Porky landed his splash on the main event.
5) Felino, Mr. Niebla, Negro Casas b Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente

The CMLL recap also mentioned Mije hurt his shoulder in the Puebla match.

El Hijo del Santo announced he would be suspend his lucha libre career due a spinal injury. The injury is between his fifth and sixth vertebra. There’s a concern of paralysis if it’s not taken fixed, but there doesn’t seem to be any hurry if he stays out of the ring – Santo said he wouldn’t even be having the surgery until February or March. Santo says he’s been dealing with a tingling sensation since September. There is no specific amount of time he will be about; Santo said six or seven months at points in the press conference, but it could be as long as all of 2014. It appears the recovery will take 6-7 months, but Santo waiting to actually have it means that return date is pushed back  pretty far. The exact return date will be a determination by his doctor. Santo made it clear this was not meant to be a retirement and he plans on returning, but will not return if the doctors say he’s at risk for being paralysis.

Santo’s wife is quoted as saying the surgery is the same one the NFL’s Peyton Manning had, which was a neck fusion. The operation itself does not take long, but the recovery takes a while. That article on Manning says patients necks are usually better off after the surgery, though Manning himself had unexpected muscle issues which delayed his recovery. It read as though Santo will most likely be able to return.

There was no attempt to build a feud off this rivalry (which is actually surprising since they did the martinete angle just this summer.) The TxT show this weekend was barely covered – they’ll just be taking Santo out of the main event and making it a three way. All other Santo matches will be “suspended or canceled”, though Santo plans on still appearing on the shows. Santo did say one of the reasons he’s just not retiring is he would like to team with his son, since he was unable to team with his father. Santo even goes as far to say he would only wrestle teaming with his son in 0ne quote. (He says at other points he wanted to wrestle for 40 years.) Santo said the injury was from all the years of wrestling, but said his doctors told him the chair shots to the back were specifically a problem. Santo says his WBC championship is “suspended” unless the WBC decides differently.

Sunday’s Arena Coliseo show is moved to Arena Mexico. Announcers didn’t seem to be sure where were it would be last week and CMLL seems to have changed their mind. That means it’s Titan vs Averno & the ringside barrier.

A Fuego en el Ring article says only 8 luchadoras attended the Stardom tryout, with some others specifically discouraged from trying out by their bosses. Stardom is expected to bring three to Japan, probably from Star Fire, Mystique, Baby Star and Keira, who were the four also on the connected Dos Caras retirement show. It was probably always going to be from that group – why would they already be booked for the show if they weren’t thought to be the best – but those kind of tryouts are probably more useful in instruction and networking as they are actually “winning” the competition.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update, Alfredo on the second Tercera Caida and the ChilangaMask show and PosterMania.

It rained on last Friday’s LLF show (no roof), there were three matches, and two ended in draws. That’s a tough show.

Cronicas y Leyendas looks back at Havana Brother I and Gran Prix 2006.

DJ Spectro likes Maskare & Los Infernales and the irregularity of the UWA Junior Lightheavyweight title in two parts.

The Gladiatores talks to Apolo Estrada and writes about the El Brazo tribute show.

AAA has part 1 of their interview with Taya & Daga.

  1. What’s funny is STARDOM doesn’t even have any news whatsoever of any tryout on their site; they’ve regularly put up stuff about their tryouts.

That said, STARDOM’s gonna need the talent; they’ve got several girls out with injuries, and their attendance has been dropping steadily with the injuries and Yuzuki Aikawa retirement (mostly Aikawa’s retirement).
