CMLL on Fox Sports (Mexico): 2012-09-01

recap

taped 2012-08-24 @ Arena Mexico

Camaleón & Starman vs Artillero & Súper Comando : Very solid opening match. Nothing super impressive, but without the botch spots the rookies have been having of late. The camera angles make a lot of difference; Artillero’s ode to CM Punk’s ode to KENTA looked a lot better when they had the right angle.

Foreshadowing?

Dalis la Caribeña, Estrellita, Luna Mágica vs La Seductora, Lady Apache, Zeuxis : an okay match considering who was involved. Zeuxis was easily the second best in this match. Luna was not bad, but when she’s the best tecnica, they really have some issues here. CMLL has a shortage of técnicas who are not either kind of annoying, kind of bad, or both and it doesn’t seem like it’ll get better unless they turn someone.

La Sombra, Rush, Shocker vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Último Guerrero : short, but another good build match o Terrible and Rush. They keep setting it up well. No one really got to do much because it was a five minute match, but what they did went okay.

  1. So was I the only one who thought they edited out an entire fall of that first match? Neither live report mentions anything about the match going two falls but…

    1) Openers are rarely 10 minutes long. They tend to go 15-20 since fans are still coming in.

    2) The edecanes are shown during the intros walking to the back but when they cut back to the action you don’t see them at the top of the ramp.

    3) CMLL 2 fall matches tend to have a strict formula and this match didn’t follow that formula. It really came off like they edited out an entire fall with the basic stuff where the rudos won and joined the second fall in progress as they were still in control.
