recap

taped 2012-10-23 @ Arena Mexico

Cancerbero has no time for Sensei

Bengala, Metálico, Sensei vs Cancerbero, Hijo del Signo, Raziel: fine enough opener. Rudos looked good, Sensei’s block/counter shot bit gives him something different to do with anything and Metálico was a good character. Bengali was off early and improved in the third fall. Nothing too big here but appropriate for a segunda.

Fuego, Sagrado, Stuka Jr. vs Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis: Solid but devoid of surprise matches, except maybe Namajague being as Namajague as he can be. Stuka & Fuego did most of the stuff they usually do, Okumura and Sagrado did much of what they usually do (including a slightly misaimed moonsault.) It was professional but also the match you might have seen 20 times.

double heel kick of doom

Niebla Roja, Terrible, Tiger vs Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma: a going thru the motions match that might have been helped by whatever finish they originally had planned, but it went out the window when Angel de Oro got hurt. Tiger again looked better teaming and facing guys his own size, but I didn’t get much out of this one.

uh

Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Black Warrior, Mr. Águila, Volador Jr.: it’s pretty obvious something was wrong with Mr. Aguila in the limited time he actually wrestled in this match, and his partners did their best to limit his damage, so it had to be painfully obvious something was wrong with him to the people in charge. They didn’t really need him out there to set up the title match next week – Aguila probably could’ve handled waving to the crowd and standing in the ring post match – and it made both him and the promotion look poor in letting him go out there in his condition. It was disappointing this wasn’t a better match, but it was sad they let it happen.
