Today was the press conference for “Lucha Libre: La Experienca”, the annual big Mexico City lucha libre expo. The promotions who will be puttoning on shows.
08/17: AULL & IWRG
08/18: FULL (Tinieblas Jr.) & Perros del Mal
08/19: DTU & AAA (TV taping)
No CMLL shows. They’ve been a big presence on these shows the last five years, but will only be doing autograph signings this year. The FULL shows are in their usual spot. It could be they just didn’t want to be around Perros del Mal, but no one’s said.
Those are just the main shows. There is a secondary ring with more events from small promotions. AAA has taped TV here in prior years, but seems unlikely with all the TV they’ll already have ready to air at that point. There’s a map of the booths on the website already, and they should have cards soon.
The press conference itself was lowlighted by tension between the Perros del Mal and the Familia de Tijuana groups. Perros del Mal at first refused to enter the room with FdT there before being cajoled in so they could actually start the press conference, then Zumbi was with them wearing a Perros del Mal shirt after last being seen with FdT (down to Damian, Bestia, X-Fly and Eterno.)
Today’s CMLL show has La Mascara defending his national light heavyweight title against Rey Escorpion, where the tecnico should hold on to his title. Feuds between Rey Cometa and Puma King (in a trios) and Marcela and Tiffany (in a lightning match for the mystery show) continue in the undercard.
Fuego en el Ring says the tecnicos actually won Sunday’s semifinal in Guadalajara by DQ, and mentions the tercera was full of run-ins.
Fuego en el Ring also confirms Sunday Arena Coliseo Guadalajara shows are moving to a 12:30 start, starting August 5th. On El Luchador, and realizing nothing on that show should be taken as the complete truth, it looked like the guys would drive down from Mexico City earlier that morning, with some time to kill before the show. That won’t quite work with this start time. Either the DF luchadors are leaving ghastly early in the morning, or they’re losing some of the Saturday small shows around Mexico City bookings, neither which would seem to make them very happy. Or, perhaps there’s just no more DF guys on Sunday shows?
Rush says he’s looking forward to facing “greats like Minoru Suzuki, MVP and Shelton Benjamin”. Rush believes the Mistico character is in good hands with his brother Dragon Lee. In a different interview Rush says it’s his dream to main event the Anniversary show, so taking Terrible’s hair there would be great.
Box y Lucha poster says Taurus is actually Ultimo Guerrero’s brother. Maybe it’s a Stuka I/Stuka Jr. situation where there’s a big age difference?
Lady Jaguar won the annual LLF Juvenil tournament. LuchaMania Monterrey has an interview with her.
Arena Aficion’s has a cage match tonight including a mini, a woman, and a Violento Jack.
Rob has clips of Ultimo Dragon’s debut, the original Mascarita Sagrada, Alushe wrestling, and a less than agile Dinamita.

AAA’s Rudos vs Tecnicso #3 magazine is really good.

Arena Queretaro’s poster now has the correct Mistico.

Lineups
CMLL (SUN) 07/29/2012 Arena Coliseo
1) Niño de Acero & Pequeño Halcón vs Mercurio & Pequeño Universo 2000
2) Molotov, Starman, Stigma vs Bobby Zavala, Disturbio, Nitro
3) Dark Angel, Goya Kong, Marcela vs Amapola, Princesa Blanca, Tiffany
4) Sagrado vs Pólvora [lightning]
5) Ángel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Valiente vs Black Warrior, Tiger, Vangelis
6) Atlantis, Marco Corleone, Máximo vs Kráneo, Morphosis, Psicosis
If they’re planning a big match to run on the next Sunday against TripleMania (not because it’ll mean much, but out of routine), it’s not very obvious from this lineup. Minis rematch in the opener, and Stigma from Puebla makes another appearance.
