1) Fuego, Titán, Tritón b Misterioso Jr., Puma, Sangre Azteca Titan replaced Diamante. Tecnicos took 2/3 in a disappointing match.
2) Ephesto, Tiger, Vangellys b Ángel de Oro, Máximo, Stuka Jr. Ephesto replaced Terrible. Rudos took 2/3 in an OK match.
3) Marcela b Dallys la Caribeña [CMLL WOMEN] Marcela is champion. Ninth defense. First fall ended poorly, with Dallys pinning Marcela for three, then ignoring to put on a scorpion for the submission. Marcela took the second and the third with the top rope stomp and Michinoku Driver to keep the title.
4) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente b Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero Niebla Roja wrestled the first fall in a shirt honoring his late uncle. Rudos took the first with a triple submission. Guerreros take 1/3, UG beating Mistico clean with the Guerrero Special.
5) Rey Escorpión DQ Super Porky [hair, super libre plus] Escorpion took falls 1/3 (there were falls!), the last when Maximo could no longer stand the beating his father was taking and attacked Escorpion.
CMLL honored El Brazo after the match.
6) Tama Tonga & Terrible b La Máscara & Rush Tama Tonga & Rey Bucanero were champions making their first defense, but Bucanero is hurt. La Mascara & Rush won the tag team titles by forfeit, and Terrible replaced Bucanero for a non-title match. Terrible and Tonga won, setting up the tag team title match again.
AAA’s Heroes Inmortales is listed as an 8:45 start time. There is no live video or audio, only updates via AAA’s social media account.

2) Octagón vs Blue Demon Jr., Daga, Axel [Copa Antonio Pena, semifinal] Block originally listed a mystery luchador, which was announced to be Blue Demon Jr. Cuervo distracted Faby and Mary beat her. Cuervo has a bounty on Faby’s hair.
2) Fénix b El Mesías and Monsther Clown and Silver King [Copa Antonio Pena, semifinal] Changed to first block. La Secta caused Mesias to get beat. Fenix beat Silver King for the win.
3) Hijo del Fantasma b Octagón, Daga, Axel, Pentagón Jr. [Copa Antonio Pena, semifinal] Block originally listed a mystery luchador, which was quietly listed to be Blue Demon Jr. Prior to the match, Consejo introduced their newest member – Hijo del Fantasma! He and Pentagon were added to this match, and Demon did not appear and was not mentioned. Silver King helped Fantasma the match. Fantasma beat Daga to win.
4) La Parka b Parka Negra II, Electroshock, Máscara Año 2000 Jr. [Copa Antonio Pena, semifinal] Zorro ‘returned’ to distract Parka Negra into being beat by La Parka. It’s unclear why Zorro would care about Parka Negra. 6) Angélico & Jack Evans b Crazy Boy & Joe Lider and Espíritu & Scoria and Aerostar & Drago [AAA TAG] Joe Lider & Crazy Boy are champions. Pentagon Jr. & Ultimo Gladiador were listed on the original poster, but Espiritu & Scoria are apparently in instead after winning a three way in SLP. Juvi accompanied the Mexican Powers to the ring. Mexican Powers beat Drago & Aerostar, Secta lost after Perro & Cibernetico attacked, and Angelico & Jack won when Juvi turned on Crazy & Joe Lider.
7) Texano Jr. b Psycho Clown [AAA HEAVY] Murder and Hijo del Fantasma worked as seconds. Referee issues and near falls. Texano beat Psycho with a powerbomb to keep his title. Texano’s ninth defense.
8) La Parka b Fénix, Hijo del Fantasma, Chessman [Copa Antonio Pena] Eliminations went Chessman, Fenix and Fantasma, leaving Parka as the winner. Final seemed absurdly quick on Twitter (though the show finished past 12:30am local)

UnAmericans and Masizos forged a peace after the mutual (over mutual plans to destroy Lider & Crazy.)
Taped for TVC Deportes. Guess it could be taped for Multimedios too, one never knows. I just really like the idea that the rudos bonded over their dislike for Joe Lider, my kind of super group.

Not really any notes on this show. RCH seems to still be drawing well in this arena (one of the reasons why it’s a surprise they’re not running in this arena next time.) They did much better than Furor show did this past weekend.

