Freesbe & Robin vs Cholo & Zayco: an uninteresting opening match except for the really obvious screw up. Cholo seemed to forget what was going on, but Fresbee is the one who looked dumb and felt hurt. I think I like the idea of Zayco but not often the matches he\’s in. These guys are all about what skill they\’ve always been.
Camaleón, Höruz, Molotov vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Inquisidor: I don\’t know who this new Höruz is and when they replaced him with the other guy but he\’s good. Seriously, the crazy run up the ropes moves were impressive and he overall seemed much more confident than I can ever recall. Everyone else was about what you\’d expect, but it was nice to see someone look much better.
Diamante, Fuego, Sagrado vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Sangre Azteca, Skándalo: Not a usual lineup – the Tuareg seemed to be moved up a little bit here – but the match didn\’t feel that much different from usual. Sangre joining with Arkangel & Skándalo concentrated all the low blow dropkick in to one extended third fall period, which I guess is nice. You\’d think four of them in the same match might be a sign there\’s too many of them, but nah. I liked Arkangel better than usual here.
Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Valiente vs Felino, Negro Casas, Puma: better than expected. Comedy Felino has been running unimpeded of late, but he was toned down here in favor of having Puma work with all the técnicos a lot. Puma did well for himself as he usually did, and he and Guerrero Maya were really good together. Guerrero Maya is just great all the time, and it\’d be neat to see he and Delta get a shot at Terrible and Tonga. While I\’m pining for unlikely title matches, they should do Valiente vs Negro too!
Euforia, Niebla Roja, Último Guerrero vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión: This feud still hasn\’t made the rolling match of the year list I\’m doing, but it\’s been good all the way. This was another fun match, but I can keep thinking there\’s an epic one that doesn\’t end with a random foul; a minute more of near falls and it would\’ve made it. My silly list is beside the point. Ultimo Guerrero, out of a multi year rut, is the point. He seems mentally reinvigorated by teaming with Euforia and Niebla Roja. Everyone is playing their roles well. Pólvora and Niebla Roja is an odd combination, but they were actually really good against each other, especially in their early third fall brawl. It is weird that Niebla Roja\’s been so much better as a rudo, and he\’s essentially been rewarded by being in this feud where he\’s a técnico. Oh well. Dragon Rojo probably needs to stop doing the bad looking dropkick spot every match.
