IWRG (SUN) 10/20/2013 Arena Naucalpan [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring, The Gladiatores]
1) Alfa & Omega b Fulgor II & Látigo
Latigo replaced Fulgor.
2) Ciclón Black, Imposible, La Sádica b Dragón Celestial, Golden Magic, La Heroína
Heroina’s debut here.
3) Alan Extreme, Black Terry, Bombero Infernal b Guerrero Mixtico, Picudo Jr., Tony Rivera
Picudo Jr. was welcomed to Team Neza in a prematch interview. Karate Kid helped out the Neza team until Bombero ran him into a post and Karate Kid dislocated a shoulder. Neza team injured Black Terry (foot) in revenge. Bombero beat Tony for the win, and both hyped their hair match.
4) Trauma II b Pirata Morgan Jr. [IWRG JUNIORS]
Trauma II is champion. Seconds were Imposible & Golden Magic. Trauma took 1, Pirata 2. Pirata dove off the top rope for a splash, but Trauma II got his knees up and covered for the win. Pirata got his shoulder up at 3 but did not make a case of it post match. Second defense.
5) Cien Caras Jr., Eterno, Hijo de Máscara Año 2000 b Pirata Morgan, Relámpago, Trauma I
Pirata Morgan attacked a fan on the outside wearing a Cien Caras Jr. mask, thinking he was actually Cien Caras Jr. He was not, though Pirata still got in a more couple punches and Cien ‘accidentally’ stomped the fan a couple times for fun. Rudos took 1/3, the last by DQ when Trauma was called for fouling Cien Caras but appeared to hit him in the stomach. Pirata and Truma argued post match.
Hijo del Anibal, Tinieblas Jr., and Hijo de Mascara Sagrada defeated the Junior Capos & Veneno in the main event of an Anibal 50th anniversary tribute show on Saturday. Lots of changes to the card, which Hijo del Anibal was upset about on Tercera Caida (blaming Hijo del Santo.)
Konnan talked about the AAA US deal a bit more on this week’s MLW Radio, though only the parts he’s allowed to talk about right now. (It’s a free show, but they’d like you to consider signing up for the premium service.) The show was taped just before Heroes Inmortales.
The big news is the launch air date of the AAA US show is March 2014 (and not the El Rey launch date.) Konnan says they may start taping in December for March, and something will definitely be on the air in March. Konnan mentions it’s possible they’ll do a reality show to introduce people, since the stars in Mexico aren’t in the US and they need to be introduced. AAA’s clearly thinking about how they present themselves, down to “AAA” itself – “Do we change the name [AAA]? That’s one of the things we’re thinking about, whether we change the name or not.” I think that speaks to the depth of the thinking about everything there doing rather than definitely changing the name for the US (there are strong cases on both sides.) AAA’s planning on having casting calls, so don’t go trying to be friends with Konnan on Twitter thinking it’ll get you a job. (Be friends with Konnan anyway.)
In larger issues, Konnan believes there will be a major new investor in the company [I think he meant El Rey] announced in the next month, and a new El Rey CEO too. El Rey has some ideas about how lucha libre should look, but Konnan assures that lucha libre won’t be compromised. Konnan says he’s got “a roster in Mexico and a roster in the US and some guys from Japan” that will blow away any other promotion. (That seems to conflict with the WON story about AAA not contacting anyone yet.)
Konnan confirms Guerra de Titanes will be on 12/07 and says their will be TNA wrestlers on the show. Get excited.
AAA also comes up in a discussion about Jim Ross. Konnan really wants to know if Jim Ross is interested in broadcasting AAA, and Court Bauer (who had dinner with him the previous week) doesn’t really directly answer it – he doesn’t shoot down the possibility and is sure Jim Ross would be interested in another job.
Solar won and then lost the LLUSA championship back to RJ Brewer this weekend.
