Cavernario splash to the floor

Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Cavernario, Negro Casas, Último Guerrero: Just as with the Terra match which aired a day later, this was a big reset button to previous Bufete del Amor. It’s unclear if they’ve pulled back on Ruh’s rudoness, if he’s meant to just be a more normal técnico with his old partners, or if everything will vastly inconsistent. Probably the later. Negro and Rush were really pulling their shots for a feud built on each guy hitting each other hard. Maybe they’re trying to take it easy to make sure they get to the ending, but it was noticeable here. It’s heartening CMLL’s really getting behind Cavernario, but there’s got to be better ways to work his splash to the floor in besides Rush reversing a move five seconds later.

Marcela tope con giro to nowhere

Dark Angel, Estrellita, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis: Really strong match for the time, possibly the best CMLL match I’ve watched this week. They had less than ten minutes but used all off it. The rudas demolishing the técnicas (including Marcela’s big missed dive) went well, and Marcel making a one woman comeback was fun. They had just enough time to do short Marcela/Zeuxis, Angel/Amapola and Estrellita/Blanca sequences going into the end, and all of them them had a couple neat spots. Heroic job by referee Edgar to ignore the cloud of white powder in the ring while counting the pin.

this went better for her

Sombra knocks himself down on a kick to Shocker’s face

La Sombra vs Shocker: If you like kicks to the face, this is the lucha match for you. New Sombra singles matches still aren’t working for me, though it might have just been partly Shocker. I think I’m a bit too preoccupied by pace when it comes to matches, but I also think it’s important for the match to pick up or at least change somehow as it gets close to the end. This one just felt like it kept going the way it started until it ended, seemingly because it’s tough to do much more than that in a Shocker singles match. Interesting that JCR talked about the entire crowd being behind Shocker (and none behind Sombra) when we could hear almost no crowd noise. Shocker feels more like a guy being booked his way out of the territory, though no one really goes away here.

impressive but safe
