Raziel Driver

recap

taped 2014-01-01 @ Arena Mexico
Pegasso, Sagrado, Sensei vs Puma, Raziel, Sangre Azteca: Though the first fall and half of this was pretty good, but it lost it’s momentum with the second fall DQ (a very quick 10 count for too many rudos in the ring for too long) and the third fall was more ordinary. Puma was over the top in his protest of the DQ and seemed to annoy Tirantes something fierce, but played to the crowd well the rest of the match.

bulletman tope

Hombre Bala Jr. vs Súper Halcón Jr., Dragon Lee, Oro Jr., Stigma, Robin, Guerrero Negro Jr., Canelo Casas, Black Panther, Hijo del Signo, Cachorro, Herodes Jr. in  La Copa Junior: Good cibernetico given the guys involved. Black Panther and Cachorro seem to have potential but both also seem still very green. Dragon Lee wasn’t in long enough to really tell. Canelo Casas did fine for his biggest match yet. It didn’t feel like Hombre Bala got to do much here. Halcón appeared to need to lift someone onto his shoulder to do any move; he probably could use a bit more variety. Last bunch of eliminations were super quick; just one move and eliminated until they gave the final two a little time.

Zacarias defies physics

La Máscara, Máximo, Valiente vs Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas: Standard Peste Negra match for the holiday crowd. It was total formula and keeping it easy – no Valiente dive, many Mascara superkicks, Máximo comedy – plus some interacting with the crowd. Puma cheering on his dad was fun.

Atlantis gets crushed

Mephisto vs Atlantis for the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship: Good match, better than I thought it would be. Action was slow early and Mephisto didn’t seem to have the same cardio as his much older rival, but they got it to feel dramatic by the third. Atlantis doesn’t do a lot but what he does still looks good, and he took that finish like a champ.

  1. @Reapper: Yep. A legend/big main event name losing clean to a younger guy’s finisher in a big singles main event. I can think of many guys who could take lessons. Most of them work TxT shows.
