CMLL (FRI) 05/31/2013 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Yahoo! Deportes]
1) Espanto Jr. & Guerrero Negro Jr. b Soberano Jr. & Stigma
2) Lluvia, Marcela, Silueta b Amapola, La Seductora, Tiffany
Lluvia’s return. She and the tecnicas took 1/3 to win.
3) Blue Panther, Shocker, Super Porky DQ Averno, Mr. Águila, Rey Escorpión
Shocker’s Arena Mexico return. Straight falls for the tecnicos when Escorpion fouled Porky. Shocker challenged Mr. Aguila to a hair match, which led to everyone challenging everyone again.
4) Misterioso Jr. b Stuka Jr. [En Busca de un Idolo]
Shocker replaced Ultimo Guerrero (wrestling in Tijuana.) Misterioso brought out yoghurt for all the judges (extra large for Porky, extra small for Tirantes.) They did not appreciate the gift. Stuka dominated the match but lost via Gori Driver. Judges still didn’t like Misterioso, scording him a 6, 5, 1,2 for 14. They were more favorable to Stuka despite the loss, scoring a 8, 7, 7, 6 for a 28.
5) Fuego COR Sangre Azteca [En Busca de un Idolo]
Long mat wrestling section to start turned the crowd against the match, plus they were stretching it out to make it close to a time limit draw. Fuego toped Sangre Azteca over the barricade, then crawled back in to beat the count. The match ended at 9:53. Judges were down on both guys for losing the crowd early. Fuego scored a 5, 4, 4, 2 for a 15, then was taken to the hospital for an unspecific injury. Sangre scored a 4, 3, 3, 8 (Tirantes highest score!) for a 18. Sangre and Shocker had harsh words.
6) Máscara Dorada, Mistico, Valiente b Ephesto, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
Said to be a great match. Valiente beat Volador.
7) La Sombra b Shinsuke Nakamura [IWGP IC]
Seconds were Mistico & Namajague (Okumura & Mima along with for the enterance.) Nakamura took fall one, Sombra tied it up in the second fall, then completed the upset and championship win by taking fall 3. Nakamura falls on his ninth defense. Sombra is 4th champion.
Great win for Sombra. Crowd exploded for the win, seemed surprised and thrilled. I don’t know where this goes from here, but it’s pretty cool right now. Way back in January, Sombra went to magazines and said his goal in 2013 was to win an IWRP title. He’s got 7 more months to take care of some other goals. NJPW’s next major show is June 22nd, where they might call Sombra to defend this title. If he holds onto it, and maybe even if he doesn’t, Sombra’s now likely to be back in August’s G1 tournament.
The Sombra/Nakamura match (and the semimain) sounds like it was great. RadioCMLL was having a lot of issues, but it appeared Nakamura/Sombra and the hair match trios will be on Galavision next weekend, while the women and the semimain will go to Fox Sports.
Mephisto was dressed up like Jason from Friday the 13th for no particular reason. Valiente’s trio had fused masks which look great.
There’s no word about the nature or severity of Fuego’s injury. He’s listed in matches on Monday in Puebla and Tuesday in Arena Mexico, but his next tournament match isn’t until the following Tuesday (06/11), the last day of the tournament. I’m not sure what they would do to replace him. Given his scores here and his poll support so far, it probably would be just a matter of finding someone else to face Misterioso for one night and that also might not matter much.
Black Terry Jr. has photos from the Los Exoticos film premiere.
Silueta talks about her upcoming title defense.
Marcela is headed to Veracruz for two matches on 06/22.
The next Torneo Amigo de Siempre is today.
Porra Fresa previews Monday’s card.

Valiente vs Vaneglis will probably be for first overall place after the first group.
Okumura seems demoted – but it’s probably more keeping him out of the hair mix since he has so little hair. Thunder in the tercera makes me miss Marco – and Marco’s probably missing out on this cage match or whatever is, since he would’ve fit right in. As it stands, the lineup is Aguila, Shocker, Panther, Averno, Porky, Escorpion, Rush, Negro Casas, Maximo and one more rudo TBD? Felino and Terrible would be candidates but aren’t in that match. Maybe someone remembered Negro’s supposed to be part of the En Busca de un Idolo match next week and he’s been pulled from the cage?
And if that cage match is happening on 06/14, not only should it be announced next week, but there seems like a need for a strong semimain event. There’s nothing else specifically set up; maybe just a rematch of this main event?
