Aerostar topes Super Fly, then gives him a piece of his mind

Aerostar, Argenis, Ludxor, Venum vs Argos, Carta Brava, El Apache, Súper Fly: Not a lot of time here for the number of participants entrances are figured in, which might have been the inspiration behind the multiple people dives. The first four way moonsault worked quite a bit better than the slow to develop triple moonsault dive. The key here was instead of splitting time equally for everyone, they left most of it for Super Fly and Aerostar and they did a good job of getting over their feud. It wasn’t as outstanding match as some of the other ones but it did it’s job well. I can’t believe they didn’t show a replay of the finish – it was obviously botched, but you could still the insane impact Aerostar took. You don’t want people landing on their heads like that, but you might as well make something out of it. I thank Enrique Torres ever that the promos before this match (a concept that’s a !!! in it’s own) are teasing a big match for Aerostar and Super Fly and not Argenis and Argos. They did not cover themselves with glory here. Andres was actually getting over Aerostar’s recent run of huracanrana finishes to set up the finish . That was weirdly competent and surpasses most lucha announcers.

Bengala, Drago, Fénix vs Daga, Eterno, Steve Pain: Good match. Not as big spot focused as you’d imagine, especially in the first half. They worked it US hot tag style and had the rudos taking turns working over Drago. The taking turns idea apparently was smart, because Drago turned the match around as soon as the rudos made it 3 on 1. (The hot tag but, being done one in a great moon, still doesn’t get a reaction – which may suggest these fans aren’t watching WWE or at least watching WWE closely as people might suspect.) The second half of the moer big moves, with a good finishing tease sequence between Daga and Bengala and a nice set of dives. In more surprising announcing, Jesus called the mata leon, Arturo asked what that move was, and Jesus were actually able to explain it to him (and to everyone watching at home.) That’s actually good. Daga’s the one who got put in a neckbrace after the match, but Fenix was the one who looked in all sorts of pain just walking.

Electroshock, Myzteziz, Psycho Clown vs Averno, Jeff Jarrett, Texano: It took 10 minutes for them to get to the whistle here, and then the first 3:30 are just Jeff Jarrett doing the Jeff Jarrett promo. Just a brawl from that point, and a poor one at that. Misses don’t translate well in small gifs, but if you go to 16:28 of the video you’ll see Jarrett sell a Myzteziz superkick that misses him by a foot. (See also: 20:43.) It was at this point where I realized I needed to watch the match in fast forward for a while as to not notice the gaffes. Electroshock bled an absurd amount off a weak chair shot, covering himself in his own blood, but a least hey managed not show him cut his head this time. End game of the match was worked around Hijo del Tirantes rudo spots, after he’d been playing it fair the rest of the show. The good moment was Myzteziz being aware of how this match ends every time and just stealing the guitar before Jarrett could use it. (Crowd can be loud and the match can still be crap.) At least I got to watch Enrique Yniesta push around a cart. Myzteziz and Psycho Clown are kind of not the greatest técnicos for not bothering to help him out. Jeff Jarrett completely blanking out on Mytzteziz’s name was good.

Dinastía, Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Drago vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Charly Manson, Mini Psycho Clown: Good minis match with everyone working hard. There were things that didn’t come off just as intended – I think it was Mini Drago and Mini Psycho Clown who nearly pulled off a triple headscissors into an armdrag but could get the armdrag to work – but there was enough here that did work to make it look good. Mini Drago was impressive and Mini Psycho Clown continues to improve. There doesn’t appear to be any plans for these guys at TripleMania, but I hope they get a chance later on.

this had to occur just so I could gif it.

Angélico, Australian Suicide, Jack Evans vs Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Hijo del Fantasma, Pentagón Jr.: Another good match focusing on the Suicide/Pentagon feud. Everyone else was downplayed here – I only occasionally noticed Fantasma was even here – and they did a good job of building it towards a TripleMania mask match (which may or may not be happening by the time you read it.) This match also built towards the hot tag and didn’t get a reaction for it, but maybe if everyone tried it for long enough it could actually work. Pentagon took a heck of an accidental bump out of the ring near the finish, then got absolutely crushed by Jack. No wonder he wanted to keep fighting after the match.
