AR Fox defeats Flamita, Luchas 2000, Puebla, Daga, Invasors vs tecnicos

DTU (SUN) 03/31/2013 Arena del Sur, Mexico City [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Deportivo, R de Rudo]
1) Black Fury b Arumi and Keira
No Paloma Rouse, scheduled to be Black Fury’s partner. This was a three way instead.
2) Gemelo De Chilpancingo I & Gemelo De Chilpancingo II b Hell Boy & Jhonky
3) Pesadilla b Nino Hamburguesa, Slayer Pack, Hacker, Principe Halcon, ?
A combination of two announced four way matches. Full participant list is unknown. Pesadilla pinned Nino for the win.
4) Solar I b Paranoiko
Solar style match, winning with a campana. Money thrown in.
5) Aeroboy & Violento Jack b Lucky Boy & Niño de Ébano and Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo
Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo added to the match, and there was a stretch where Aeroboy & Violento Jack took a break and let the other two teams have their match. Ebano hurt his left arm on a dive, continued the match, and lost to Aero & Violento. Those two kept attacking Lucky & Ebano after the match, and Willie Mack made the save.
6) Crazy Boy & Juventud Guerrera b Tribal & Willie Mack
Lanzeloth & Rocky Lobo added to the match, and there was a stretch where Aeroboy & Violento Jack took a break and let the other two teams have their match. Ebano hurt his left arm on a dive, continued the match, and lost to Aero & Violento. Those two kept attacking Lucky & Ebano after the match, and Willie Mack made the save.
7) AR Fox b Flamita [CZW TV]
Flamita and AR Fox taken out of the scheduled three way main event to do their title match. AR Fox kept the title

Haven’t seen any results from the Tulancingo show, but it’s alluded to as having happened.

Black Terry Jr., who’s selling the main event, says it was one of the 10 best he’s seen all year. We need to convince him to do a top 10 at the end of the year, it’d be great.

Tribal unmasked as Jinzo in post match show ending celebration. Turnout looks very bad in some sides of the ring and decent in others.

DTU is back in action on 04/13 and 04/14, while Super X appears to have a show on 04/30 – and TxT’s next show is on 04/27 – according to Black Terry’s tour schedule. I’ve got a bunch of tickets for things the last few days and thought I was busy, but not so much after looking at that schedule.

Luchas 2000 (SAT) 03/30/2013 Arena Lopez Mateos [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), Estrellas del Ring]
1) Steve Paint b Fulgore
2) Centvrión & Chico Che b Alan Extreme & Joker
Joker replaced Imposible.
3) Carta Brava Jr. (IWRG), Comando Negro, Suicida b Dinamic Black, Freelance, Golden Magic
4) Decnnis & Hijo de Pirata Morgan b Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. & Oriental
5) Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000, Universo 2000 b Jaque Mate, Sangre Chicana, Satánico
Dinamitas used fouled to win.
6) Atlantis, Blue Panther, Brazo de Oro, Negro Casas b El Fantasma, Shu el Guerrero, Solar I, Villano III
7) Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Scorpio Jr., Villano IV b Brazo de Plata, Felino, Mr. Niebla, Shocker
8) Atlantis b Villano IV [Copa Luchas 2000]
After the match, V4 suggested a mask match between himself and Atlantis should he get past Ultimo Guerrero.

I think the two atomicos were elimination matches, but it’s not especially clear. It also doesn’t matter much. I’ve never heard of a Steve Paint before; there’s a Steve Pain who worked in California, but Estrellas del Ring has photos of that show and another Senor Paint worked and I don’t see a white guy anywhere. Arena Lopez Mateos looks like a medium filled show with something like the lineup used for the Villano V retirement show. The retirement show had that mask/hair tournament, but I’m doubtful that a random mask or hair meant anything in 2013.  It didn’t seem for that show.

On that note: A column (I think in Luchas 2000, and I think following up suggests Villano IV should be added to the Atlantis vs Ultimo Guerrero match. If you sincerely believe this, you are insane. There’s a bizarre retelling of history going on where Villano IV is/was a big star (absolutely not true) and Villano IV has big issues with these two men (pointing at each other are after one of his brother’s losses is not a big issue.) If someone wants to promote Villano IV vs Atlantis or Villano IV vs Ultimo Guerrero separately, those would be perfectly fine matches and would easily sell out a 4,000 seat arena. The casual fans, the one that make the difference between 6,000 and 16,000, would see it as a joke not show up, and the entire match wouldn’t be better for being split up into three matches segments in eight minutes or a 3 at once fight.

This is not a a Villano IV issue, it’s an issue of changing what you’ve promised to do at all. A four way relevos suicidas would’ve been a great idea at one point, the Villano IV could’ve worked at one point, but they’ve promoted a specific match and changing that match breaks that trust between the fans and the promotion. Just because other (and these) people have been stupid enough to do it before doesn’t mean it’s okay when you do it. If CMLL does anything but a straight Atlantis vs Ultimo Guerrero mask match at the Anniversary show, they’re not adding to the match, they’re shooting themselves in the foot. And the fans shouldn’t stand up for such things.

CMLL (MON) 04/01/2013 Arena Puebla [El Popular]
1) King Jaguar & Siki Ozama Jr. b Black Tiger & Tigre Rojo
Tiger Rojo’s first match here since May (assuming it’s not actually Tigre Rojo Jr.)
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Stukita b Demus 3:16, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
Electrico’s return from a broken leg in August.
3) Hooligan, Nitro, Skándalo b Fuego, Starman, Stigma
Skandalo Driver on Fuego.
4) Namajague b Stuka Jr. [lightning]
Namajague used a distraction and a foul to beat Stuka.
5) Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero b Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush
Straight falls by the Guerreros to set up a title match next week.
6) Atlantis & Volador Jr. b Rey Bucanero & Shocker [Torneo Increible de Parejas]
Atlantis & Volador rallied to take falls 2/3 to get the win. Rey Bucanero blamed Shocker for the loss, and demanded a hair vs hair match in Arena Puebla.

