06/20 AAA TV Results (Puebla) – Psycho vs Texano, mask vs hair, set for TripleMania

AAA TV (FRI) 06/20/2014 Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo, Puebla, Puebla [AAA]
1) Faby Apache, Ludxor, Venum b El Apache, Mamba, Sexy Star
Faby beat Sexy Star with a Tiger suplex.
2) Aerostar, Alebrije, Niño Hamburguesa b Carta Brava Jr., Fresero Jr., Súper Fly
La Sociedad ran in after the match (on THIS tecnico trio) so Texano could yell at the crowd. Psycho Clown ran them off.
3) Daga, Eterno, Steve Pain b Australian Suicide, Drago, Joe Lider
Daga submitted Suicide with a Mata Leon after Pentagon Jr. got involved.
4) Angélico, Electroshock, Fénix b Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Pentagón Jr.
Fenix beat Pentagon Jr. after Australian Suicide
5) Cibernético, Myzteziz, Psycho Clown b Averno, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Zorro
Myzteziz had Averno in La Mistica but all the rudos ran in before for the DQ before Averno submitted. Texano accepted the hair versus mask challenge for TripleMania. Tecnicos ran off the rudos to end the show.

Air Date: 06/28 – top 3 or 4 will air, opener’s surely airing only on YouTube.

Seemed pretty likely AAA was actually doing the hair/mask match after the Verano de Escandalo promos, and that looks to be the semimain on the big show. The only way Psycho Clown is losing that is if AAA believes the gimmick is holding the wrestler back, and I doubt they believe that’s the situation. It’s going to be a weird situation for the world champion to lose a singles match on the biggest show of the year and still be the world’s champion, but it looks like the decision was made long ago to sacrifice the value of that title to build up the apuesta match. (That also means we’re likely to see this match once more before the end of the year.)

Pentagon and Australian Suicide are also feuding as if they’re having a TripleMania mask match, but that one seems unlikely as is – they’re not important enough to have a singles match, and they’re not going to do two straight ones of those. Rob brought up the idea of doing a cage match with them and the rest of the assorted midcarders and that’s probably the best bet. It’s also possible AAA just does one apuesta match and not much else, like the rest of the big shows of late.

Next taping is next Friday in Queretaro.

Cavernario wins En Busca de un Idolo, Atlantis win Leyenda de Azul

Cavernario wins

CMLL (FRI) 06/20/2014 Arena México [CMLL]
1) Kamaitachi & Shigeo Okumura b Hombre Bala Jr. & Tritón Hombre Bala Jr. & Triton vs Kamaitachi & Shigeo Okumura, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Rudos took 1/3 in a good match.
2) La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany b Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Princesa Sugheit  (posted by thecubsfan)
Rudas took 1/3. Princesas continued to feud, with Blanca using the ropes to beat Sugheit.
3) Delta, Stuka Jr., Titán b Pólvora, Puma, Tiger Delta, Stuka Jr., Titan vs Polvora, Puma, Tiger, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Delta replaced Rey Cometa. Tecnicos took 2/3 in a great match.
4) Cavernario b Hechicero [En Busca de un Idolo, final (posted by thecubsfan)
Top two finishes from En Busca de un Idolo (Dragon Lee finished 3rd, Cachorro finished 4th). Cavernario defeated Hechicero in a great match by escaping from a Hechicero lift into a sleeper and then into the cavernaria.
5) Atlantis b La SombraRushMr. NieblaSuper PorkyLa MáscaraMáximoValienteShockerTerribleÚltimo GuerreroRey BucaneroDragón Rojo Jr.EuforiaRey EscorpiónVangellys[Leyenda de Azul]
Battle royal set teams. Eliminations: Vangellys, Rey Escorpion, La Sombra, Euforia, Super Porky, Mr. Niebla, Terrible, Dragon Rojo, Shocker, Maximo, Rey Bucanero, Valiente, La Mascara and Rush, leaving Ultimo Guerrero and Atlantis. They ripped each other’s mask and Atlantis grabbed the ropes for leverage on a pin to beat Ultimo Guerrero.

