CMLL (MON) 06/09/2014 Arena Puebla [Periodico Enfoque, Periodico Enfoque (fotos)]
1) Leono, Magnus, Paris b Akuma, Ares, Espíritu Maligno
Tecnicos took 2/3.
2) Blue Center, Pequeño Warrior, Saurón b Astral, Asturiano, Eléctrico
Straight falls, with Warrior and Asturiano feuding. Recaps says fans aren’t into this feud.
3) Ángel de Oro, Pegasso, Tritón b Sangre Azteca, Skándalo, Virus
Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Máximo b Rey Bucanero, Rey Escorpión, Terrible
Tecnicos took 2/3, Atlantis submitting Escorpion and asking for a match. Escorpion agreed.
5) La Sombra DQ Shocker
Quick open falls – La Sombra took the first, Shocker the second. Shocker shoved Tirantes for counting too slow in the third fall, causing the DQ.
Main event finish is peculiar. It doesn’t make sense with anything they’re doing – maybe it wasn’t the originally planned finish.
Tonight’s CMLL main event has Volador Jr., Valiente and Titan versus Mephisto, Ephesto and Puma, which should be a pretty good match. I’ve watched about none of the links I posted this morning, but I do know Valiente challenged Mephisto on TV after their match last week, so maybe that’s the feud of the moment. The Arkangel/Gallo feud has a lightning match, which means no one but the 1000 people in the building will see it. CMLL is the least aware promotion in the world sometimes.
Fantasy replaces Stukita tonight in the minis match. Vaquerita is in for Lluvia on Sunday.
CMLL Gaceta writes about famous people who’ve been to their shows. Cast members from Que Rico Mamba, which Marco appears in, were at Friday’s show. La Gusana Ciega will be in Arena Mexico tonight.
+LuchaTV has video of new Consejo referee Rafael el Maya. At least they got a CMLL referee who would be good at being evil. Most of the actual CMLL referees struggle just trying to playing it straight.
AAA officially announced the 06/20 Puebla lineup, with Myzteziz in the luchador surprise spot (and no longer in silhouette.) I still can’t remember how to spell Myzteziz without cheating.
Mesias says his shoulder injury is the worst of his career but is anxious to be back soon. No specific date said, but he does bring up the feud with Jeff Jarrett. AAA ran a couple of promos for that as a hair match earlier this year – there is no obvious set up to the feud, they just both suddenly decided they hated each other. If Mesias makes it back for TripleMania (no idea, article is very vague on his return), he figures to be in the annual Jeff Jarrett Wacky Foreign All Stars tag match.
DTU TV made a totally unexpected return last night, with two matches from the 11/23/12 taping. The last episode back in February was from the same taping. I wonder if this DVD had just been sitting in a drawer somewhere for four months?
Indepdent luchadora Keira – she’s worked in DTU among other places – says she’s got an offer to join CMLL.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update and this week’s PosterMania.
Rob fantasy books the end of En Busca de un Idolo. Whichever way CMLL goes, I just hope they go somewhere with the final – they need a plan to keep the momentum of this tournament going.
Segunda Caida reviews week 7 of En Busca de un Idolo. I’ve put together a playlist of all the matches rated Must See by Phil over on YouTube, in case you want to check at this tournament without watching all the matches. I’ll add the one mentioned here when I get a chance.
LuchaMania Monterrey has added Hechicero vs Caifan to their 07/05 show.
Ohtani’s Jacket reviews a mid 90s Llanes/Dandy trios.
Sombra doesn’t care how he won Friday’s title match, because winning is the only thing that matters. Also, Sombra assures us that he’s the best.
Chik Tormenta talks about her international travels this year.
80s luchador El Criminal talks about his rough upbringing and early drug addiction.
Lineup
CMLL (MON) 06/16/2014 Arena Puebla
1) Águila Egipcia, Black Tiger, Tigre Rojo Jr. vs Fuerza Chicana, Guerrero Espacial, Toro Bill Jr.
2) Astral, Asturiano, Bam Bam, Meyer, Stukita vs Blue Center, Demus 3:16, Pequeño Warrior, Pierrothito, Saurón [cibernetico]
3) Estrellita, Goya Kong, Princesa Sugheit vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis
4) La Máscara, Marco Corleone, Rush vs Kráneo, Ripper, Shocker
5) Rey Escorpión © vs Atlantis [CMLL LH]
Rey Escorpion’s 10th defense. Last was in this building, six weeks ago.
Webpage actually lists Shocker as challenging, but Shocker’s got other problems on this show. Mije better run for cover.
Defending the same title in the same building (or same day of the week) is something CMLL should do more frequently. Title changes might mean more if that same audience has seen the champion retain a few times. There are other more obvious fixes but that would help.
A cibernetico like the second match foretells a cage match coming up – maybe as soon as next week. It also allows some less frequent names to slip on to the card: the Tigre Rojo vs Toro Bill feud gets back in this building.
