CMLL (MON) 06/03/2013 Arena Puebla [@cincoradio, El Popular (cover)]
1) Ares & El Malayo b Asturiano & Black Tiger
2) Metálico, Sensei, Starman DQ Hijo del Signo, Hooligan, Nitro
Signo fouled Metalico for the DQ.
3) Misterioso Jr., Puma, Sangre Azteca b Diamante, Fuego, Rey Cometa
Rudos took 1/3, Misterioso beating Cometa. Fuego is mentioned by two different sources as working this show.
4) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky b Negro Casas, Rey Bucanero, Terrible
5) Atlantis, La Máscara, Rush b Gran Guerrero, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr.
Tecnicos took 2/3, Atlantis beating Ultimo Guerrero. This sets up a singles match next week.
A surprisingly lack of Diamante Azul vs Rey Bucanero here if they’re really doing a mask vs hair match soon. Maybe Atlantis/UG has replaced them as the match?
We’ve been told AAA has TripleMania coming up soon, and that the show will be available on PPV, iPPV and in theatres. That show is 12 days away, and there’s still zero details about this at all. The PPV part is at least not in AAA’s control – that’s Sky Mexico’s part, and they’ve tended to announce these things rather late. Maybe the other announcements are tied to that one, but that’s not really a good deal for something unusual like this. AAA has been pushing the tickets for live show hard (and perhaps that’s another reason there’s no more news about PPV), but they need to push the PPV options just as hard if they expect anyone to buy it. It’s 12 days away, and no one knows how much the show will cost, when the broadcast will start, who will be able to receive the broadcast (country restrictions?), or on what devices the show will be available. I know more about what the show won’t be happening than will be happening with the iPPV – it won’t be US iPPV carriers Highspots or WWLive running the show as best as I know, and GoFightLive (which handled the IWL iPPVs) also does not list TripleMania.
I would not expect the same out of an iPPV as a normal PPV – they should be the same, but anyone who watches the free CMLL Terra show knows that’s not the case – but people obviously want to know they’re going to get a decent chance at getting the show they ordered before handing over their money. The longer they wait to say anything – again, all we’ve seen is a along the lines of one sentence in press release – the less people are going to be trust AAA has this all worked out.
Perros del Mal’s 5th anniversary show, scheduled for June 9th, has been postponed due to the death of Hector Garza. Hector Garza passed away on May 26th, and the show would’ve been two weeks later. The show had been announced before Garza’s death, and the promotion had previously said the show would now honor Garza. Also in the interim, AAA ran a TV taping four days after Hector Garza’s death. That show included a main event with the same guys who would have worked the Perros del Mal show, in front of a full house. Perro’s continued to work his scheduled matches. Everyone who knew Hector Garza is still hurt by losing him and will forever be hurt. At the same time, it’s hard to believe this show honestly went from going on to honor Hector to being canceled to honor Hector five days before the show. It reads much more like a situation where the promotion needed to get out of running this show, and distastefully used Hector’s passing as their excuse. It is professionally wrestling, and so this does not break new ground. At least it’s a real situation and not an imaginary one.
A fair bit of shuffling on CMLL’s lineups on Tuesday and Friday:
- Fuego is out of Tuesday’s segunda, with Rey Cometa stepping in. This follows Fuego being taken to the hospital after Friday’s match. There’s no news about the injury itself, but Fuego’s been dealing with a shoulder injury going back to last year. Again, his next En Busca de un Idolo match is next Tuesday; it’s unclear what CMLL will do if he’s out of the tournament, but his standing means they’d probably only need to fill in for that one match
- Maximo replaces Thunder today in Arena Coliseo Guadalajara.
- The top 2 matches on Friday have been switched around. The Atlantis/UG feud has been dropped to the semimain, with Terrible and Mascara Dorada moving to the top. The new main event is La Sombra, Mistico, Mascara Dorada vs Volador, Terrible and Euforia, which should be great. If they’re running a cage match next Friday, then that match could set up the semimain event.
- Demus is still listed as working Friday’s show, but will be replaced by Pequeno Violencia because Demus is out with a knee injury. The CMLL Gaceta story says 1 month, then quotes Demus as saying 8 weeks. Every month being eight weeks would explain why Mexico feels behind the times. Anyway, the story stirs up a Demus/Electrico feud out of it.
The Japanese story from months ago about Nieto del Santo heading to Japan to train with NOAH just got reported today in Mexican outlets. I would guess this is a TxT or Santo press release (author listed as Redacción!), because I can’t find anything on NOAH’s site about it.
Rob has highlights of 10/20/07 AAA & 10/18/07 AAA.
Bill has highlights of TxT 04/27/13.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.
Lucha Libre in Japan
06/04 NJPW: Prince Devitt b Titan [BOSJ] – Devitt’s friends got involved.
Titan is now 2-5. His final match is Thursday morning versus Rocky Romero, and a Titan win would deny Romero from having a chance to advance.

Lineups
IWRG (SUN) 06/09/2013 Arena Naucalpan
1) Acero (IWRG) & Sky Ángel vs Epidemia & Fulgor I
2) Centvrión & Saruman vs Alan Extreme & Picudo Jr.
3) Chico Che, Dinamic Black, Golden Magic vs Apolo Estrada, Cerebro Negro, Eterno
4) Dr. Cerebro, Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Trauma I vs Hijo de Máscara Año 2000, Súper Nova, X-Fly
5) Carta Brava Jr. vs Trauma I [IWRG JUNIORS]
First defense for Carta.
I feel like the main event is a title change, but mostly because I figure Carta (and Eterno) should be working more with AAA going forward, which means less time with IWRG, which means other people hold IWRG championships. That’s how promotions elsewhere might think, but I may be wrong in applying that to IWRG.
Semimain continues the Pirata/Mascara build up; both title matches were teased for this week, but only one could happen. Second and tercera could be fun.
No one watching other promotions (and commissions not actually licensing people) is how two Aceros happen.
I wonder what this card will be like next week.
WWL (SUN) 07/07/2013 Arena Coliseo Monterrey [mediotiempo]

6) Ivelisse Vélez vs Taya Valkyrie
7) Blue Demon Jr. vs Big Daddy V [PWR HEAVY]
Demon is champion
8) Mil Mascaras & Sicodélico Jr. vs Villano III & Villano IV
Mil Mascaras working a semimain!
9) Monster Pain vs Bobby Lashley [WWL HEAVY]
Monster Pain is champion
A REAL SHOW. Probably an iPPV show too, though likely with a new provider. I really have no idea how IWL and WWL haven’t joined forces yet, they are made for each other.
The fifth match should be good. The tag match might be okay, ask me after TripleMania. The opener could be good (though each of those guys would be better with other people – though you get that match just about every weekend somewhere.) The rest of this show…I have no high hopes for the rest of this show. Don’t get me wrong, I will be buying this show to support the Laredo Kid and fuel sarcastic remarks on Twitter, but I would not advise you to do the same.