Crowd seemed up from last week (which also seemed up.) I’m not exactly sure why – it’d be neat if En Busca de un Idolo was the reason but I’m still doubtful a lot of people are seeing it. Crowd was into the matches during the Terra show, which was one of the best ones of those they’ve aired.

Cavernario got caught on the post trying his apron thru the corner tope a couple minutes into the match, falling short of Hechicero. Hechicero didn’t sell the (non-existent) contact, stomping Cavernario and establishing himself as the rudo in the match just by acknowledging the mistake. They got the crowd back soon after (Cavernario came back to get in his top rope splash to the floor) and had them the rest of the way. There were people rooting for Cavernario, but there was also a strong positive reaction for Hechicero winning. The spot at the end was Hechicero lifting up Cavernario for an off the shoulder flapjack – same thing he used to set up his win against Cachorro last week – but Cavernario escaping into a sleeper and craftily turning that into a cavernaria for the win. This was a great match to end a great tournament.

Everyone got trophies, but there’s no mention of where they go from here. Cavernario’s in line for a title shot based on recent years, but it’s not certain who it would be against – most likely Titan. The runner up the last few years has ended up one of the top factions – Euforia left the Cancerberos to join the Guerreros, Valiente became part of Estetas del Aire – and there are obvious groups Hechicero could join.

It’s tough to put anything by CMLL after last year, but they’re very much signaling Ultimo Guerrero versus Atlantis will happen and will happen soon. They’ll sell out and maybe repair some bridges if they actually do it, but there’s no telling with them.

Tercera is worth checking out too.

Segunda Caida calls the En Busca de un Idolo final Must See.

The Gladiatores posts their last interview with Tony Sugar.

More boxing tomorrow in Arena Mexico.

+LuchaTV has Tiger & Puma hyping up a mask match with the Traumas which will never happen.

CMLL put up their own cut of the Informa show.

Lineup

IWRG (WED) 06/25/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Sky Ángel vs Electro Boy
2) Alfa & Omega vs Hijo De La Bestia & Kaling Black
3) Ciclon Black & Dragón Celestial vs Anubis Black & Zurdog
4) Alan Extreme, Emperador Azteca, Metaleon vs Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Relámpago vs Apolo Estrada Jr., Guerrero Mixtico, Tony Rivera

Apolo and Cerebro pick up their feud. Could the semimain be good? (I have no idea Metaleon.)

CMLL (FRI) 06/27/2014 Arena México
1) Robin & Starman vs Inquisidor & Súper Comando
2) Dark Angel, Marcela, Princesa Sugehit vs Dalys, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca
3) Cachorro, Cavernario, Dragon Lee, Negro Casas, Soberano Jr. vs Guerrero Negro Jr., Hechicero, Star Jr., Súper Halcón Jr., Virus [En Busca de un Idolo, cibernetico]
4) Titán, Valiente, Volador Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
5) Atlantis, Mr. Niebla, Shocker vs La Sombra, Rush, Último Guerrero [Relevos Increíbles]

It’s a never ending sequence of Relevos Increibles (until they just officially turn some people.) Semimain could be fun, not sure if that airs on Terra or not. You really get a sense of how out gunned Team Virus is when you see the names together there. Princesas continue to feud – announcers are talking mask/hair but they’re not doing in ring promos to do that.

En Busca de un Idolo final, AAA in Puebla, Fuerza defeats Magic

IWRG (WED) 06/18/2014 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG Facebook, The Gladiatores]
1) Zurdog b Galaxy
2) Látigo & Sky Ángel b Hijo De La Bestia & Kaling Black
3) Dragón Celestial & Emperador Azteca b Atomic Star & Electro Boy
4) Canis Lupus, Hip Hop Man, Tony Rivera b Alan Extreme, Ciclon Black, Dr. Cerebro
No idea why Ciclon Black is now on the tecnico side. A man in an Electro Boy mask ran in and hit Dr. Cerebro with a piece of dry wall. Team Neza picked up the win, and the man unmasked to reveal – Apolo Estrada Jr.
5) Fuerza Guerrera & Guerrero Mixtico b Black Terry & Golden Magic
Tecnicos took the first, rudos took the second (both when the other side was winning most of the fall.) Terry & Mixtico double pinned in the third, and Fuerza snuck in a foul on Magic to win.