AAA’s Heroes Inmortales is tonight in Gimnasio Miguel Hidalgo de Puebla, a 5,000 seat arena which should easily be full for a major show. There’s three big events on the show: the Copa Antonio Pena tournament, the tag team title match, and the Psycho Clown versus Texano Jr. title match. Putting aside the middle one, it seemed like the other two events should be related – the winner of the title match probably faces the Copa Pena winner on Guerra de Titanes. That’s essentially what happened last year, when Texano Jr. won Copa Pena (even though it was thrown out 2 seconds later) and went on to face and defeat Mesias for the AAA World Title at the end of the year. Texano figured to be in the title match again – tonight’s title match is more about giving Psycho Clown getting a chance to prove himself as a single than declaring him the best one – so a tecnico woudl’ve been likely for Copa Pena. Mesias makes the best sense given who’s involved – everyone else has a title or has a feud – but Electroshock would fit the level of Texano’s challengers.
All of that made the most sense Monday. Today, it still may make sense, but it may not be the most desirable choice. Psycho Clown and his father will be super sympathetic tonight in their first matches after the death of El Brazo. They’re both very popular tecnicos to begin with, but the easiest crowd reaction ever will be giving them wins tonight. AAA does have Guerra de Titanes in less than two months, and it wouldn’t seem to disrupt any long term title plans if Psycho Clown got the title win here only to lose in back in few weeks. (That’s a bit because there doesn’t seem to be any long team title plans.) I would still bet on Texano winning the title, but I would’ve bet on Psycho Clown having no chance to win previously and think he’s got a very reasonable shot at ending up with the mega title tonight. Card order could be telling; AAA may avoid put Texano/Psycho last if it’s a sad result.
I’d still expect a tecnico – and it might as well be Mesias – to come out with the Copa Pena. Angelico & Jack Evans should be the favorites in the tag team title match based on how they’ve been showcased since TripleMania, but it’s also a situation where it doesn’t really matter who has the title because they’ll be back in a multiman match soon.
We do know a new Consejo member should debut tonight. Konnan said Consejo would have a surprise tonight, and there’s been other hints in that direction (though not really on screen.) There were lists of people who either had contacted AAA or were rumored to go to AAA that we were told in Mexico – the usual bit of names you would expect, names you would not expect, and not anything solid. The one certain thing is AAA has been working on reinforcements for Consejo and people in CMLL are interested – usual bit of low paydays and/or being left off the 80th Anniversary show and that big payday. The obvious spot for a new Consejo member is helping Texano keep the title in the main event, so they may not turn up until the end of the night. (I wonder if Consejo could use a referee?)
Over in Arena Mexico, the listed main event is the La Mascara & Rush vs Tama Tonga & Rey Bucanero tag title match, where the champions figure to keep the titles to set up a title match later on and build the Rush/Tonga feud. (Same thing with Dallys/Marcela – Marcela keeps his title and they keep going.) The real big match on the show is Brazo de Plata versus Rey Escorpion in the first Super Libre Plus rules match. The execution of the match, and the fan’s response to it, is more interesting to me than the match. Both guys have lost hair matches and will lose hair matches again, but they probably won’t be doing it while wearing MMA gloves and headgear. This is going to be weird, and it might be good.
Rey Escorpion is a rising rudo in CMLL and arguably the luchador of the year if this match turns out well. His career is on the rise, while Brazo de Plata is winding down and invincible to hair match losses. That almost always means the younger guys is winning CMLL, but there are so many other variables. Rey Escorpion’s always going to be a suspect for a surprise hair loss because of his family situation (and because he had exactly that kind of loss versus Loco Max). Brazo de Plata lost his brother days ago and not a single person is going to want to see him lose this match, but he might feel less emotional about if he had been promised a big pay day. Brazo de Plata has an old tough guy reputation, and maybe it’s even possible he wouldn’t want to sacrifice that a bit by losing a worked MMA match.
I would’ve picked Rey Escorpion, but not strongly, going into this week. Now, I’m thinking they’ve flipped to Brazo de Plata. If he was supposed to lose, he can lose again down in a few months. CMLL’ s definitely not afraid to make hard and unpopular decisions, but I don’t figure they’ll make the one to have Brazo de Plata lose.
Other News
CMLL and the Mexico Tourism department announced a new lucha libre tourist bus, which starts tonight. The bus leaves at 6 pm, takes a trip around the historic area of the city, arrives at Arena Mexico before the 8:30 pm show, and takes you back to Paseo de la Reforma (the hotel area where foreigners – like us! – often stay) after the show. Tickets are 500 pesos for adults and 300 for children.
If I recall the taxi prices right, and don’t trust me on this because I probably should still owe people money for my share, it’s still cheaper to take one of those if you’re going with 2-3 other people. (And the Metro is much cheaper.) However, if you’re going by yourself, or if you’re going and can’t communicate well with a taxi driver, this sounds a lot easier. Mexico City has other, public and private, tour buses and the article notes they’ve made money and increased foreign tourism with similar buses elsewhere in the city.
LuchaWorld completes the 2012 LuchaWorld 100! Alfredo gets a whole two months off before starting the next one.
WWE in Mexico
Rey Misterio Jr. did an interview with WWE a few days ago, talking about his knee problems and the delay his return. Misterio never said he wasn’t wrestling on the Mexico tour, but the interviewer seemed to make sure never to specifically ask that and they just talked in vague terms about his return happening down the road. Misterio was also changed to “Special Appearance” status on the WWE’s press release for his tour, which seemed to mean he would no longer be wrestling.
That was the case in Queretaro, where Rey Misterio’s appearance was limited to a save after a Sin Cara/Alberto Del Rio title match.
Rey must’ve felt okay after that appearance, because he did a lot more in Guadalajara. The bit started the same, with Sin Cara & Alberto del Rio having a title match. This time, Wade Barrett interfered, Rey Misterio made the save, and they turned into a title match. The article on the show makes it sound as if Rey did a normal house show match, including a 619 and top rope splash to win. (That’s not what is show in the video, though it may be from the run-in and not the match.) That seems a promising sign; more promising if still he’s feeling okay today. Since this tour was built around Rey returning to Mexico, I’m sure the promoters are thrilled he’s wrestling after all.
The other story is the attendance on these shows. That recap of the Guadalajara show puts the turnout at 3,000, less than half the building, and do not figure to return to that city again soon. I haven’t seen a number on the Queretaro show, just that it was also bad.
