DTU (SUN) 08/19/2012 Centro Banamex [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), La Copa, MT (2-4), MT (5), R de Rudo, R de Rudo (3), The Gladiatores]
1) Lucky Boy & Niño de Ébano b Kaleth & Lanzeloth and Nino Hamburguesa & Rocky Lobo [DTU AAACADEMICO]
2) Keira b Paloma Rouse, La Vaquerita, Lily Fighter
Hija de Karonte appeared to challenge Keira after the match.
3) Araña de Plata Jr., Ciclope, Pequeno Cobra, Terremoto Negro b Hormiga, Poison, Principe Halcon, Tacubo
Macizos get the win. Pequeno Ciclope did a dive off the entrance set. After the match, Ciclope threw down his DTU Alto Rendimíento title for lack of quality challengers and demanded a shot at the main DTU title.
4) Super Mega b Shiryu Dragon, Paranoiko, Rebelde Punk, Rey Latino, Pesadilla [DTU]
Shiryu & Rebelde bled. Pesdailla, not originally listed in the match, beat Super Mega to win the title. Ciclope challenged him to a title match.
5) Ricochet b Flamita, Drastik Boy, Eita, Eterno
Drastick did the required dive off a light standard on Eita & Eterno. Ricochet beat Flamita for the win with a shooting star press.

Los Rambos won in a Juniors promotion match in the secondary ring.

Black Terry Jr. has video of the Perros vs Bizarros fight from Saturday; about 10 people fighting and 100 people trying to take cameraphone pictures.

Marco Corleone declared Arena Mexico the best in the world.

Dr. Wagner Jr. in an Angry Birds mask.

4) Máximo & Rush b Exterminador & Mr. Niebla
5) Dragón Rojo Jr. b Titán
Titan missed the moonsault and Dragon Rojo submitted him for the win. Titan challenged mask vs mask. Dragon Rojo laughed and left.

There were Toryumon and IWRG shows yesterday, though results for either are no sure bet.

Everyone but Pirata Morgan has a title in the main event, so they’re probably setting up something.

08/19 AAA TV Results (Centro Banamex)

AAA TV (SUN) 08/19/2012 Centro Banamex [Black Terry Jr. (flickr), MT, R de Rudo]
1) Dinastía, Fabi Apache, Pimpinela Escarlata b Mini Histeria, Sexy Star, Yuriko
2) Daga, Dark Dragon, Psicosis b Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Samurai del Sol
Fenix replaced an injured Juvi, said to be from Daga the previous day. Prior to the match, Zema Ion appeared to tease a TNA vs AAA title match. Daga interrupted to say Juvi was already finished. Juvi slapped Daga, and the rudos beat Juvi up. Samurai del Sol was the surprise tecnico, but did not get along with his partners. Daga beat Samurai with a Destroyer.
3) Máscara Año 2000 Jr., Texano Jr., Toscano b Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown [AAA TRIOS]
Consejo kept the title. Hijo de Tirantes helped the rudos. Murder confronted him, and Mascara fouled Murder for the win.
4) Electroshock & Vampiro b Chessman & Último Gladiador
Rudos dominated, but Vampiro still won.
5) Chessman b Vampiro
After the previous match, Dorian & Konnan revealed Vampiro’s new AAA contract allowed Dorian & Konnan to put him in matches whenever they wanted and Vampiro must wrestle in them or he’d be kicked out of AAA. Chessman won in seconds.
6) Cibernético & Dr. Wagner Jr. DQ Halloween & Silver King
Tecnicos were about to win when the Traumas ran in and attacked Cibernetico. Perro Aguayo and the rest of the Perros were behind them, and the Bizarros were in next. Again, the two sides brawled all around the expo and out into the street.

Air Date: [shrug] – some future time, between 09/09 and 09/23.

The expo show is usually not the most newsworthy show, but a lot seemed to happen this year. This is probably one taping, which means match #2 will usually not make air on the national show, but hoping it does.

