Dragon Lee out of the ring dropkick

CMLL (TUE) 05/20/2014 Arena México [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Metatrón & Sensei b Espanto Jr. & Zayco Metatron & Sensei vs Espanto Jr. & Zayco, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Goya Kong, La Vaquerita, Silueta b La Comandante, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca Goya Kong, La Vaquerita, Silueta vs La Comandante, La Seductora, Princesa Blanca, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Tecnicas took 2/3.
3) Black Panther, Oro Jr., Starman DQ Disturbio, Hooligan, Metálico Black Panther, Oro Jr., Starman vs Disturbio, Hooligan, Metalico, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Metailco’s rudo debut, feuding with Oro Jr. Tecnicos took 2/3, Metalico pulling off Oro Jr.’s mask for the DQ.
4) Dragon Lee TLDRAW Hechicero [En Busca de un Idolo] Dragon Lee vs Hechicero in a En Busca de un Idolo match, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
10 minute draw. Hechicero appeared to have the match won in time, but Pompin called a kickout or shoulder up that wasn’t apparent. (Hechicero then threw Dragon Lee out, guaranteeing the countout.) The two continued to brawl and had to be pulled apart. Judges for tonight were Brazo de Plata (guest), Maximo (replacing Shocker), Dragon Rojo (replacing Mr. Niebla) and Tirantes. Dragon Lee scored a 8, 9, 8, 2 (27) and Hechicero scored a 7, 10, 8, 2 (27) with Tirantes punishing both for not finishing.
5) Star Jr. b Guerrero Negro Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo] Star Jr. vs Guerrero Negro Jr. in a En Busca de un Idolo match, on DailyMotion (posted by thecubsfan)
Star Jr. rallied back from a missed tope to win the match in a much more spotty match. Star Jr. scored a 10, 8, 8, 3 (29) and Guerrero Negro Jr. scored a 10, 8, 10, 10 (38).
6) Puma, Terrible, Tiger b Diamante Azul, Máscara Dorada, Rey Cometa
Rudos took falls 2/3, Terrible beating Azul. Terrible demanded Azul put up his title next week, if he wasn’t scared. Azul accepted the match.
7) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero © b Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. [CMLL TRIOS]
Guerreros are champions. Guerrero took 1/3, UG beat Atlantis to keep the titles. Maya went into the crowd on a dive in the third fall. First defense.

Title match does sound like it was pretty good.

Terrible, heavyweight champion of the world, challenging for a lesser weight title doesn’t make a lot of sense but CMLL has too many titles and this is what happens when you have too many titles. I wonder if there’s an exact reason for Azul getting a renewed focus the last month, or if his name was just pulled out of the hat. Probably the hat.

Hechicero & Niebla Roja is the first time limit draw in this tournament since week 1 of the first year, when Niebla Roja and Titan also drew. Both the draw and the extended fight after the match seemed like a heavy tease for a Dragon Lee/Hechicero final – though Dragon Lee not winning actually put him in more danger of not making the final four!

The judging scoring was increasingly erratic last night. Hechicero and Dragon Lee got lower scores because of their non-finish (docking them for it twice, since neither man got all 20 decision points), but Guerrero Negro Jr. getting one of the highest scores of the competition for his match was ludicrous. It may have just been no one taking the scores that seriously since Guerrero Negro Jr. was already eliminated.

Cachorro leads Star Jr. by 16 points and Dragon Lee by 22 points. As I write this, Cachorro and Dragon Lee lead Star Jr. in the poll, with Lee far enough ahead that he should pick up the seven points he needs to take fourth. Cachorro and Dragon Lee should join Hechicero and Cavernario in the final four.

CMLL will officially announce the final four tonight on yet another Terra broadcast. They’ll be airing “CMLL Informa” at 6pm CT tonight, and the hype made it sound like it’s a new weekly program. They should also confirm the setup for Friday’s trios match and confirm the setup for the next round (should be three more weeks of round robin singles matches if it’s like last year.)

CMLL (TUE) 05/20/2014 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara [@acogdl]

Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Canelo Casas, Demonio Maya, Skándalo b Black Metal, Magnus, Stigma
Skandalo’s first match since September, since an eye injury in August (and a few false starts.) He had a new look, but still won with the Skandalo Driver (on Stigma). Rudos took 2/3.
3) Dark Angel, Estrellita, Lluvia b Amapola, Tiffany, Zeuxis
Tecnicas took 1/3.
4) La Máscara, La Sombra, Valiente b Cavernario, Herodes Jr., Rey Bucanero
Tecnicos took 1/3, but Sombra & Mascara turned on Valiente after the match.
5) Volador Jr. b Rey Escorpión
Volador took 2/3.

Volador/Escorpion should air on 52MX on May 31st.

Doesn’t look like Sin Cara drew that well in Tabasco last night. The turnout for his shows seems to vary greatly depending on the lcoation, which suggestion local promotion may be an issue. Earlier in the day, Sin Cara told a local paper he wants to try to be a star under a third name. Sin Cara appeared to have little choice but get a third name if he was to appear on TV again, but had previously been strongly saying he would keep the Sin Cara name. It looks like he’s finally changed his mind, and maybe we’ll get hear that new name as soon as Saturday.

CMLL posted a video of Mistico talking about his accident and his injury. There’s pretty graphic photo of the rod being implanted into his leg about two minutes in and more bloody footage three minutes in, so maybe you don’t want to watch while eating a meal.

Doradafan has highlights of 04/15/2014 CMLL.

Segunda Caida watches Diamante Azul, La Máscara, Rush vs Rey Bucanero, Shocker, Último Guerrero and Blue Panther, Black Panther, Cachorro vs Felino, Puma, Tiger from Puebla.

R de Rudo has an interview with Rey Cometa.

La Parka & Drago beat Texano & Silver King in Monterrey.

Diana la Cazadora & Angelico defeated Flor de Loto & Hija de Zarzy by DQ in LLF; Diana unmasked Zarzy over a decade ago, so this was the daughter trying trying to avenge her mother.

Elegido talks about Friday’s match.

5) Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 vs X-Fly, Eterno, Hijo de Pirata Morgan [mask, hair, prison fatal]

This is the confusing cage match with luchadors chained to the cage and having to get a key to free themselves, unless they’ve changed it this year. It’s be a surprise if anyone besides X-Fly lost his hair.