So Fuerza is going to beat Golden Magic every single time except for the title match (where Magic got sort of a fluke win.) Can’t imagine why there are no new stars.

Tonight’s CMLL show is main evented by a 16 man Leyenda de Azul, probably a cibernetico. There’s nothing super meaningful about this match; it’s tended to be used to give wins to second tier guys to try to move them up a little – La Mascara is more likely to win than La Sombra, for instance. There are current feuds being followed up here – the Indeseables vs Casas/Shocker (and maybe Niebla), Atlantis vs Ultimo Guerrero, even Escorpion/Maximo could come back again.

Rey Bucanero believes TRT will be able to work together to win Leyenda de Azul.

The two months En Busca de un Idolo tournament comes to end in the Terra portion of the show, with Cavernario facing Hechicero in the final. I’ve already wrote a lot about the tournament (and wrote more about Cavernario and Hechicero over on tumblr) so the only thing left to say is to pick a winner. My guess is Cavernario, keeping his winning ways thru the tournament, but it feels like no more than 55/45 bet. I’m rooting just for those two to finish off the tournament with another match at the level of the rest of the tournament – the whole competition deserves a good ending.

Video promos: Cavernario and Hechicero  hype the final, while Blue Panther talks to Cachorro about not making the final.

The Terra show also has a very good bonus match, with Tiger, Puma and Polvora facing Stuka, Titan and Rey Cometa. That’ll be a bunch of gifs all on it’s own. The rest of the undercard includes another Princesa/Princesa match and a Fiebre Amarilla/Triton/Bala tag match to open.

There hasn’t been much to say about AAA since Verano de Escandalo, but that’ll change tonight. AAA is back to taping TV in Puebla tonight. They’re running the indoor (and smaller) Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo building and should pack 4,000 in it for the first Myzteziz match in Puebla in five years. He teams with Cibernetico and Psycho Clown to face Averno, Perro Aguayo and the returning Zorro.

These post-Verano de Escandalo shows do not reveal any specific plans for TripleMania so far, but this card has a weirder mix in the midcard than most. The random tecnico trio of Angelico, Fenix and Electroshock take on Consejo’s Fantasma, Mascara Ano 2000 with Pentagon Jr. Anarquia team up in the terecra, facing Drago, Joe Lider and Australian Suicide (not facing Pentagon Jr., but still figure on something since they’re on the same card.) The new Alebrije works in his hometown as part of a Super Fly vs Aerostar feud – but Aerostar won’t be teaming with the Cadetes, since they’re they’re opener instead.

Zorro hypes tonight’s main event. Zorro says there people hate him or love him but never ignore him. It sure seems like Zorro’s been ignored the last couple of months.

Mesias promo on Jeff Jarrett from TV. I would totally be okay with Jarrett and Mesias’ feud existing only in YouTube promos – I won’t even complain about the match at the end if there are no Jarrett matches prior.

Tony Sugar has passed away.

Rob has highlights of 03/28/14 CMLL.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Segunda Caida watches Marco Corleone vs Universo 2000.

Impulso vs Belial has been added to the 07/20 ChilangaMask show.

Sin Cara will be part of a show at Arena Lopez Mateos on 08/16, the day prior to TripleMania.

Shocker & Negro Casas are #1 on this week’s CMLL Top 10.

Sombra is selling shirts and masks via gmail.

Cronicas y Leyendas looks back at Mil Mascaras vs Kamala, when Mil was only old and not yet elderly.

Fuego en el Ring interviews Estrella Explosiva, neglects to mention her name in the interview. I don’t know what it means when I can identify indy luchadoras by pictures alone, but it doesn’t read like a good thing.

Skayde and Solar will be in Chicago on 07/06. I have no idea where Arena Jammba is (or that there was one), but they have an address so it’s a maybe. It’s listed on the poster as a singles match, but is unlikely.