Thought last night that the Traumas showed up in the same way the Hijo de LA Parks and the Black Warriors and the Pesdaillas & Ragdes turned up back at the first Perros del Mal appearance in AAA, guys wearing the t-shirt who could be brought in easily (because they were already hanging around) and not because there was any plans to use them. If they were the first guys out attacking Cibernetico (and weren’t immediately laid out), then maybe the Traumas really are making the move to AAA. I’d settle for Billy/Scoria vs Traumas semimain tag matches on Perros del Mal shows.

I have a similar amount of skepticism about the TNA vs AAA build up here; until AAA guys actually show up in Orlando, nothing’s happened. It does fit with AAA’s plans of doing something in the US later this year, but they still have to do it.

Congrats to Chessman for finally winning something in his feud with Vampiro! Also, getting out of the hospital.

Next taping was announced as 09/18 in Ectaepec – almost one full month off! – but that’s subject to change.

Casas vs Oro for the gold?, FULL, PdM at the expo

CMLL @ Arena Coliseo

new guys/CMLL

CMLL (SUN) 08/19/2012 Arena Coliseo [CMLL]
1) Genesis & Höruz b Guerrero Negro Jr. & Herodes Jr.
Guerrero Negro Jr. is an unmasked rudo. Genesis is a masked tecnico. Both debuted here, Genesis got the win.
2) Fantasy, Pequeño Halcón, Shockercito DQ Mercurio, Pequeño Universo 2000, Pequeño Warrior
tecnicos took 2/3. Mercurio fouled Fantasy, and those two are feuding.
3) Pegasso, Starman, Stigma b Cancerbero, Hooligan, Nitro
Nitro pinned Starman to win the first fall, which will be his last win for a while. Nitro suffered a knee fracture in the second fall, which is thought to sideline him for six months. Tecnicos took 2/3.
4) Guerrero Maya Jr. b Misterioso Jr. [lightning]
Maya won in 4:29 in a slight upset and a quick time. No mention of any problems leading to the quick finish, looks like Maya just got a roll up out of the Gori Special.
5) Diamante, Diamante Azul, Valiente b Kráneo, Olímpico, Psicosis
Diamante Azul replaced Atlantis. This is the first time the two Diamantes have teamed in a CMLL main ring since the name change. Azul won with a german suplex on Psicosis.
6) Ángel de Oro, La Máscara, La Sombra b Felino, Negro Casas, Rey Escorpión
Angel de Oro submitted Negro Casas in the third, and asked for another shot at the NWA Welterweight championship. Negro declined, this week.

Nitro’s injury leaves the Tuareg at just Arkangel, Skandalo and Hooligan (who probably figures to be booked a bit more.) This is at least the second major knee injury for Nitro. He missed a lot of 7.5 months in 2009 after double knee surgery. If I remember right, problems with his knees led him from switching from the tecnico Filoso style to the rudo Nitro personality. It might have bought him a few years.

It was a bad Sunday for CMLL injuries. Electrico broke a leg at another Mexico City show (Sala de Armas – was Toryumon Mexico running Sunday?) No word on how long he’ll be out, but that sort of injury could keep him out many months.

Saturday’s Lucha Libre Expo  – I’ll have Sunday’s action and the AAA TV taping results in separate posts tomorrow.

FULL (SAT) 08/18/2012 Centro Banamex [Estrellas del RingMTR de RudoThe Gladiatores]
1) Randu b Angel Del AmorDr. Jekyll
2) Comando, Mini Cibernetico, Raider b Charly Madrid, Maiden, Mini Oriental
Rudos took 1/3.
3) El Hijo de Aníbal, Oriental, Super Calo Jr. b Bizarro, Canek Jr., Hijo de Pirata Morgan
Tecnicos took 2/3. Calo looked nervous early, got better as the match went on. Oriental was the best guy on his team.
4) Axel, Huracan Ramirez Jr., Tinieblas Jr. DQ El Hijo del Medico Asesino, Pirata Morgan, Scorpio Jr.
Medico replaced Hijo del Lizmark, and might be getting a big emphsas in this group. He feuded with Axel while Tinieblas and Pirata Morgan did the same. Pirata pulled Tinieblas’ mask and rolled him up for the win, but the referee figured it out later and called for the DQ. Medico unmasked Axel after the match.

