La Macsara keeps his title, Marcela vs Tiffany on 08/05, CMLL & the Expo
CMLL (TUE) 07/24/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL, Kaiser Sports (1-5), Kaiser Sports (title)]
1) Camorra & Misterioso Jr. b Camaleón & Soberano Jr.
Misterioso replaced Ramstein, and ran over the tecnicos for straight falls.
2) Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Violencia, Pequeño Warrior b Aereo, Fantasy, Último Dragoncito
Rudos took 1/3.
3) Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr., Rey Cometa b Namajague, Puma King, Shigeo Okumura
Cometa took Puma out with a tornillo at the finish, and the other tecnicos pinned the other rudos.
4) Marcela DQ Tiffany [lightning]
Tiffany attacked the ref again, refused the hair match challenge again.
5) Ephesto, Mephisto, Niebla Roja b Blue Panther, Stuka Jr., Valiente
Rudos took 1/3, Mephisto beating Panther with his own nudo lagunero.
6) La Máscara b Rey Escórpion [MEX LH]
Brazo de Oro seconded his son. Misterioso was Escorpion’s second. Mascara took 2/3 to keep the title, the last with the campana. Mascara repeated the mask vs hair challenge. Escorpion responded that it’ll happen when he wants it to happen (and he doesn’t want it to happen him now.)
Rey Escorpion has now been kicked out of his group and lost his only title shot since winning Black Warrior’s hair, but even being in a title match is a victory in CMLL’s system. There’s only a small group of guys CMLL trusts in those, and Escorpion has at least worked his way into them. This was Rey Escorpion first ever singles title match in CMLL (where the only singles wins he’s had were in Forjando un Idolo.) It can be very slow advancement in CMLL.
This was the seventh known defense for Mascara. Attendance was said to be good.
CMLL being CMLL, Tuesday’s show left the Marcela vs Tiffany feud with Tiffany refusing to put up her hair, then held an an unannounced press conference to announce the hair match a day later. Tiffany and Marcela will face off in a hair match on August 5th, the same day as some other show in Mexico City. This, like most of CMLL’s efforts to run against TripleMania when they run in Mexico City, will have little actually effect on TripleMania, but they try for the sake of trying. I do appreciate possibly being able to see some apuesta match on streaming video. Marcela’s the favorite.
Reports from the Lucha Libre: La Experenica press conference indicate the expo is not paying the promotions this year, and that’s why CMLL declined to run a show. (The official reason is still “scheduling issues“.) CMLL needs to do more outreach to their fans, especially those who’ve lapsed coming to Arena Mexico, but it’s understandable they don’t want to lose money running a show. (They only do those shows some Tuesdays.) Plus, if the expo got away with not paying all the promotions this year, no promotion is ever going to be paid to run at this show ever. The lesser level of participation must have not been known for a while, because a post-Father’s Day interview with Estrellita mentioned she and the other CMLL luchadoras would be doing another dance show at the Expo (and I guess they still might.)
X-Fly & Psicosis sniped at each other during the press conference, though it comes off like an angle (or something that will eventually be turned into one.) The FdT guys (left off Super Nova yesterday) will be appearing on the IWRG show, which will include a Copa Higher Power. Tinieblas is the Ambassador of the expo, presented a new Alushe, and also plugged the Copa Amigo de Siempre show in Arena Lopez Mateos.
Intocable appeared as figurehead of “Elektro Wrestling”, combining electronic music and lucha libre. They’ll have a show sometime during the Expo. Some of the other reports mention a (probably unrelated) concert that’ll end the expo.
LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

6) La Máscara, Super Porky, Titán vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger
The last show before the world ends. Or changes. Or whatever.
Titan in a main event! Rey Cometa fighting someone other than Puma King? This lineup must be a typo! Tiger v Titan might be a good idea, though maybe not much else.
Poor Amapola. Poor people who watch that match.
