IWRG FILL (SUN) 03/30/2014 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG]
1) Amarok, Mercenario De La Muerte, Ultimo Caballero b Black Niko, Dragon Blanco, Rey Dragon
2) Galaxy, Seiya, Skull Metal b Cosmos Fugaz, Muerte Infernal, Zurdog
3) Anubis Black, Atomic Star, Fulgor II b Blue Monsther, Payaso De Plata, Payaso Extreme
Atomic Star replaced Matrix Jr.
4) Fresero Jr., Imposible, Picudo Jr. b Emperador Azteca, Metaleon, Mr. Leo
Match was building the Imposible/Azteca rivalry. Azteca was heading to the mat head first after a backdrop, put his arms down to protect himself, and severely injured an elbow. The doctor immediately ran in to check on him, and the rudos quickly beat the tecnicos to end the match.
5) Black Terry, Dragón Celestial, Fulgor I, Látigo, Power Bull, Sky Ángel DQ Andy Boy, Ciclon Black, Haziel, Hip Hop Man, Orión, Tony Rivera [Torneo Fill XXXIII]
Hip Hop Man joined Gym Rivera before the match (replacing Guerrero Mixtico), but acted as a neutral in the team versus team fights. Match came down to Black Terry versus Tony and Orion. Terry ave Orion front and backcrackers, but Rivera threw powder (said to be lime) in Terry’s eyes and Orion covered for the pin. The second referee saw the powder and overturned the finish, DQing Team Neza. This set up Tony Rivera versus Black Terry in a hair match next Sunday, which Tony was not happy about.
I was working on other videos while IWRG was airing – staying up to 2AM and still not getting the video and audio to stay synced on Terra’s HD show from yesterday is no way to go thru life – and so I only saw the Azteca injury and the doctor diving into the ring from the corner of my eye from a distance away. I thought he broke his neck, actually, and thought the only good sign was someone probably would’ve said something about it on Twitter if it was really bad news. (This might have not been the case, everyone might have just been at Arena Fusion.) It wasn’t actually a neck injury, it was an arm going a wrong, ugly way. IWRG doesn’t have any details on how he’s doing.
Crowd might have not noticed. FILL shows have historically drawn well and this show did as well (70-80% full?), but it was less families rooting for their kids and more locals rooting for their favorites. They were really into the Fresero Jr. team and were too busy cheering for the rudos wins to immediately pick up on what just happened. Crowd was way into the main event too.
Black Terry Jr. has photos of Arena Fusion show. I believe Pentagon Jr. won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, pretty cool.
Video of Mr. Leo winning the Perros del Mal Light Heavyweight championship.
Bengali & Difunto I won the CMLI tag team tournament in Arena Coliseo Monterrey. They beat Rico Rodriguez & Galactar.
Preview of tonight’s Arena Puebla show, with Invasors versus Guerreros/Avernos and Volador & Sombra forced to lose as a team again.
There’s a lucha libre convention in Nuevo Laredo next weekend. No names announced.
Cancha German Evers has a full CMLL show on 04/23, which appears to replace the previously announced Sin Cara show in the same building on the same day.
Sin Cara’s keeping busy though – he’s listed on this show with AAA luchadors on 04/27.
Nino de Ebano posted his accreditation cards from when he was training in CMLL.

Last year’s 70th Anniversary show had a women’s cibernetico, a maestros trios, other old people coming back, and a Dragon Rojo versus La Sombra title match. This year, they’re doing…this. It’s got names working lower than usual, but it’s not really in memorable matches. The world needs more round numbers, I guess.
Why were Mercurio and Pequeno Warrior building up a cage main event when it was going to just be masked guys? Did they only totally figure out the idea here in the last 12 hours? Electrico, Astral, Pequeno Olimpico, Pierrothito, and Ultimo Dragoncito aren’t losing their masks in a match like this. Everyone would be floored if Stukita lost. He’s new enough to not be totally invincible, but it’d be a waste. Fantasy and Pequeno Nitro are second tier minis who managed somewhat surprising mask wins in the recent past but could lose here. Acero and Pequeno Halcon are sparsely used. It’s a nice idea to give the minis a chance, but throwing together a random cage match so the best case result of the main event of your anniversary show is Fantasy losing his mask isn’t giving any one a chance.
The last Arena Coliseo cage match was 2006, when Okumura lost his hair to Rey Bucanero in a match where it fairly obvious Okumura was going to be the loser.
