IWRG never posted the results to this show and TV missed two matches. There were a decent amount of people at the show despite Triplemania, though apparently not anyone who could write down the results for their website.

I think they might turned up in Luchas 2000, because IWRG posted interviews from that magazine with the guys in the main event, and they appear to be setting up a Prison Fatal with those four.

It looks like I screwed up the tercera video. I’m working on fixing it.

Thunder replaced Titan (moved to GDL). UG fouled Thunder to cause a straight fall loss.

Title match sounds like it was great.  Please don’t air the opener. I guess I could just not watch. And Camaleon is fine. But still.

FILL vs Gym (Tony) Rivera, with Star Boy coaching Rivera’s team. Listed Copa Higher Power 28. Karate Kid was first out, having been attacked by three IWRG wrestlers and eventually taken to the infirmary. Match came down to Alan & Impossible vs Star Boy Jr., with Star Boy Sr. helping to cheat and beat Alan Extreme. Imposible then crushed Star Boy with a big move to get the win to team FILL.

A surprising turn of events took place around the Mistico Negro poster that was circulated around last week. A Mistico Negro was listed as headlining a show in Monclova this Sunday. It’s a show with AAA talent. It wasn’t a show promoted by AAA and the Mistico Negro is a local luchador not employed by AAA, but you would not understand that if you just saw the poster. Last night, Dorian Roldan announced AAA does not approve of this sort of character stealing and are pulling their luchadors from the show. It’s a classy move, and also one with that fits with AAA’s stated belief about character ownership rights.

The Tercera Caida two hours of midweek lucha air tonight. AAA Fusion airs at 8pm CT, follow by Tercera Caida. Tercera Caida will have the Eita vs Ricky Marvin vs the Hornet match from this past weekend in Veracruz. I have no idea what will air on AAA Fusion, but they might as well air TripleMania at this point.

DJ Spectro looks back at Solar II vs Crucero I mask match (full results of a 1983 card!), El Solitario vs Bestia Negra mask vs mask (from 1978 – the top 10 luchador of all time versus a current CMLL referee, wonder who won), Gran Markus vs Anibal mask vs mask,  a look back at Cobarde, and a show honoring idea man Valente Perez.   1. Perro Aguayo Jr. took Cibernetico’s hair in the main event of TripleMania XXI. The match was the expected mix of blood, weapon usage and controversy. Texano kept the AAA heavyweight title over Heavy Metal and was challenged for the next shot by the retired Ray Mendoza Jr. Mendoza’s brother Villano IV continued his feud with La Parka, though his team of Lucha Libre Legends lost to the team of AAA Legends. The Mexican Powers & Blue Demon Jr. picked up the vacant Tag Team and Latin American titles respectively. Former tag team champion Vampiro appeared to award those titles and restart his feud with Konnan, while LA Park also surprisingly appeared to had Demon his title. Park doesn’t appear to be back, at least yet. Jeff Jarrett let a combined TNA/WWL team over the Psycho Circus in easily the worst match on the show. The show lacked a standout great match similar to previous years, and appeared to be a much better live experience than it came across on video. The crowd especially sounded quiet and distant on TV, when it seemed clear they were making a good amount of noise.
  2. Three more CMLL titles changed hands in a short time. Los Estetas del Aire (Mascara Dorada, Valiente and Mistico) won a tournament for the vacant CMLL Trios championship, Diamante Azul ended Rey Bucanero’s long but injury ridden NWA Light Heavyweight Championship reign and Zeuxis won the REINA International Junior Women’s championship from Silueta, which has mostly been defended in CMLL. The first two seem designed to increase attention on the younger tecnicos, while the last one was less clear.
  3. TripleMania XXI was marred by a complete failure of it’s scheudled iPPV. Not a second of the show aired as scheduled and customers were left hanging for hours with little information about the show’s status. AAA waited until after the four hour show to announce it would make good by putting the show on their YouTube channel for free and offering refunds to all who bought the show. AAA also shifted the blame completely to the uStream providers, while acknowledging uStream was blaming AAA. The entire experience was frustrating for all involved. TripleMania’s normal TV PPV, announced as for sale only a couple days before the show took place, aired mostly without problem.
  4. Valiente, Stuka Jr., Vangelis and Fuego are the four finalsts in CMLL’s En Busca de un Idolo tournament. Like last year, it’s one rudo and three tecnicos, though with a slight surprise about Hijo del Fantasma being the one tecnico not to advance. Valiente and Stuka are the favorites to advance to the final. It’s unclear if anyone is actually paying any attention to this show.
  5. AAA taped post-TripleMania TV shows two days prior to the major event. They mostly continued existing feuds: the indepedent legend outsiders will still be feuding with the AAA luchadors, and feuds like Atomic Boy & Gran Apache continue. A strange injury angle with Heavy Metal also took place; he was not cleared to wrestle on this show, but apparently (relatively) fine on TripleMania two days later. It’s possible there was a backstage skit explaining this on the taping, but nothing like that was explained. The AAA brand split, previously announcing as starting the day after TripleMania, was not implemented in any obvious way.
  6. Ultimo Dragon’s annual DragonMania show took place last Saturday. The crowd was estimated at 12,000, though the tickets for the show are usually given away. The actual real main event of the show was Ultimo Dragon, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., and Atlantis defeated Ultimo Guerrero, Hajime Ohara, and TNA’s Mike Knox. Los Celestik’s lost their masks in the undercard.
  • CMLL announced it would start renting out their edecnaes, now known as “Chicas Vuelta, Vuelta” for corporate and private events.
  • Vampiro announced he had signed a five year contract with AAA.
  • NJPW’s BUSHI debuted in CMLL as BUSHIROAD, working on tecnico side unlike his countrymen.
  • Trauma II won the IWRG Juniors championship, while the Piratas kept the trios show. Perhaps the most amazing news is IWRG drew about normal this past Sunday, despite running straight against the TripleMania show.
  • El Hippie took Exterminador’s hair in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara, part of their usual long run of Anniversary shows.

