Hijo del Fantasma vs Tiger in a lightning match: the amusingly perfect finish to book between the guy who can’t win without a ramp to do his move and the guy who can’t win anywhere. A quality good match between two guys who are stuck in their spots and never get to do anything – not for a second do I believe they’re doing a three falls match here, and there’s no other actual reason to do a draw exception as a hilarious commentary on how both these guys are running in place. I’m not sure the timekeeper screwed up as much as the casita was supposed to be the last move (but even then, normal time limit draw procedure has the time running out right before the three, and Tiger talking about almost winning makes a lot more sense if he was almost going to win – let’s just say there was room to improve.
Blue Panther, La Sombra, Super Porky vs Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Olímpico: good telling the story that needs to be told, and that story is “Sombra is the best and he’s going to clean house on this goofball next week.” It’s not even wild bias to get to that, it’s Sombra clearing house on the inept rudos early, then attacking every time the rudos screwed around. Much more focused. I didn’t pick up on the Panther/Averno fighting to set up next week,
Diamante Azul, Mistico, Valiente vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Volador Jr.: Interesting to hear a crowd slightly cheer Místico use the La Mistica to win on this show, which I’m pretty sure that same crowd loudly booed the same move when it aired on Terra. It, and the finish, is just another bit of CMLL trying to force something to work without letting the crowd take it to themselves. It is possible to force things people and get them to like it, but it’s not working the way they’re doing it. Místico himself was good in the stuff they showed here.
