CMLL (SUN) 10/27/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Astral & Pequeño Halcón b Pequeño Universo 2000 & Pequeño Warrior
Astral replaced Stukita – it was announced ahead of time, but they still somehow played Stukita’s music.
2) Metálico, Oro Jr., Stigma DQ Camorra, Hooligan, Nitro
Tecnicos won 2/3 when Hooligan tossed Stigma out of the ring by his mask, only Stigma’s mask went one way and Stigma went the other way. Seemed like a botched finish. Camorra & Stigma continue to feud (with the same surprise pinfall in the second.)
3) Rey Cometa, Sagrado, Starman b Boby Zavala, Misterioso Jr., Sangre Azteca
Starman was an announced replacement for Diamante. Tecnicos took 2/3 in a good match, Sagrado beating Misterioso.
4) Tritón DQ Ephesto [lightning]
Ephesto pulled Triton’s mask for the DQ.
5) Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. b Namajague, Puma, Tiger
Tecnicos took it in straight falls. Maya feuded with Namajague all match and finally beat him with Sacrafica Maya. Maya demanded to know where Okumura was (hasn’t been around the last two weeks) and demanded a title match for next week. Namajague – in Japanese – said he did know where Okumura was and was not definite about the title match, though the announcers all thought it was happening.
6) Mistico, Rush, Titán b Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3 with Titan beating both Averno and Mephisto in the third. Titan feuded a little bit with Mephisto, and challenged to a title match. Mephisto eventually said yes.
It did not feel like an all tecnico win night, due to the two DQs. Semimain is worth checking out (though I lost about a minute of it in a feed disruption.) They made it sound as if both title matches could happen next week, which would make for one killer show.
CMLL was advertising a ticket deal for kids in costumes for Friday’s show. They mentioned this about twice every match and I still failed to pay attention enough to explain it to you. I did learn one thing – during the show, I noted Skandalo has been missing for quite some time, and I was later told he’s got an eye injury and will be out until January.
CMLL (SUN) 10/27/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) Brillante & Capitan b Relampago Azul & Samael
Brillante took falls 1/3.
2) El Yaki, Évola, Satara b El Divino, Explosivo, Javier Cruz
Evola’s team took 2/3. Divino replaced Halcon de Plata.
3) Black Metal, Esfinge, Leo DQ Espectrum, Jocker, Sádico
Tecnicos took 2/3. Espectrum fouled Leo for the DQ, while Jocker took Esfinge’s mask.
4) Fuego b Bárbaro Cavernario [OCCIDENTE MIDDLE]
Barbaro came in as champion, but Fuego took falls 2/3 to win the the title.
5) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Pierroth b La Sombra, Súper Popular, Super Porky
Porky replaced La Mascara. Rudos took 1/3, Euforia pulling Sombra’s mask and pinning him. Sombra challenged Euforia to a title match next week.
Fuego’s first ever singles title win! (We’ll pretend the Occidente titles count.) Don’t think Barbaro losing the title necessarily means he’s moving to DF, since it did just go a DF luchador.
French wrestling (or catch!) site has an interview with Diamante Azul where Azul states he had permission from the Blue Demon family to use that name – the Blue Demon name itself. Azul explains CMLL did not want him to use it, so he came up with something close to it. I’ve never heard that before, but there were previous rumors of Blue Demon’s biological son taking the name away from the current user (who is said to be an adopted son) which would fit with this. Azul is very happy with the name change, since it’s got him more attention – inside and outside of CMLL – than he was getting as Metro. Azul says he’s heading home 11/10 for an 11/11 match. There’s more to the interview (like his thoughts on puroresu) if you check it out.
Today’s special Tercera Caida had an interview with many of the Brazos. They plan on running a show to honor el Brazo on 11/23 at Arena Neza. Tentative matches include Brazo de Oro, Brazo de Plata, Maximo and La Mascara versus Ultimo Guerrero, Gran Guerrero, Villano IV, and Villano V and Psycho Circus vs Mesias, La Parka and TBD, but neither match is for sure at this point.
Rob has highlights of 08/27/13 CMLL.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.
Extreme Tiger wrestles in New Jersey on 11/09.
CMLL in Arena Neza on 11/13 has Mascara/Maximo/Porky vs Niebla/Casas/Escorpion, plus a fun semimain.
Fuego en el Ring has returned to activity after taking most of the year off.
Video of Felino & Mr. Niebla vs Maximo & La Mascara from Arena Cuautepec.
Tijuana luchador Extassis is temporarily retiring due to health issues. That show is building a Zarco/King Azteca apuesta match.
Lucha Libre in Japan
AJPW announced their annual Real World Tag Team field, including Ozz & Cuervo as AAA representatives (and past champions.) The tournament runs from 11/30 to 12/08. Guerra de Titanes is said to be 12/07, which means the big focus on La Secta the last few weeks won’t pay off as far as any big matches in 2013 (unless they do them on regular TV in a change.) That’s all very odd.
Video of Super Crazy & Pesadilla vs Hajime Ohara & Genba Hirayanagi from today’s NOAH show.
Lucha Libre in Chile
Arkangel won the FULL title in Chile from former student Trox. No word on a return to Chile to defend (or maybe Trox comes here.)
Lineups
CMLL (SUN) 11/03/2013 Arena Coliseo
1) Metálico & Sensei vs Akuma & Herodes Jr.
2) Sagrado, Starman, Stigma vs Camorra, Hooligan, Nitro
3) Stuka Jr., Super Porky, Tritón vs Felino, Olímpico, Pierroth
4) Namajague & Shigeo Okumura vs Delta & Guerrero Maya Jr. [Arena Coliseo TAG]
Okumura & Namajague are champions, second defense
5) La Máscara, Máximo, Shocker vs Tama Tonga, Terrible, Volador Jr.
6) Mephisto vs Titán [MEX LH]
Mephisto’s champion, second defense.
Both title matches! This is a pretty big show for an Arena Coliseo show, and also probably one of the last few of the year if CMLL’s doing the usual holiday break from this building.
Namajague & Okumura vs Delta & Guerrero Maya was a bit disappointing the first time, but it seemed as though Namajague might have been hurt going in. He’s on form of late. Titan versus Mephisto is a second time ever – Mephisto won the match last year on Cadena3. Titan is going to have to wear his helmet and hold the Thor Hammer if he’s going to make light heavyweight.
Camorra and Stigma continue. The tercera will be hard.
RCH (SUN) 11/10/2013 Rodeo Santa Fe, Tlalnepantla, Estado de Mexico
1) Anime & Star Fire vs Crazy Star (F) & Ludark Shaitan
2) Dinamic Black & Freelance vs Comando Negro & Impulso
3) Puma King & Tiger vs ? & Eterno and Trauma I & Trauma II
4) Casandro & Villano IV vs Blue Panther & Máximo
5) Dr. Wagner Jr. & LA Park vs Atlantis & Último Guerrero
Another new location. The tercera looks a lot of fun, the semimain has a rare Casandro/Maximo encounter and the main event is the main event.
