I think lucha libre may be fake

Estrellita vs Princesa Sugheit in a lightning match : right finish? Right finish. I’m not as appalled as I think I’m expected to be. For one, they’re not doing anything with Sugheit and they’re (oddly) doing a lot with Estrellita so it makes sense. For two, Estrellita tries while Sugheit seems completely disinterested. Don’t get me wrong, Estrellita is not very good, but there’s an obvious effort there. Meanwhile, Sugheit is just doing the same kick spot over and over again. It’s a bit more hidden in trios matches, but not here. Sugheit is (was?) a powerlifter, but no longer does many strong spots. Sugheit is a trained wrestler, but didn’t do many interesting wrestling spots. She just kicks, kicks, and then takes the técnicas offense (usually okay, less so here for reasons that may not be entirely hers.) It’s not just about this match, because she does this all the time now.

a positive Sangre Azteca gif! (mostly for Triton)

Diamante, Hijo del Fantasma, Triton vs Ephesto, Sangre Azteca, Shigeo Okumura : Cold match for a lot of the way. The rudos set up the técnicos fine enough but were very plain when they were in control. When I’m glancing quickly at the action, I’m confusing Diamante for another wrestler, which is the idea. I’m confusing him for Sagrado, which is definitely not the idea. Alas!

Bucanero has the worst luck with mascots

Marco Corleone, Rush, Shocker vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger : shorter version of a normal match to build up Terrible vs Rush, but Terrible sure went down awful easy. I shouldn’t complain about clean finishes! Crowd seemed into the idea of them facing off, which is half the struggle.
