Stigma vs Virus, Jarrett vs Electroshock, Park vs Wagner, ChilangaMask

CMLL (MON) 07/07/2014 Arena Puebla [Periodico Enfoque, Periodico Enfoque (fotos)]
1) Paris & Robin b Ares & Guerrero Espacial
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Blue Center, Fuerza Chicana, Hijo del Signo b Dragon Lee, Milenium, Tigre Rojo Jr.
Dragon Lee is listed as wrestling, though he’s missed every match since last Tuesday. Rudos took 1/3, with Blue Center using the ropes to beat Tigre Rojo.
3) Rey Cometa, Stigma, Stuka Jr. b Puma, Tiger, Virus
Tecnicos took 2/3, Stigma beating Virus and challenging for his title.
4) Cavernario, Ephesto, Mr. Niebla b Máximo, Titán, Tritón
Rudos took 1/3.
5) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero b Atlantis, Valiente, Volador Jr.
Guerreros took 1/3. UG fouled Atlantis in the third, Valiente pulled off UG’s mask in revenge, and Tirantes only saw Valiente’s mask pull so he DQed the tecnicos.

Stuka and Virus are set for next week. Blue Center and Tigre Rojo seems to be a feud going forward as well.

Today’s CMLL show should be back to the Dragon Rojo problems. He’s teaming up with a fellow Revolucionario – Polvora instead of Rey Escorpion, changed last night – and hasn’t fared too well with his partners of late. Valiente and Euforia also have issues from last week. The semimain includes first En Busca de un Idolo winner Titan versus current winner en Busca de un Idolo. Indeserables versus Bucanero, Terrible, Shocker main events in Guadalajara.

Other CMLL card changes include Dragon Lee being taken out of Sunday’s card, which makes me very skeptical he actually wrestled last night in Puebla. Magnus is added to that card, and Soberano moves up a match. Since Polvora is working Arena Mexico, Ephesto takes his spot in Guadalajara. Also, once again, Esfinge is booked in both Arena Mexico and Arena Coliseo Guadalajara again tonight. He’s surely in Arena Mexico and the Guadalajara crew may even know who’s replacing him, but the Guadalajara locals part of the CMLL.com lineups never get corrected.

AAA’s still teasing Jeff Jarrett versus Electroshock as a hair match, with Electroshock noting Mesias is still hurt so he’s taking up the fight for him. Should this match actually happen, which I have a hard time believing, Jarrett has to be beating Electroshock. Which would seem to mean Jarrett would’ve beat Mesias, and I don’t understand why AAA would do that so this is all confusing to me. (I don’t actually know why they’re doing that with Electroshock, except they’ve got nothing else to do with him, come to think of it.)

Vicente Viloni (real name Tomás Yankelevich), former lead tecnico of Argentina’s 100% Lucha, is now a hairdresser. The story they told at the close of the promotion was Viloni decided to retire and then the promotion fell apart, but he indicates it was the opposite order here. Viloni said he thought about opening a gym, but he’d need to be there all the time and he can work visiting sick children and birthday parties into his schedule easier if he’s cutting hair. (Hip Hop Man is doing better all the time.)

Dr. Wagner Jr.’s season of La Isla starts this weekend. Will he finish better than Shocker? (Shocker was on the first ones out when everyone else decided he was too much of a physical wreck to continue, so it’s an exceptionally low bar.) Enjoy how they mention Wagner being UWA champion but not so much AAA.

This week’s SuperLuchas writes about 50 years of Mil Mascaras.

A SuperLuchas column on CMLL’s struggles suggests the UWA did not exist and I think implies TNA has a bigger effect on CMLL than AAA. Also, the problem for CMLL is people don’t know who Negro Casas is.

Lineup

IWRG (WED) 07/09/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Vampiro Metálico II vs Electro Boy
2) Capitán Muerte & Matrix Jr. vs Hijo De La Bestia & Zurdog
3) Payaso De Plata & Payaso Extremo vs Rayan & Spartan
main show debuts for the Payasos
4) Alan Extreme, Golden Magic, Metaleon vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Avisman, El Hijo del Diablo
5) Diva Salvaje, Dr. Cerebro, Veneno vs Canis Lupus, Eterno, Fuerza Guerrera [lumberjack strap]

Another Wednesday with more of the younger guys. Fuerza skews the average age. No idea why the main event is a lumberjack strap match. The last we saw Capitan Muerte, he was Bombero Infernal (aka Matrix Sr.) Someone else might have the name now.

No Sunday lineup as of yet. It’s possible they may be skipping a week, since the show here would normaly start not long after the World Cup final. Or it may just be IWRG putting up posters late. (Still, this is a strange Sunday to run Arena Mexico with a loaded card.)

CMLL (MON) 07/14/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Meyer, Milenium, Tigre Rojo vs Akrón, Espíritu Maligno, King Jaguar
Akron’s first match here since March.
2) Lluvia, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Blue Center, Boby Zavala, El Cavernario
4) Virus © vs Stigma [CMLL SL]
Virus’ 7th defense.
5) Atlantis, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero

Two televised defenses and three title matches total; it’s a busy year for Virus and it’s only July. It’s also not out of the question that Stigma gets a big win in his home Puebla arena. (It would be out of the question in any other location.) Tiger Rojo Jr. and Center get higher opportunities higher up than usual as well.

Rematch in the main event might be setting up a trios title match.

All Elite (SAT) 07/19/2014 Deportivo Morelos Cuajimalpa, Ciudad de México, Distrito Federal
1) Centvrión & Dinamic Black vs Emperador Azteca (IWRG) & Imposible
2) Rayman & Rey Horus vs Bestia 666 & Damián 666
3) Extreme Tiger & Huracan Ramirez Jr. vs Relámpago (Coahuila) & Zumbi
4) Dr. Wagner Jr. vs LA Park

Ahhh, that’s why the Tijuana guys are in. It’s probably not a great sign that the I’m only finding out about this show because there’s a listing for it on Ticketmaster; it could use some promotion.

ChilangaMask (SUN) 07/20/2014 Coliseo Coacalco, Coacalco, Estado de México
1) ? vs ??
2) Arez vs Hormiga
3) Tempestad vs Magnifico, Tóxico DF, Radge, Hip Hop Man, Tornado
4) Impulso vs Belial
5) Astro Rey Jr., Maverick Benji, Psico Kid vs Karma, Kronoz, Obscuro
6) Zoom Driver vs Carisma [30s Style]
7) Black Terry vs Aero Boy
8) Trauma I & Trauma II vs Mohicano Sr. & Piel Roja

Match order will change on the day of the show. Star power is way down after the falling out with CMLL and Ricky Marvin being in AAA, but they’ll just have to rebuild with indy guys.

  1. Maybe they will save Electroshock vs. Jarrett hair vs. hair for the first GFW show??????????

  2. If Jarrett vs Electroshock happens, at least we will know ahead of time what the worst match will be.
