Tournament show! I still hate a CMLL tournaments. The Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente vs Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr.: match was the exception. if all tournament matches were like this one, I would like tournaments. Not as long as a normal match, but still a good eight minutes for a fully developed (if faster than usual) match. Everyone looked good, rudos just got slightly beat by the técnicos in the end. A lot of people doing big moves that they’d normally try to win with but not bothering with a pin early, but otherwise no problem with this at all.
They went from that to La Sombra taking a fast and unnoteworthy clean loss, so whatever. Blue Panther, Diamante Azul, and Stuka Jr. worked the rudo sections of their match, which might have been random and might have been injury related. Guerreros/Atlantida would’ve been fun as a trios, but was more a singles. Revolucinarios vs Guerreros was really hurried.
Rush vs Shinsuke Nakamura: Didn’t seem as great as it did live, but still a lot of fun. Nakamura worked as good as the rival for both Sombra and Rush, and those are two definitely different guys. Rush did his bull headed bit well. Nakamura is a guy with big offensive moves, but he’s also really good at making other people’s offense look strong. The superkick before the end was particularly great. Nakamura had a pretty good run this time.

Glad to see Mistico is starting to build more muscle, and gain some weight( but not much). It’s a start. My problem with Mistico,at least in this match, is that he oversells with some simple moves. He shouldn’t laying on the mat for almost a minute after a Volador chop. Rush, Corleone,or even Negro Casas, yeah…I’d believe it. Yeah,he’s a skinny kid,but don’t have him in the Main event matches if he’s going to go down so easy. But I know that’s a management thing. Fine match though. I still like Psycosis,I just wish they’d do more with him. But I think if they do that,it means he’ll be losing his mask soon. I wish someone would bring back that old school Lucha bit for Valiente, where they make fun of their small size, and they pretend to kick them like a football, then the small guy proceeds to humiliate the bigger guy. Love that bit..haha Super Astro and Kung Fu did it great.
