IWRG, Steve Pain, Pequeno Warrior

IWRG (WED) 07/09/2014 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG Facebook]
1) Electro Boy b Vampiro Metálico II
2) Hijo De La Bestia & Zurdog b Capitán Muerte & Matrix Jr.
3) Rayan & Spartan b Payaso De Plata & Payaso Extremo
main show debuts for the Payasos, who promptly lost in straight falls.
4) Alan Extreme, Golden Magic, Metaleon DQ Apolo Estrada Jr., Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo
Tecnicos took 2/3. Dibalo fouled Golden Magic in the third, which went undetected by one referee but was belatedly caught by the other.
5) Diva Salvaje, Dr. Cerebro, Veneno DQ Canis Lupus, Eterno, Fuerza Guerrera [lumberjack strap]
Apolo ran in and fouled Veneno, but again a ref figured it out after the fact.

Way to run the same surprise finish twice in a row.

Steve Pain says he’s going to win the Cruiserweight championship at TripleMania if he gets a chance, figuring it’s all good as long as the the title stays with a member of Anarquia. (Daga’s plan to add his buddies was really kind of dumb.) Pain mentions in the interview that it’s possible more luchadors will be added to that match.

Pequeno Warrior was interviewed on Tercera Caida, looking for indy bookings. The after the show video is here. Pequeno Warrior mentions he’s available to be booked as Mini Psicosis or Mini Winners too. We’ve never heard him being associated with the later name before. There was a Mini Winners in 1992-1993 AAA who never made TV, though Pequeno Warrior has said he only started wrestling in 1995. That name popped back up in 2006 (when he was just about done with AAA) and 2008 (when he was starting in CMLL.)

LuchaWorld has a recap of this week’s CMLL Informa (which you can see here) and KrisZ’s news update. In addition to the press conference info, CMLL Informa mentioned that the plan is to start uploading the non-televised Tuesday lightning matches and link to it on CMLL’s video page, and JCR said Thunder was still with CMLL but recovering from an undisclosed injury in Australia. Even if that’s not a cover story, I would be surprised if Thunder’s seen again.

Segunda Caida adds the En Busca de un Idolo trios to their best of the year list.

Dragon Azteca, a luchador for Salamanca, is in a coma after banging his head on the floor. The promotion is running a benefit for his hospital expensive. The link includes a clip of the incident.

Ohtani’s Jacket watches some recent lucha.

So they are running Sunday, but not with any match I’d like to see. And I have no idea what’s going on in the tercera. Is Veneno a rudo? Is Relampago?

6) Electroshock, La Parka, Myzteziz vs Averno, Black Warrior, Chessman

Air Date: 08/02 and 08/09. That pushes Teziutlan to 08/16 and TripleMania takes over from there and everything makes sense now. I’m relieved.

That also means that anything left which needs to be set up for TripleMania ought to be set up here, and there does seem to be a decent amount of stuff left. That main event should be busy.

Tommy Diablo is from Puerto Rico’s WWC and Carlitos was last seen there. I have no idea if they are good or bad, but there are probably people who are reading this who can give their opinions in the comments. They’re a random inclusion at this point. The match should be good with or without them, but it would only make sense to debut them here if they also had some role on TripleMania.

Fourth match could be very good and the minis match has a strong chance as well. Semimain continues Texano/Psycho, second has Taya/Faby.

Oddly enough, there was already a show promoted for that building on that day. It probably got booted to a different date or canceled altogether. Emo Extreme is going to be even more Emo.

CMLL Juicio Final 2014: Casas vs Rush, women’s double apuesta match

The main event for August 1st CMLL Juicio Final event will be the long awaited Negro Casas versus Rush hair vs hair match. The two agreed to the match last year but (in storyline and maybe real life) CMLL could never decided when to do the match. Rush, Casas and CMLL agreed to the date today.

It’ll be a night of (at least) two hair cuts and one mask being lost. The main event apuesta match will be joined by a tag team women’s double apuesta match. Rudas Princesa Blanca (hair) & La Seductora (mask) will face tecnicas Marcela (hair) & Princesa Sugeheit (mask). Both losing team members will lose their hair and mask and Princesa Blanca also vowed she’d retire if she lost this match.

This press conference will air (or at least be discussed) on CMLL Informa at 5pm tonight on terra.com.

Tickets go on sale 07/14. The matches from this event should air on Fox Sports 2 Mexico on August 9th and in the US on Azteca on August 16th.

Rush is the heavy favorite to defeat Negro Casas, but that may be one of the best matches of the year. Blanca & Seductora are heavy underdogs in their match despite being the rudas.

Other news mentioned at the press conference.
– Cavernario will get a spot on the FantasticaMania 2015 tour for winning En Busca de un Idolo, and will get a shot at a welterweight title. CMLL has three Welterweight titles, somehow, but this is easy enough to figure out. Mistico’s (CMLL champ) still hurt, so that means the title shot is either against Sombra (NWA) or Titan (National) and they’ve already set Cavernario up against Titan. Mistico/Cavernario would’ve been frustrating. Edit: CMLL’s news update confirms it’s Titan vs Cavernario.

