WWE to Mexico in October, Valiente/Euforia

CMLL (TUE) 07/15/2014 Arena México
1) Metatrón & Robin b Inquisidor & Zayco
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Oro Jr., Súper Halcón Jr. DQ El Rebelde, Hooligan, Metálico
Tecnicos took 1/3. Metalico pulled Oro’s mask again.
3) Okumura, Skándalo, Virus b Dragon Lee, Sagrado, Starman
Rudos took 2/3.
4) Guerrero Maya Jr. COR Kamaitachi [lightning] (posted by VideosOficialesCMLL)
Maya spinebustered Kamaitachi out of the ring, just about knocking him out. Kamaitachi hit hard, but it was a move where he couldn’t help hit hard.
5) Black Panther, Blue Panther, Cachorro b Puma, Tiger, Vangellys
Tecnicos took 1/3.
6) Cavernario, Euforia, Mr. Niebla DQ Máximo, Titán, Valiente
Rudos took 2/3, Euforia tossing his mask to Valiente to draw the DQ.

As the little film strip image indicates, this was the first week where the lightning match made it to CMLL’s official YouTube channel. You can watch the lightning match right now and try to figure out what those to guys were thinking trying to do spinebuster. I guess you’re not really a NJPW trainee in CMLL until you bsuffer a brain injury?

Cavernario’s recent successes have me wondering about his missing partner – Herodes Jr. hasn’t been booked in a month. Secret injury? His Facebook doesn’t mention anything about that.

CMLL (TUE) 07/15/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]
1) El Brillante & El Divino b Acertijo & Magnum
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Soberano Jr., Star Jr., Stigma b Demonio Maya, Demonio Rojo, Ráfaga
Tecnicos took 2/3.
3) Omar Brunetti, Sky Kid, Smaker b Boby Zavala, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca
Rudos took 1/3, Olimpico & Zavala beating Sky Kid & Smaker.
4) Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky b Ephesto, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3.
5) Shocker b La Máscara
Shocker took 1/3, the last by pulling Mascara’s mask and rolling him up.

I think that might be the right main event result.

WWE announced they’d make their annual appearance in Mexico on October 18th and 19th. They’ll be running Arena Ciudad de Mexico on Saturday and Arena Monterrey on Sunday. Just the nice arenas and not the smaller towns they’ve run prior. Cesaro and Rosa Mendez were there as the WWE representatives, which kind of makes me what Alberto del Rio was busy doing today and also points out how far Mexico has fallen in WWE’s list of priorities.

In an interview to hype the 07/25 Guadalajara show, Mil Mascaras talks about staying humble. The press conference for that show is next Wednesday.

WWL posted the debut episode of their TV show. That includes the Mesias vs Texano Jr. match from their first (and only) iPPV, which has been the best Texano match of his title reign. It starts about 27 minutes in.

An Xalapa reporter posted a quote and photo of Fenix on crutches, but I don’t see an accompanying story.

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 07/21/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Black Tiger & Milenium vs Rey Apocalipsis & Toro Bill Jr.
2) Pegasso & Starman vs King Jaguar & Siki Ozama Jr.
3) Princesa Sugehit vs Princesa Blanca [lightning]
4) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Blue Center, Boby Zavala, El Cavernario
5) Máximo, Rush, Super Porky vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas
6) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero © vs Atlantis, Valiente, Volador Jr. [CMLL TRIOS]
Second defense for the Guerreros

Atlantis was the last challenge, tries different partners this time. Mid July means we’re officially in “titles changes are done to support a dumb tournament” season. There’s 16 CMLL champions right now, though 2 are currently broken. No one on the tecnico side is already a champion, so it’s stick at 16 even with change. Would they rather have the tecnicos in the CMLL Universal tournament or the rudos?

Whoever’s booking Puebla has no idea Dragon Rojo has turned – people are on all different pages on this one, which is just plain weird. If Blanca does lose and retire as everyone suspects, this tercera will be the only Sugehit versus Blanca singles match ever…unless they do it in Arena Mexico as well, which they really should.

CMLL (TUE) 07/22/2014 Arena México
1) Magnus & Sensei vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
2) Angelito, Astral, Eléctrico vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito
3) Fuego, Rey Cometa, Tritón vs Ephesto, Misterioso Jr., Virus
4) Stuka Jr. vs Felino [lightning]
5) Marco Corleone, Máscara Dorada, Titán vs Cavernario, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
6) Valiente vs Euforia

They’ve been on/off building to a Valiente versus Euforia the last few weeks, but it’s another sort of rare singles non-title match (and their first ever singles match.)

Titan and Cavernario continue facing off. Title match seems to be happening either 07/29 or 08/05.

CMLL (TUE) 07/22/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Exterminador & Virgo vs Mr. Trueno & Rey Trueno
2) Dark Angel, Estrellita, Silueta vs Amapola, Dalys, Zeuxis
3) Sky Kid & Smaker vs Boby Zavala & Olímpico [OCCIDENTE TAG]
Third defense for Sky Kid and Smaker.
4) Ángel de Oro, Sagrado, Super Porky vs Kráneo, Mr. Águila, Ripper
5) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Volador Jr. vs Gran Guerrero, Shocker, Último Guerrero

The hat really outdid itself with the Boby Zavala & Olimpico team.