Lizmark missing the main event is odd, since he was on the ElektroLucha show just prior. (Nothing interesting result wise happened there, except maybe Estrellita and Laredo Kid not appearing; it seems more like something you had to see; Estrellas del Ring does not sound like they liked it.) Lizmark didn’t miss the show due to  the rule against wrestlers working two shows on the same night, because that seems to be ignored this year – Mini Cibernetico worked the same two shows – but maybe the plans FULL has for Medico Asesino.

PdM (SAT) 08/18/2012 Centro Banamex [Black Terry Jr. (flickr)Estrellas del RingMTR de RudoSuperLuchasThe Gladiatores]
1) Celestial & Cósmico b Freelance & Mini Talisman
Champion Mr. Aguila “is going thru a bad time”, so Freelance took his place in the usual PdM minis match.
2) Douki, Ludark Shaitan, Zumbi b Black Thunder, Hanaoka, Taya Valkyrie
3) Durango Kid, El Seminarista, Juventud Guerrera b Daga, Trauma I, Trauma II
Seminarista is probably Skayde. Daga’s team controlled the match, but Juvi pinned him. Daga and Juvi challenged each other post match.
4) Violento Jack b Joe LiderAero BoyTribalLow RiderPeligro
Jack pinned Lider for the win after Psicosis fouled him. This might have been for the PdM Extremo title; same group of guys.
5) el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, Psicosis NC Héctor Garza, LA Park, Texano
Garza’s team tried to jump the Perros, only for the Perros to still get the drop on him. Perros took the first, handicuffing the other team. Park’s team took the second, breaking out of the handicuffs. In the grand tradition of Perros del Mal shows, this ended without a finish. Los Bizzaros – as Los Secta Bizarra (Ciber, Taboo, Billy, Cuervo, and apparent new recruits Espiritu and Mini Charly Manson) ran in to attack Los Perros. More Perros ran out, and the two sides fought thru the arena and the rest of expo. A glass class around a fire extinguisher was broken. Security eventually broke the fight up.

Video of Cibernetico and crew on the attack. The Bizarros/Perros feud seems to have made the jump from gossip shows to a the actual events. It’d show up again on Sunday. This is not the first time these two groups have feuded. The original version of the Bizarros faced the Perros del Mal during the short time Cibernetico ‘quit’ AAA. It is a strange left turn from where both leaders seemed headed after TripleMania, and leaves Mesias & Garza without any specific opponents. Or maybe just without any AAA ones…

In action not interesting enough to appear on this page in full, Black Terror Jr. won the mask of Xtreme Mysterio on the main event of the Promociones Black Terror Jr. show. This year especially, the Lucha Libre Expo is a three day festival of short lived vanity promotions, but that one takes the cake. Sahori “returned to Mexico after an international tour”, which I would find hard to believe if not for REINA.

Since none of the companies had invited them, Samurai del Sol & Zema Ion were visiting the Lucha Libre Expo as fans. [insert dramatic foreshadowing music]

Negro Navarro talks about his AULL Trios championship team.

Kaiser Sports notes include Guerrero Maya Jr. selling a t-shirt, Drago wearing bodypaint, and Magnus as the ‘surprise’ El Luchador guest.

Fresero Jr., looking less bulky than had in IWRG, says his future is in AAA. His father was a long time AAA referee.

Marco and some ladies danced on Saturday. As part of the show, I’m sure Marco does plenty of dancing.

Pirata Morgan Jr., Rey Escorpion and Kung Fu Jr. were interviewed.

R de Rudo visions the Talivision t-shirt shop.

08/19 Ice Ribbon:  Silueta b Hikari Minami
08/19 Stardom: Dark Angel b Saki Kashima [5STAR GP]
I tried (a bit, not especially hard) to find out how this tournament works, but no luck. It does last a while; Dark Angel has a match next Sunday, which makes it highly unlikely she’s back in Arena Mexico on Friday despite CMLL billing her as such. Typical CMLL weirdness.

By the way, when I find that 25th hour in the day, I’m going to start a tumblr blog where I just analyze wrestling tournaments all the time. It’s not a great leap from what I’m already doing, though I hope many of them will be better done than in CMLL.

Sicodelico Jr. was announced for the next Zero One tour. Sicodelico Jr. evidently still exists!
