Dandy in Tijuana, Vampiro in IWRG, WMC

BSW (FRI) 01/17/2014 Auditorio de Tijuana [KrisZ, The Gladiatores]
1) Silver Star b Animal
2) Mazambula & Scream b Pancho Cachondo & Super Xolo
3) Aero Boy & Violento Jack b Arandú & TJ Boy
Compadres Extermos took 1/3. TJ guys wanted a rematch, attacked the outsiders post match.
4) Satánico b El Dandy
Satanico submitted Dandy in what was billed as Dandy’s Tijuana retirement match.
5) LA Park & Super Parka DQ Máscara Año 2000 & Universo 2000
Parks won first and were about to win the second when Mascara Ano 2000 faked a foul. Mascara pulled Park’s mask in the third.

This – Baja Stars Wrestling – is the same group that’s listed as promoted the possibly fake Sin Cara in Tijuana show. There’s was no mention of Sin Cara on this show, which backs the idea it was a fake. Or at least there’s something else more going on with that poster.

IWRG (SUN) 01/19/2014 Arena Naucalpan
1) Seiya & Sky Ángel b Fulgor I & Fulgor II
1) Fulgor I & Fulgor II b Seiya & Sky Ángel
2) Anubis Black & Hijo De La Bestia b Hip Hop Man & Látigo
Hijo de La Bestia’s debut. Hip Hop Man replaced Angel del Amor.
3) Centvrión, Emperador Azteca, Golden Magic b Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
Rudos destroyed Golden Magic, ripping up his mask again, but Magic pinned 911. 911 insisted it was only a two count.
4) Hijo De Dos Caras, Lizmark Jr., Máscara Púrpura b Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Súper Nova
Hijo de Pirata Morgan replaced Cien Caras Jr. Mascara 2000 faked a foul in the first. Purpura did the same in the second – only Mascara just pinned him and it worked for three.
5) Vampiro Canadiense b Pirata Morgan [#1 Contenders, IWRG IC HEAVY]
Vampiro hit the ref by mistake, Hijo de Pirata ran in to help his dad, Pirata went for the pin, and Vampiro surprised him and got the pin anyway.

Two weeks of Vampiro singles matches! Black Terry Jr. has photos of the show, but it looks like New Flickr is being annoying and so there’s no set to directly link. Anyway, from what I can tell from the pictures so far, main event singles Vampiro matches did not draw in the Naucalpan crowd (though the time change might be a bigger issue.) Champion Cien Caras Jr. no showing a week before his title match seems like a bad sign. IWRG hasn’t posted any cards for next week yet.

Rey Bucanero & Sagrado were advertised for the main event of the WMC show in DF on Sunday, but neither was on the show. Other CMLL wrestlers were on the show, so it doesn’t appear to be a CMLL issue. The recap mentions Hijo de Medico Asesino, who’s team won the main event, asked what happened to the CMLL guys after the match but does not record what the promoter said.

El Hijo del Santo was interviewed at WBC president Jose Sulaiman’s funeral, expressing his sadness. He specifically mentioned he was grateful for being the first WBC wrestling champion.  (He’s unsure if WBC will now let him keep the belt, but has to figure out if he’s returning to wrestling first.) Salvador (Chavo) Lutteroth, who has run things at Arena Mexico in the past (including their past boxing shows), was also interviewed and had nice things to say about Sulaiman.

The Villanos, Mascara Ano 2000 and Tinieblas Jr. received sports awards at a banquet. Villano V was specifically given award for his work as a promoter. If you recall, Villano V claimed his first show, his retirement show, lost so much money that he had no choice but immediately come back out of retirement to pay his debts. Awards are dumb.

ChilangaMask has added Rey Bucanero & Pirata Morgan vs Trauma I & Trauma II to the 03/23 show.

Indy luchadora Paloma Rouse talks about being on the March WWL shows, mentions she’s training with CMLL.