Comedy match. Otoko wrestles in a thong. His partners turned on him after the match, with the Brazos making the save.
8) Atlantis, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Último Dragón b Mike Knox, Ohara, Último Guerrero
Mike Knox is from TNA, replacing SUWA. Ohara & Dragon feuded. Tecnicos took 2/3, Ohara DQed for pulling Dragon’s mask in the second and Dragon beat him in the third.

 

Ultimo Dragon usually teases a mask match with Ultimo Guerrero on these shows. Ultimo Dragon did not tease a mask match with Ultimo Guerrero, or at least it was downplayed enough not to be mentioned. Ultimo Guerrero has a mask match with Atlantis before the next DragonMania. Make of all that what you will.

Mike Knox is a wrestler from TNA who appeared on this show, was not treated like a big deal, did not get a win to build up to a return match that’s not happening. The day later, TripleMania. Definitely different thought processes going on.

Celestiks came out of nowhere, won the Toryumon tag team tournament last year, lost their masks this year. I’m sure there’s a good story here (and that maybe they’re just not the Celestiks), but I have no idea what the story is.

Building looks very full. Violento Jack posted his backstage pass, which looks nice.

Cinco Radio had the wrong main event finish last night. It happens and they’re still setting up a rematch either way.

If you purchased the TripleMania iPPV, you should have received an email this afternoon stating refunds are being processed for the show. The email says you should expect to have your money back in 48 hours. This is all from uStream; I suspect part of the reason AAA is being clear on blaming uStream for the problem is they’ll also be looking for a refund for whatever it cost to bring a uStream tech to their show to broadcast it. I hope they get it, if it’s theirs to get.

AAA did upload TripleMania in four parts on their YouTube channel. It took a lot longer than AAA were expecting; the first part of the show didn’t go up until very late in the evening, and the following parts went live very early Tuesday. They did post a video apologizing for the lateness. It sounds like file size is an issue, which is why they ended up breaking it in parts and probably why it’s in Standard Definition.  I wonder if AAA also might have run into music rights issues with YouTube as well; everyone runs into those. AAA’s internet staff was working from Saturday until the time those videos got up this morning and could use a long nap.

CMLL has a show today that’s not available on a stream in any fashion. So weird. Mascara Dorada vs Averno is the main event, where Dorada’s newly won NWA Welterweight Championship is on the line (but not Averno’s national welterweight title.) Dorada should win, but it more should be an outstanding match. Main event is a sort of rematch from Sunday’s trios title match, with Titan in for Dorada and Gran Guerrero in for Niebla Roja. Over in Guadalajara, Bam Bam and Mercurio have a hair match where I don’t really have an idea who’s going to win, but my hunch is Mercurio. IWRG has a FILL trainee show in Naucalpan, and IWL is running in Arena Aficion.

Okumura declared Bushiroad a traitor – “he betrayed his people, he betrayed his country, and he betrayed his flag.” Okumura says he’s not at all focused on his upcoming lightning match with Hombre Bala because he and the rest of the Fiebre Amarilla are so upset with Bushiroad siding with the Mexicans. Okumura demands an apology, and warns another NJPW luchador will soon be on the way to actually work with the rudos.

A report on Friday’s AAA spot show in Queretaro mentions how Juvi worked the rudo side.  It seems like the usual alternate reality of AAA spots shows – they don’t match up with TV, they just figure out who’s assigned to the show and divvy up sides. This time, however, Juvi explained he was on the rudo side because AAA hasn’t supported him while he’s been injured. Juvi’s been missing from AAA TV shows since Rey de Reyes and an injury would explain it. Andy Wu, one of two AJPW trainees sent to Mexico months ago to train with Pantera who were never mentioned again, is listed as working in the segunda. I’d assumed they long ago went back home.

Fenix, Faby Apache and Mary Apache will appear on DTU 07/05 Arena Queretaro. They’re also promising two extreme matches on every show of the three show tour.

IWRG hasn’t updated with Sunday results. I’ll put together what I have from the TV show tomorrow. Probably.

Black Metal & Barbaro Cavernario from Guadalajara make their DF debut. Metal was paired up with Triton (Metal Blanco = White Metal) and Titan at times when they were all wrestling in GDL and had been mentioned as the next guy to make the jump. It’s taken a while longer. Barbaro has been the frequently victorious young rudo in the building. Perhaps this is foreshadowing to a new Generaction 2013 class?

Aguila and Rush might have a side feud beyond the hair match feud. They should be back in Arena Mexico in two weeks.

Tercera looks great. Semimain is a match that’s been happening a lot suddenly, with Azul in for Valiente. I guess they’re not totally different, they both do monkey flips at times.

Next week appears to be the big Anniversary show with the mask match, but the cibernetico should mean something.

There’s an AULL Samael. This is probably not that guy. Joker is another new name. Acertijo is Riddler, so that’s a kind of Batman villains team.

A lot of these same luchadors will be working another show in Guadalajara the same today, to honor Americo Rocca. The semimain has Los Xaviers (Valaguez, Cruz, Rocca) teaming up one more time with son Javier Cruz Jr.