– Dragon Rojo has left the Revolucionarios after having problems with them the last few weeks and has joined the tecnico side. That means Sunday’s Arena Mexico main event will be a peculiar tecnico vs tecnico match with Rojo and Volador Jr.

– Marcela, Estrellita and Sileuta are headed to Japan (for REINA in August.)

– Diamante Azul is said to be vacationing taking a three week tour of France.

Polvora vs Dragon Rojo, Mascara vs Shocker

CMLL (TUE) 07/08/2014 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Bengala & Molotov b Akuma & Cholo
2) Astral, Fantasy, Stukita b Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico
Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Esfinge, Oro Jr., Star Jr. DQ Cancerbero, Metálico, Raziel
Rudos were DQed with Metalico took Oro Jr.’s mask again.
4) Puma b Black Panther [lightning]
Puma won with a foul.
5) Cavernario, Felino, Mr. Niebla b Blue Panther, Cachorro, Titán
Rudos took 1/3.
6) Atlantis, Rey Cometa, Valiente b Dragón Rojo Jr., Euforia, Pólvora
Polvora replaced Rey Escorpion (out a week with a stinger) on Monday. Tecnicos took 1/3. Polvora and Dragon Rojo had all sorts of problem and were fighting each other after the mask, with Polvora taking Dragon Rojo’s mask.

Dragon Rojo continues to be sad and confused on Twitter. He’s like anyone else trying to understand CMLL programming. (Juicio Final announcement today.)

The semimain repeats next week, so Cavernario’s title match may be ending up against Titan.

Great moments in the CMLL press department: the recap lists the rudos as winning the third, right above a picture of Tirantes raising Oro Jr.’s arm. (Trust the Twitter account.)

In addition to the Rey Escorpion injury noted above, CMLL.com states Pequeno Violencia will need surgery after tearing his patellar tendon last week. That recovery can take six months, so he may not be back until 2015. That leaves CMLL with only six healthy rudo minis: Pierrothito, Pequeno Olimpico, Pequeno Nitro, Demus 3:16, Mercurio and a very part time Pequeno Universo. They were probably bringing in someone to take Pequeno Warrior’s spot, and now definitely will.

CMLL (TUE) 07/08/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) Metatrón & Virgo b Ráfaga & Sádico
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Gallo & Leo b Artillero & Súper Comando
Gallo replaced Esfinge (double booked). Tecnicos took 1/3.
3) Boby Zavala, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca b Omar Brunetti, Sky Kid, Smaker
Rudos took 1/3, Zavala pulling Sky Kid’s mask to set up the win.
4) Máximo, Super Porky, Volador Jr. b Ephesto, Gran Guerrero, Pierroth
Ephesto replaced Polvora on Monday. Super Porky replaced Diamante Azul with no announcement. Tecnicos took 2/3.
5) La Máscara, La Sombra, Rush b Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Terrible
Indeseables took falls 1/3, La Mascara sneaking in a foul on Shocker.

Where do you think Diamante Azul went this year? I’m thinking World Cup. Meanwhile, I’m going to recap a Shocker versus La Mascara match in a few weeks. Some people make better decisions than others.

El Rey Network, a new cable network in the US, posted a lucha libre teaser on Twitter yesterday. What could it mean? Oh, right, that thing we all know it means. My hunch has been we’d get more firm info from the network on the AAA show sometime after the World Cup, and the World Cup ends this weekend. This teaser suggests they’re at least going to start talking about it soon.

AAA posted the minis and Pentagon Jr. dark matches from Queretaro on their YouTube channel.

LuchaMania Monterrey has a review of the LuchaMania Monterrey show (which they had an outsider actually write.)

Rob has highlights of 04/18/14 CMLL.

Segunda Caida reviews the disappointing En Busca de un Idolo cibernetico and Blue Panther, Brazo de Plata, Virus vs Olímpico, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero.

R de Rudo has a video interview with Los Nerds.

Lineups

CMLL (TUE) 07/15/2014 Arena México
1) Metatrón & Robin vs Inquisidor & Zayco
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Oro Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. vs El Rebelde, Hooligan, Metálico
3) Dragon Lee, Sagrado, Starman vs Okumura, Skándalo, Virus
4) Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Kamaitachi [lightning]
5) Black Panther, Blue Panther, Cachorro vs Puma, Tiger, Vangellys
6) Cavernario, Euforia, Mr. Niebla vs Máximo, Titán, Valiente

Titan/Cavernario and maybe Euforia/Valiente continue their feuds. Maximo and Niebla continue their affair.

Vangellys is not quite Negro Casas but semimain should still be good. 2/3/4 al have chances.

CMLL (TUE) 07/15/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Brillante & El Divino vs Acertijo & Magnum
2) Soberano Jr., Star Jr., Stigma vs Demonio Maya, Demonio Rojo, Ráfaga
3) Omar Brunetti, Sky Kid, Smaker vs Boby Zavala, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
4) Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky vs Ephesto, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
5) La Máscara vs Shocker

Mascara Dorada returns! Maybe.

Maybe, after all this time, Mascara will be great and totally change my opinion on him. (It’s more unlikely than 7-1.)

Tercera is a rematch.
