Can’t we just have a singles match that’s good? This card is packed with matches just trying to get more people on the card in weird ways. Minis match is the only simple one here.

Alan Stone has been on AAA shows as recently as last weekend, but has not been on TV since Rey de Reyes. AAA does not like to fire their luchadors, but will freeze them out of the better shows in order to punish them (or get them to quit on their own.) That’s seemed to be the case with Stone. Alan turned tecnico right before he left TV, which could be the explanation for the break up, should AAA feel the need to give on.

Blake has sometimes been associated with the Maniacos, and that continues in this match. Lolita & Fenix should be a fun duo. Apaches are the favorites. I do not know who Tommy Boy is, but wait a week and we may have a clue; he has the fortune to be on a Mexico City AAA show the night of TripleMania. The article oddly lists Sexi Star as one of the referees. This match  makes the most sense (which favors the Apaches more.)

I would root for anyone to beat Abyss & Chessman for the tag team titles, except Lider & Vampiro. It’s listed as an extreme match, but that doesn’t even need to be said with that quartet.

No idea what’s going on with the Copa Antonio Pena; it’s possible someone misunderstood something along the way and it’s really a gauntlet or battle royal. (The article calls it “duelo todos contra todos”, which points in that direction.) Those teams don’t make sense, not even an enemies team together fashion. First TV match for Zorro since June, first for Heavy Metal since April, and both have barely turned up on spot show lineups.

It’s not a big surprise they’re pushing off LA Park vs Jeff Jarrett until Guerra de Titanes. (And it won’t be a surprise when they push it off again until Rey de Reyes.) It’s nice to see pinning Kurt Angle has taken Electroshock from random participation in tag matches with Jeff Jarrett & LA Park to random participation in trios matches with Jeff Jarrett & LA Park.

Main event is built off the Lucha Libre Expo stuff, and also existing because they needed something to be the main event. Cibernetico climbing that cage is gong to be a scary thing. His knees can’t handle stairs! Cuervo has been dating Fabi Apache months but isn’t team with her in the tag tournament. Jack Evans is in the main event despite being a Bizarro. Remember, six months ago, when we thought we were Jack was losing his hair to Perro at TripleMania? What if they did they same final outcome without the build, and with six other people? That would not be cool.

Next taping is who knows.

Bufete del Amor keep their titles, Guerreros keep splitting up, Tanahashi leaves with a (tainted) win

CMLL (FRI) 09/07/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLLKaiser Sports (rest)Kaiser Sports (title)]
1) Camorra & Inquisidor b Höruz & Soberano Jr.
Rudos took 1/3
2) Arkángel de la Muerte, Nosferatu, Skándalo b Metálico, Pegasso, Starman
Metalico replaced Angel Azteca, as hinted in CMLL’s preview. Rudos won 1/3, Skandalo pinning captain Pegasso in both falls.
3) Dalis la Caribeña, Estrellita, Marcela DQ Amapola, Lady Apache, Tiffany
Dark Angel was listed but never actually appearing on the show. Estrellita took her spot. Tecnicas took 1/3. Marcela and Tiffany resumed feuding; Marclea was DQed for excessive violence on Tiffany in the second, Tiffany for the same in the the world.
4) Euforia b Sagrado [lightning]
Euforia won in 7:44 via Euforica Special.
5) Hiroshi Tanahashi, Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi b Black Warrior, La Máscara, Negro Casas, Valiente [cibernetico]
Elimintions went Namajague (by Valiente), Warrior (Taichi), Valiente (Okumura), Okumura (Negro Casas), Negro Casas (Tanahashi), Taichi (Mascara), Mascara (Tanahashi). Mascara had Tanahashi in the campana, but Taichi distracted the ref. Tanahashi let go, and Tanahshi droppped him and frog splashed him for the win.
6) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush b Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpión, Último Guerrero [CMLL TRIOS]
Ultimo Guerrero was not getting along with his teammates the whole way. Dragon Rojo won the first with a plancha and he and Rey Escorpion celebrated without UG. Rudos screwed up and tecnicos took the second. Marco surprised UG in the third to pin him and keep the titles. Rey Escorpion went after UG following the loss. Dragon Rojo (who teams with UG next week) broke it up and UG sadly walked away.

In post matches interviews, Marco noted this fifth defense was easier due to the rudo team not getting along, but they’re also in great form as a team. Maximo again offered to welcome Ultimo Guerrero to the tecnicos idea, though Rush felt different and wanted to fight UG in a mask vs hair match. Rush wants to fight everyone.

The CMLL Pequeno Estrellas told Universal that they were disappointed when CMLL did nothing for the division’s 20th Anniversary. The ones quoted sound unhappy and frustrated, but are careful to not be antagonistic towards CMLL. Demus notes Pequeno Valiente and Stukita have not been given debut dates, and that Bam Bam is back (!) but hasn’t been used.

There’s something odd here; I’ve been under the impression Pierrothito and Pequeno Olimpico are the two guys in charge of the pequeno estrellas division (in a wild coincidence, they both have title belts), and they’re among the quoted group unhappy about CMLL not using the minis in meaningful roles. However, CMLL definitely is using some of them in ongoing roles: Astral and Pequeno Nitro just had their mask match feud, and Mercurio and Fantasy seem headed to their own. Neither of those feuds are brought up in the article, even though the first mask match took place around the Anniversary date and seemed to be meant as that celebrations. It suggests there either some sort of split in the group, or the people who were in charge lost their power in recent shake ups.

Apolo Dantes says Gallo is debuting in Arena Puebla on Monday. He’s not on the listed card for that show. Maybe he takes Metalico’s spot since Metalico took the Friday spot?

Soul Rocker says he’s part of a trio of great danger. Soul is identified here as the one who got hurt in their debut match, which means the names do not match up like we thought they did during the match (and Soul is now probably Tito.)

DTU launched their YouTube channel with footage from their November 2010 Bipolar show. The video looks TVC Deportes produced – did they still have the show on TVC Deportes at that point? I forget.

An October Arena Quertaro show features both AAA & Familia de Tijuana wrestlers (though not Perros del Mal ones.)

Mini Charly Manson is gunning for Mascarita Dorada.

Crazy Star talks about wrestling in Japan.

The Polideportivo de CU school brought in AAA luchadors for a welcome back to school show for the kids.

Lucha Libre in Japan

09/08 NJPW: Ryusuke Taguchi, KUSHIDA, Alex Shelley & Mascara Dorada [O] b Low Ki, Rocky Romero, Alex Koslov & Averno [X] – after the match, Dorada took Koslov’s hat and did the hat dance!

The poster for NJPW’s Junior Heavyweight league (end of October/early November) includes a picture of Negro Casas as the sole Mexican representative. Taichi is on the poster; Namajague is not. Adjust your wagers for Sunday’s title match accordingly.
