recap

taped 2014-03-14 @ Arena Mexico

Roja cutter (which Atlantis took like a champ)

Niebla Roja & Stuka sprinted to get a lot in a short time, and had at least one plan for a tag move, so they were ahead of the game. Niebla Roja has a couple of iffy moments but was mostly fine. These two got all the near falls before the finish.

floating headscissors

Mascara Dorada & Mephisto. Dorada may never make it out of the first round of his tournaments these days, but always has a cool mask for the occasion and the Mephisto/Dorada half one worked well here. He crushed Marco on his dive, maybe more than what was planned. I don’t know if these matches are just that short or if he has something else to do, but Puma didn’t turn up on commentary until the second match.

Best friends?

What is the deal with Delta’s new tiny cape? Never a positive sign when they have to edit out Aguila’s heel kick. His chops were also badly missing Negro Casas, who wasn’t moving, he fell on his usual flip and he bizarrely walked out while Delta was still fighting. Wonder if his performance put a scare into everyone one week before they were going to really count on Shocker.

Negro Casas is disappointed in you.

Super Porky and Kraneo got the required edited to nothing match. Super Porky even lost to a sunset flip, which is a rare night for him. Monito seemed very concerned with being attacked post match.

Diamante Azul uses his head

Terrible and Marco were highly entertaining walking to a team in their second match, which wasn’t much a match thanks to more editing. We got slightly evil Marco, which fit with the teams they were facing. They left the trickest Dorada stuff to Terrible, which worked out ok. No one in the world has lost more on reversed planchas than Marco Corleone.

nah

Negro Casas and Blue Panther teased problems before their match, but never really had any and just kind of wrestled a couple of matches. The first didn’t go great because of who else was involved, but Panther felt off and the matches were disappointing. Blue Panther’s distrust of Negro Casas was fun, at least.

Diamante Azul & Rey Bucanero felt like a random team thrown together to lose in the first round, except they somehow just kept winning, even beating Panther & Casas with their own holds. Rudo Diamante Azul is moderately more interesting than técnico Diamante Azul, but their second match was sloppy and they didn’t do much for me as a team.

Atlantis and Euforia did a lot of moves, and then just won. The final match, the longest of the show, really just seemed like guys getting in their spots (which seemed weird that it took that long for them to get into their spots.) Crowd was happy to see them win anyway, but this didn’t much.
