IWRG, AAA announcing changes

Straight falls when Astro Rey Jr. decided he rather be a rudo. He took Latigo’s mask after the match.
2) Alan Extreme, Golden Magic, Metaleon b Guerrero Mixtico, Hip Hop Man, Orión
Guerrero Mixtico wants a hair match with Alan Extreme.
3) Apolo Estrada, El Hijo del Diablo, Tony Rivera DQ Black Terry, Dr. Cerebro, Veneno
Straight falls. Apolo faked a foul in the second.
4) Demon Clown, Eterno, X-Fly b Hijo De Dos Caras, Súper Nova, Toscano
Eterno was wearing his Anarquia gear. Demon snuck in a foul on Dos in the third.
5) Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 b Hijo de Pirata Morgan [IWRG Rey del Ring]
Hijo de Mascara Ano 2000 is champion. Eterno seconded Pirata, X-Fly seconded Mascara. Pirata took the first, Mascara the second. Ref got knocked down in the third, Mascara put Pirata in a hold, Eterno ran in – and knocked out Pirata, giving Mascara an easy pin. Mascara was unhappy about Eterno getting involved. Eterno proposed a four way with Pirata, Mascara, Eterno and X-Fly – and X-Fly attacked Eterno. First defense.

Why did Eterno bring X-Fly into it? That seemed like it backfired. Leave X-Fly alone!

This local paper review of Saturday’s AAA TV taping is strange. It puts the attendance at 8,000 for what was listed as a 3,500 building elsewhere. They mention Mistico appearing in the main event – all I saw was a guy in white who doesn’t have a name. They do mention there was a dark match with members of the Gallo Sureno family (won by the tecnicos), and they say Arturo Rivera was joined by Eric Fisher and our old friend Leonardo Riano for commentary. No mention of Jesus Zuniga or Andres Maronas. Sure enough, there’s a picture of all three of them together at the show. Enrique Yniesta also alluded to this Saturday, though I didn’t pick up what he meant at the time.

No idea if this is just for the Chiapas shows (which are listed as sponsored by Televisa) or if a long term change has been made. AAA’s recap did mention a New Era, which may have meant more than Mistico just showing up. This seems a very lateral move at any rate – I don’t know Fisher, hopefully he’s great, but Riano’s just goofed around on the CMLL Televisa broadcast. He came off like lucha libre was beneath him, and that he would rather be someplace else. It’s possible it was just CMLL and he’ll be better in AAA, but Riano hasn’t seemed that more interested when he’s worked on TripleMania PPV broadcasts. Maybe it’ll be better this time around. The current crew hasn’t been that good either. The Televisa announcing is never going to be aimed for what I’m looking for, but I’d like it not to detract and distract from the broadcast.

A local preview of next Saturday’s taping in Tuxtla Guiterrez confirms it’s also a free show.
