Kaiser Sports has two part interview with Puma King about the big mask match. His big point of emphasis is he’s proud to be part of the Casas family, but he wants to prove he can do it on his own. Puma wants to raise the name “Puma King” high, so don’t expect to see a family member in his corner, though he does say he’ll celebrate with them after. Puma feels he has the advantage in this match; he’s seen Rey Cometa wrestle for years so he knows all Cometa will do, but he’s got a few surprises saved up. Puma plans on training at 130%, so he can go 100% in the title match and have an extra bit in reserve if he needs it. Puma promises this match will be worth the ticket price alone.
In a separate interview with MedioTiempo, Puma again repeats the story about how he’s been a fan of Rey Cometa since he was a kid. That always seems suspicious, because Cometa has not been around that long, but Puma is also not that old. In this one, Puma says he even had a Rey Cometa mask. Puma says he started to train under Satanico without letting his father know. Puma says he’s not scared of losing, because some times the loser does better than the winner going forward, and anyway Puma is always a winner.
Atlantis did an interview, and mentioned how proud he was to be on every Anniversary show since he debuted in 1983. It is a good story, but maybe Atlantis’ memory must not be as good as it used to be. He was not last year’s show, and did not have a match on the 2005 and 1987 shows. Atlantis wasn’t on what I have as the 2002 Anniversary show (09/13), but on the 09/27 card CMLL has called the anniversary show. Same deal in 1995, where there are two different cards that could be the Anniversary show and he was only one one of them. He’s not on the 1991 lineup we have, but we could be missing an opener from that show. And, of course, no one was on the 1985 Anniversary show because the earthquake canceled it. Getting back to the point, Atlantis thinks himself versus Ultimo Guerrero should main event the 80th (next year’s) Anniversary show.
Julio Cesar Rivera & Miguel Linares were at Arena Puebla this Monday, so maybe they’ll be doing commentary live? It’s something they could do much easier in Puebla then Guadalajara, which would explain why they’d bother switching tapes. (That and more DF guys.)
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.
Rob has highlights of 02/10/12 CMLL and Chris Stone wiping out on a slippery Arena Coliseo ramp.

An actual Perros del Mal show!
top six stories of the last two weeks
- Terrible won the CMLL Universal Tournament over Hiroshi Tanahashi in a good match. Terrible also successfully defended the CMLL Heavyweight Championship over Diamante Azul and defeated Shocker in a non-title match, having all the momentum leading in to his hair match this Friday.
- Meanwhile, Rush lost a non-title match to Tanahashi in Puebla. Since Terrible beat Tanahashi and Tanahashi beat Rush, Rush is doomed.
- Mr. Niebla and Volador Jr. were suspended for two weeks after a singles match between them was deemed too bloody by CMLL management. Neither man are part of the Anniversary show lineup.
- AAA did not run a TV taping, but the lineup for their next major show snuck on the internet. Heroes Inmortales, October 8th in San Luis Potosi, has a domed cage match between the Bizarros, Jack Evans, and Perros del Mal. Jeff Jarrett returns for a no stakes trios match while Abyss & Chessan defend the tag team titles for the first time since May versus the deadly combination of Vampiro and Joe Lider. 44 different wrestlers will be in matches on the show.
- Dragon Rojo & Rey Escorpion have apparently decided they do not want to leave Los Guerreros, but want to run the trio and keep Ultimo Guerrero as a mute third man. UG has not seemed happy with this idea, and more problems with the team lead to them losing in a trios title match.
- yet another CMLL TV show debuted. Arena Puebla matches now on EstrellaTV, a US TV network, on Sunday afternoons.
