highlights of a couple matches. This looks like another good show – when Sky Man isn’t missing dumb dives, the shows here have been good under a new promotion.

Lucha Underground held taping this weekend, taping two shows on Saturday and on one Sunday. They wrap up this block of episodes next weekend, but it looks like they have have already crowned a champion. A picture from tonight’s tapings shows someone celebrating with a title belt in the crowd (also posted here for when the photo gets taken down.) I’ll spare the mention here for now, though it’s probably among your first couple guesses if you’ve been following the promotion long enough. If I’m counting shows right, that’s airs on the 12/17 taping. The title tournament itself started on Saturday’s first taping (12/03); I was told Lucha Underground “had a really complicated idea in how they’ll crown their first world champion. It’ll probably make sense on TV.” Intrigued!

(Also, I wonder if they’re taping going to tape a Christmas show in October, or if they’re just going to be off those 12/24 and 12/31 – the tapings would’ve run out before those dates on the original schedule.)

Brian Cage also started with the promotion on Saturday’s tapings. AAA/Lucha Underground had been high on him since the PWG show they scouted before the tapings, and it had just been a matter of figuring out a deal. I think Lucha Underground is going to be a lot like AAA Mexico in that they’re always going to be looking for new talent to bring in.

Danny Trejo was among the invited guest at this weekend’s show.

Chris DeJoseph talks about Lucha Underground on the MLW Radio podcast. I probably will listen to that tomorrow. No Konnan on that show.

I’m not sure if this means anything all, but Mark Burnett’s One Three Media was one of a few media properties bought by MGM this week. They bought majority interest, though not the full company and the same people appear to be staying in charge.

Today was the 8th anniversary of Antonio Pena’s passing.

WWE Raw starts on Fox Sports 1 Mexico tomorrow night. I’m not totally sure about this, but it looks like that show has been off Televisa and TVC the last few weeks (after they announced they were moving networks), which isn’t great timing for them with their visit to Mexico City in a couple weekends. I’d suspect the first few weeks of the Fox shows have a lot of hype for those shows in Mexico City and Monterrey. At this point, it appears CMLL is still on Fox but their schedules aren’t reliable more than a few days out.

Rob has highlights of June 20, 2014 CMLL – the En Busca de un Idolo final.

Segunda Caida reviews 07/26/14 Lucha Azteca

LV has reviews CMLL 09/23/14 and last week’s IWRG.

A Turibus profile turns into an interview with Tiger and Hombre sin Nombre, who are entertaining. Highlight is Hombre sin Nombre airing suspicions that the US wrestling may be fake. Nah.

SuperLuchas #534 has the return of the Hell Brothers.

Funcion Esterlas interviews Drastik Boy. He kept his Alto Impacto title on the DTU show in Arena Queretaro, the only notable result to be mentioned from the show.

El Occidental writes about someone who makes lucha libre ceramic figures.

Hijo del Pantera is going to TNA….’s show in Japan with Wrestle-1, where he wrestles normally. (Still hope it makes PPV.)

Lineup

Chilanga Mask (SAT) 10/25/2014 Coliseo Coacalco, Coacalco, Estado de México
1) Astro Rey Jr., Benji Maverick, Psico Kid vs Kastigador, Oficial 911, Oficial AK47 and Electro Boy, Fly Warrior, Karma
2) Keira vs ?
3) Arez & Belial vs L.A. Anarquista & Trauma I
4) Impulso vs Bárbaro Cavernario vs Imposible
5) Black Terry & Rey Hechicero vs Negro Navarro & Trauma II
6) Fly Star & Toxin Boy vs Aero Boy & Herodes Jr. and Fulgor I & Fulgor II

Card order subject to change but it looks like a fun show with a lot of good matches. The one thing we can be sure of is Cavernario and Impulso will try to leap on each other from a high place and it will end badly for one or the other. Imposible should just hang out in the front row while they kill each other.
