CMLL (SUN) 08/10/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [CMLL]
1) El Piraña b Meteoro
2) El Yaqui & Satara b El Brillante & Javier Cruz
3) Exterminador & León Blanco b Maléfico & Ráfaga
4) La Vaquerita & Lluvia DQ La Seductora & Zeuxis
Zeuxis was pinned in the third fall, but came back in to attack Lluvia for the DQ.
5) Mr. Águila b Omar Brunetti
Mr. Aguila snuck in a foul on Omar.
6) Dragón Rojo Jr. & Gallo b Gran Guerrero & Pólvora
Tecnicos took 2/3, Dragon Rojo powerbombing Polvora for the deciding win.
They seem to be pushing Omar as a guapo idol. He’s got Disturbio, who’s about the opposite, in a hair match today.
CMLL (MON) 08/11/2014 Arena Puebla [El Sol de Puebla, Periodico Enfoque, Periodico Enfoque (fotos)]
1) Rey Apocalipsis, Siki Ozama Jr., Toro Bill Jr. b Molotov, Paris, Star Jr.
Rudos took 1/3
2) Espíritu Maligno b Eléctrico [lightning]
Espiritu won by submission and asked for a title shot. He’ll get it next week.
3) Black Panther, Blue Panther, Cachorro b Cancerbero, Raziel, Virus
Tecnicos took 1/3. Cachorro beat Raziel, who went to the back on a stretcher.
4) Pólvora, Rey Escorpión, Shocker DQ Máximo, Valiente, Volador Jr.
Maximo’s return from head injury. Polvora and Rey Escorpion are listed as ex-Revolucionarios del Terror. Rudos took 2/3. Escorpion faked a foul to draw the DQ.
5) Último Guerrero b La Sombra
Sombra jumped UG to win fall 1, UG rallied back to win falls 2 and 3 clean.
The pattern of Ultimo Guerrero defeating any and all comers prior to Anniversary continues. (Well, the credible ones. He ain’t bothering with La Mascara, despite Mascara how Mascara begged for that match for years in the press.)
I made a joke about Dragon Rojo winning the rights to the Revolucionarios gimmick last Friday. I don’t think that’s a joke anymore!
Espiritu Maligno getting a title shot is a nice sight to see.
AAA confirmed last night Alberto del Rio will be a part of TripleMania. This story has been picked up as a big story in Mexico and getting him in this quick is a huge coup for AAA. I’ve had no sense how tickets are selling for this show, but it seems very likely a lot of people are going to be paying money for Alberto waving to the crowd, saying a few words, and slapping someone. (Some of the articles have suggested Alberto Del Rio may end up in the mystery person spot in the four way, but it still seems like that’s meant to be Dr. Wagner.)
AAA is promoting him, at least for now, under the Del Rio name and Joaquin was quoted as saying ADR would be like the character seen in the US (and not a reversion to the Dos Caras Jr. identity.) Ricardo Rodriguez won’t be part of the package for the moment, but teased coming in later. AAA themselves doesn’t say if this is more than a one off, but it’s clear they’d like to have him in for a lot more than that.
As AAA’s site points out, this is not really a debut but a return. Dos Caras Jr.’s Mexico career started in AAA, wrestling there on and off between tours of Japan between 2000 and 2002. His last AAA TV match is up on YouTube, a tag match with Canek against Jason the Terrible and Leatherface.
Today’s CMLL Arena Mexico main event is La Mascara, Maximo, and Valiente versus Mr. Niebla, Shocker and Tiger. There’s no ongoing issue there but it figures one might start. Starman and Okumura meet in the tercera after feuding last week. Sangre Azteca is still listed in the lightning match despite undergoing knee surgery last week. CMLL is posting substituions – Volador will replace Atlantis in Guadalajara on Sunday – but just not all of them.
In addition to Brunetti/Disturbio, Terrible/Marco main events Guadalajara. This is the third time they’ve had this singles match since Marco came to CMLL, and Marco has won both previous matches. Still can’t get a title shot. Elsehwere, Arena Aficion has a show with Rush on top and Eterno in the semimain. Indy Eterno gets booked like it’s his (imaginary) twin working AAA and there’s no problem with him working CMLL shows.
LuchaWorld has has This Week’s Poster-Mania and KrisZ’s news update.
Segunda Caida reviews Uprising: Lucha Libre 07/26/14.
A nice short story about meeting Villano III on a bus.
Dragon de Oriente I & II defeated Lobo Lafayette and Galaxy in Arena Queretaro to celebrate their 29th Anniversary. Lafayette and Galaxy are their sons.
Dr. Wagner Jr. has been added to ColiseoMania.
Angel del Amor says he grew up a fan of Shawn Michaels and his mom can’t attend his matches because she’ll want to attack his opponents.
Hijo del Climax reached five years of wrestling.
Oro Jr. is top of CMLL’s top 10 this week.
Metalico is now the Pedro Infante of lucha libre.
Lucha Libre in Japan
08/12 NOAH (SEM): Rocky Lobo b Jinzo – Super Crazy return to Mexico, but these two are still in Japan.

CMLL (MON) 08/18/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Astro Aéreo Jr., Asturiano, Flyer vs Disturbio, Guerrero Espacial, King Jaguar
2) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Lluvia vs Amapola, La Seductora, Tiffany
3) Eléctrico © vs Espíritu Maligno [MEX LIGHT]
Electrico’s second defense.
4) Atlantis, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky vs Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla
5) Máximo, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Pólvora, Rey Escorpión, Shocker
Electrico’s first and only defense was one year ago tomorrow. Pequeno Olimpico last defended the CMLL minis title sixteen months ago. Even by the incredibly low standards of CMLL, the minis titles are pretty dormant. There’s nothing lost to CMLL by Espiritu Maligno actually winning the title here, except Electrico seems to be one of the very few favorites in the division.
First known match for Astro Aereo Jr., an amazingly derivative name. He may have just been listed without the Junior previously; that name turns up in at the Puebla expo last year way down in the opener. He’s green for a Puebla indy luchador.
