It would figure that the American Wolves and the Mexican Powers are going to win until they face each other. Attendance does not look great.
IWRG (THU) 07/04/2013 Arena Naucalpan [IWRG, The Gladiatores]
1) Fulgore II b Seiya
2) Astro Rey Jr. & Sky Ángel b Alan Extreme & Fulgor
Astro pinned Fulgor I
3) Canis Lupus, Cerebro Negro, Imposible b Centvrión, Golden Magic, Saruman
4) Apolo Estrada Jr., el Ángel, Heddi Karaoui DQ Pantera, Trauma I, Trauma II
Rudos took 1/3. Heddi faked a foul from Pantera to draw the DQ.
5) Eterno, Súper Nova, X-Fly b Dinamic Black, Dr. Cerebro, Toscano
Rudos took 1/3, X-Fly getting in a foul on Dr. Cerebro. Super Nova challenged Dinamic Black to a title match and stole his mask.
Super Nova has been around IWRG for a while now, so it doesn’t seem like he’s heading out to Europe any time. Perhaps he’s the mystery Consejo guy on Sunday on the AAA TV taping?
Week 2 En Busca de un Idolo poll totals
40 Stuka Jr.
39 Vangellys
39 Fuego
29 Stuka Jr.
Those are, uh, surprising numbers. Vangellys poll numbers went up 34 points in one week. Whatever. Totals thru round 2.
174 Valiente
161 Vangellys
136 Stuka Jr.
124 Fuego
If Stuka beats Fuego and Vangellys losses to Valiente, then Stuka might be advancing. If Stuka & Vangellys win, then it’s still in play based on the poll (and I guess Valiente is no sure bet.)
Besides the final second round En Busca de un Idolo matches, tonight’s Arena Mexico show also has a cibernetico preview of the upcoming Infierno en el Ring cage match. The main event is Atlantis, Mistico and Titan vs Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja, and Ultimo Guerrero, where the Guerrero switch might make it’s debut in Arena Mexico.
The return of SuperLuchas should’ve been in the top 6 stories post. I’ve seen the magazine, and it’s the same quality as it was before the hiatus. They’ve switched to 30 pages an issue (up 6), but also have gone down to one issue every two weeks.
A recap of the CMLL press conference says the winner of En Busca de un Idolo gets to be in future Arena Mexico main events. Also, Vangelis declared himself winner of the competition because he already beat Stuka & Fuego twice and Valiente once. Valiente disagreed. Also, the disagreement between Rush & Shocker was not over who was in charge, but Shocker firing Rush while Rush declaring he quit first. Another recap highlights Atlantis calling Blue Panther the best luchador to ever fight in Arena Mexico.
The local lucha libre commission warned fans to not attended an unlicensed show in Merida this Saturday. The same article mentions the FusionSports show last weekend also drew a fine for being unlicensed.
Rob has highlights of 11/30/12 CMLL.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update, including a translation of Santo’s statement on his injury.

Lucha Libre in Japan
07/05 NJPW:
4) Shinsuke Nakamura, Masato Tanaka [O], Yujiro Takahashi b Tomoaki Homna [X], La Sombra, Tetsuya Naito
Sombra looked good and had both title belts (IWGP IC, NWA MIDDLE.) His feud with Nakamura was pushed strongly.
6) Jushin Liger & Hiroshi Tanahashi [O] b Terrible [X] & Tama Tonga [CMLL TAG]
Another good match. Disappointing outcome – Terrible went a long way with Tanahashi before being beat in the end – but it’s going from one team that’s based in Japan to another team that’s based in Japan. I presume this means Tanahashi & Lyger are coming to Mexico in September for the Universal tournament and a title change, but there’s no urgency. Fans in the building were really happy about the title match. Terrible shook the hands of the new champions after the match, which Tama did not seem happy about. He also was not out with the Bullet Club at the end of the show. May be a long tour for the TRT leader.
ALso, no CMLL luchadors in the G1. It’d be cool for CMLL guys to do well in a tournament, but it’s much preferable to have Rush/Terrible/Sombra around Mexico instead of gone for three weeks. This is not a good year to just send a guy over for experience. It’s a bad sign for Sombra’s chances of keeping the IWGP IC title.