Namajague mentioned on Facebook that the bus back from Puebla broke down, and he didn’t get home until 4:30AM. A long day.

Daga kept the AAA Cruierweight championship over Super Fly, Pentagon and Fenix on Sunday in Arena Solidardad. Norteno Sr. lost his hair to Harry el Sucio in the cage main event.

CMLL Gaceta previews today’s Arena Mexico show as a battle between the Invasors and the hometeam. I don’t expect the random team of Shocker, Angel de Oro and Valiente to beat Mr. Aguila, Psicosis and Kraneo for the national trios championship, but it sounds like it could be a fun match and should further the Aguila/Shocker issue.

Atomic Boy wants Gran Apache’s hair, so he’ll learn to finally stop picking on the younger luchadors. Needs a video package with Oscar Sevilla and Billy Boy. Both are even rudos now, they can stick up for Gran Apache

Bill has highlights of the 02/21/12 IWRG vs FILL show.

Rob has highlights of the 11/18/12 AAA Fusion show.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Lucha Libre in Japan

Dark Angel faces Act Yasukawa for the vacant Wonder of Stardom Championship on 04/29. The former champion is retiring on that show.

This is not new news, but it occurred to me that the scheduled dates for CMLL’s En Busca de un Idolo (05/07 to 06/21?) overlaps NJPW’s Best of Super Juniors (05/22 to 06/09), which means the slight chance a Guerrero Maya Jr. or a Valiente or a Rey Cometa might be in the NJPW tournament is no chance. It’s not such a big leap given Angel de Oro was in the tournament last year (and Valiente headed over next week), but I am fine with those guys being in the tournament I get to see. I think Mistico is still the most likely guy to go over to Japan for that, and I am also fine with him being in the tournament I don’t have to watch.

Lineups

CMLL (SUN) 04/07/2013 Arena Coliseo
***Arena Coliseo 70th Anniversary Show***
1) Metatrón & Soberano Jr. vs Espanto Jr. & Guerrero Negro Jr.
Oro Jr. was announced at the initial press conference, but changed to Metatron on the week of the event.
2) Hombre Bala Jr., Metálico, Super Halcón Jr. vs Hijo del Signo, Nosferatu, Taurus
3) Marcela vs Estrellita, Goya Kong, Dalis la Caribeña, Silueta, Amapola, Princesa Sugheit, Princesa Blanca, Zeuxis, Tiffany [cibernetico, Trofeo Arena Coliseo 70 Aniversario]
4) Black Terry, Negro Navarro, Villano IV vs Averno, Blue Panther, Shocker
CMLL vs independents
5) Máscara Año 2000, Ray Mendoza Jr., Universo 2000 vs Atlantis, Diamante Azul, Rayo de Jalisco Jr.
CMLL vs independents
6) Dragón Rojo Jr. vs La Sombra [CMLL MIDDLE]
Dragon Rojo is attempting his seventh defense, third versus Sombra.

I expect Rojo to retain, but Sombra has a chance.

It is still peculiar to see Villano IV after just working an AAA show. It suggests the people who may have an issue with that are not involved in putting this together (but I would’ve been fine with Solar in his place.) In CMLL Gaceta’s fourth part of it’s look back at Arena Coliseo, they refer to Ray Mendoza Junior’s match as a “farewell.” Some goodbyes are longer than others. The independent guys apparently have nothing to do with the Independent Invasors who have been busy invading for the last few years (even though some of these guys were in that group.)

Second match also wasn’t announced at the press conference (or at least didn’t make it out of there into reports.) The Metalico/Signo feud continues towards…some date.

CMLL (SUN) 04/07/2013 Arena Coliseo Guadalajara
1) El Divino vs Relampago Azul
2) Azteca de Oro & Black Metal vs Acertijo & Demonio Rojo
3) El Hippie vs Sádico
4) Gallo, Leo, León Blanco, Smaker vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Olímpico, Sangre Azteca, Virus
5) Negro Casas vs Máscara Dorada [NWA WELTER]
Negro Casas is champion, going for the sixth defense

Mascara Dorada winning a world title in his hometown would be super, and is probably not happening if they’ve already announced the Ultimo Dragon vs Negro Casas title match. Negro Casas quest to defeat all young tecnicos looks to continue.

Semimain is DF vs GDL. Olimpico is still heavyweight champion here, and Gallo & Leon Blanco would be considered heavyweights. Virus is still lightweight champion too, which could cover the other two guys.

Hippie and Sadico is the first singles match in their feud.

CMLL (MON) 04/08/2013 Arena Puebla
1) Meyer & Milenium vs Ares & Espiritu Maligno
2) Astral, Eléctrico, Stukita vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pierrothito
3) Estrellita, Lady Afrodita, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Princesa Sugheit
4) Ángel de Oro, La Sombra, Mistico vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
5) Shocker vs Rey Bucanero
losing team in last week’s tournament final
6) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero [CMLL TRIOS]
Bufete del Amor are champions, going for their eight defense

Bufete del Amor might be in a little trouble this time. They haven’t faced this configuration of the Guerreros prior.

Opener teams two of the young Puebla tecnicos.

  5. @lucas: Thanks for the results lucas.

I know everyone seems to have a wrestling school, but I’m still stunned Los Porros are teaching kids how to wrestle (and jump off buildings!)
