Villano IV vs Chessman for the AAA Latin American Championship: Great. This was a wild battle, Villano IV bring back a Toreo brawl in another building with some history for him. They worked the match that was most likely to work, Villano IV going full blast fighting, forcing Chessman to match him until Chessman finally got his big shot in. Villano IV is not a guy who needs to be wrestling every week but can still do this when he needs to for big matches – this wasn’t far off his bigger TxT matches. A lot of blood and too many hard chair shots to the head, but they got the crowd to care about this match and not really care tall that much about the one they didn’t get. Chessman did sort of prove Blue Demon’s point about not be able to wrestle without chairs and tables, so maybe this wasn’t the greatest match for him. Also weird that Alan Stone started feuding with Chessman by being a ineffectual corner man who was put thru a table, and though this meant he had the heart to get a title shot.
Angélico & Jack Evans vs Hijo del Fantasma & Psicosis and Aerostar & Drago and Demon Rocker & Machine Rocker for the AAA World Tag Team Championship: Great. Fun match that got better as it went. I could go for a full length Rockers vs Jack/Angelico match, but it worked even better since the Rockers moves actually worked against the other guys. The early part was chaotic, with so much going on that they kind of sat out the Rockers until the other rudo team got eliminated, and things were smoother from there. Aerostar and Drago didn’t getting a whole lot as a team – the team that only exists when major shows need random tag challengers – but Aerostar did get to nearly die so it was a night well spent. Jack and Angelico have the tag team stuff down, just need more people to push them.
La Parka vs Zorro, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Black Warrior in a AAA’s Rey de Reyes Tournament final: Way too long, and this was not an especially long match. The idea of Parka going thru three rudos to win (similar to the opener) but Parka ran out of gas by guy #2 and it required these rudos to be the dumbest people possible. They did their best on that level, and in general, but the best of Perro Aguayo Jr. today isn’t enough to make this match interesting by shot. This is exactly the level of match you’d expect it to be.
