Toryumon Mexico (SUN) 08/25/2013 Sala del Armas de Magdalena Mixhuca del Distrito Federal [Estrellas del Ring, The Gladiatores]
1) Douki b Hanaoka
2) Gato Negro, Mente Asesina, Yoruba b Infierno, Krator, Leónidas
3) Atenea, Bastet, Felina Metalica b Baby Star, Estrella Negra, Mystique
One fall.
4) Devorador, Robin Hood, Sangre Imperial b Hacha Dorada, Infierno, Piel Roja
5) Celestick I, Super Ciudadano, Zumba b Akuma, Cholo, El Patan
Super Ciudadano beat El Patan.
6) Brazo de Platino, Hijo del Fantasma, Último Dragón b Gran Guerrero, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
Ultimo Dragon beat Rey Bucanero with a Dragon suplex. Bucanero challenged Dragon to a hair vs mask match, but Dragon ignored him.
7) Último Guerrero b Atlantis [COPA NSK]
One fall. UG attacked Atlantis on the way to the ring. Ref (Maya) went down late. UG fouled Atlantis while Atlantis took UG’s mask – so Gran Guerrero ran in, took the place of his brother, and beat Atlantis. Ultimo Dragon showed up post match to challenge for an Atlantis/Dragon versus Guerreros tag match.
CMLL hasn’t done the Gran Guerrero/Ultimo Guerrero switch on their own shows as much on their own shows as I thought they would, but it’s happening on outside shows. There’s going to be a riot if they get away with on the Anniversary show.
CMLL (MON) 08/26/2013 Arena Puebla [Cinco Radio, El Popular, Poblanerias]
1) El Malayo & Guerrero Negro Jr. b Black Tiger & Robin
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Metálico, Tigre Rojo Jr. b Akrón, Hijo del Signo, King Jaguar
Tigre Rojo beat the returning King Jaguar.
3) Fuego, Sagrado, Tritón vs Namajague, Puma, Sangre Azteca
Cinco Radio Namajague suffered a severe knee injury during the match taking a dive from Sagrado, though El Popular says he was still pinned at the end of the match by Triton.
4) Diamante Azul, La Máscara, Super Porky b Kráneo, Morphosis, Psicosis
Morphosis replaced Mr. Aguila. Porky splash for the win. Porky’s plancha to the outside on Morphosis also wiped out a cameraman, who ended up with a bloody mouth.
5) Atlantis, La Sombra, Mr. Niebla DQ Rush, Terrible, Volador Jr. [Relevos Increíbles]
Team Sombra took falls 2/3. Volador and Sombra fought through the match. Rush fouled Niebla for the DQ. Niebla challenged Rush to mask vs hair, but Rush did not respond.
Cinco Radio reported Namajague suffered a “severe knee injury” , but no more details and the two other reports make no mention of it. Of the three, Cinco Radio is the best at getting the details correct, but Porra Fresa will probably have the best report in the next few days. Hoping it’s less serious than it sounds. It was just a few weeks ago when we were all very concerned about Sombra’s severe looking injury and he only missed on show and rehabbed his way thru the rest. Namajague is next scheduled on tonight’s Arena Mexico show, teaming with Tanahashi. (If that happens.)
Charly Manson was sentenced to 7 years and 4 months for his April 2011 attack on two police officers. It’s taken more than two years to get a verdict; Manson was arrested that April, released, then put back in jail in late May. Charly’s brother Electroshock had complained earlier this year about the exceptionally long period Charly’s spent in jail with no decision or sentence announced.
Assuming time served, Manson would be out of jail in September 2018 (at the age of 43) if he serves his full term. I have no idea if he actually has to serve out the full term or if early release is possible as in the US. There were rumors one of the police officers passed away due to his injuries, but there is no mention of that in any of the wire articles. Some articles mention the friend Charly was with, who was also arrested, was released.
Tonight’s CMLL show is supposed to feature the Guerreros vs Atlantis, plus the Cadetes del Espacio trying to finally get a win, but there is a concern the show might happen. There’s a teacher’s strike in front of the Televisa offices, which share parking facilities with Arena Mexico and have disrupted travel in the area. This is a repeat of something that happened last year (with a different protest group), which caused that night’s CMLL show to be canceled to avoid more people coming into the area. It appeared the government made the call to cancel events that time, and it will probably be the same deal tonight if it was to happen. Last year’s show was canceled about 9 hours before bell time; it’s about 6 hours now and there’s no mention of anything so far.
The photos suggest this is a lesser number of protesters involved in this dispute (streets were packed last time), but it’s really more about their willingness to move than their number. “CNTE” is a good search term on Twitter if you want to see what’s happening.
CMLL Tuesday shows at Arena Mexico usually low turnouts and seem significantly supplemented by foreigners as part of tour group, who will probably be quicker to cancel than the promotion. If this show happens, it still might be one of the lowest attendances of the year.
CMLL started running new promos for the 80th Anniversary main event this weekend, focusing on a big mask win for each of the four guys. Atlantis is shown beating Villano III, Ultimo Guerrero beating Villano IV, Sombra beating Felino and Volador…diving off the high platform onto Sombra from a few months ago. Volador does have a big singles wins – it’s the Copa Bicentennial win over Mistico (I) which cemented his current character and fan support – but his few mask wins came on indy shows before he had a big role in CMLL. SuperLuchas picks up on this and asks if the anniversary show might be that first big mask win.
Violento Jack has advanced to the semifinal of the Pain Limit extreme match tournament. He faces Jun Kasai, and will face the winner of Takashi Sasaki and Masashi Takeda later that night if he advances.
Marcela defends the CMLL women’s championship in Guadalajara tonight. It should be a really good match, and Marcela is likely to win.

I thought Manson was already sentenced to 15 years back in February of 2012?
They did say that on Sobre el Ring, but we couldn’t find any other person or source who could confirm it. It did sound like gossip at the time, not totally surprised it turned out false.
