Freesbe & Soberano Jr. vs Cholo & Ramstein: Another opening match that deserved to be an opening match. Soberano is improving but the técnicos had their usual hesitations and iffiness. The Cholo/Soberano stuff at the end was not good, and it had gone better than earlier of the way. Cholo has a lot of submissions for a guy who never wins.
Astral, Eléctrico, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Olímpico, Pierrothito: got fun in the third fall but not a lot stood out in the first two falls. Turned out fine, but there are better ones with this combo from around this time. Eléctrico and Demus are turning into one of the best matchups around, like to see them get a full match at some point.
Hijo del Fantasma, Sagrado, Valiente vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo: Not enough Valiente, way too much of everyone else. Sagrado in particular had way too many rookie moments where he was looking at his opponent, they were looking at him, and no one was quite sure what they were supposed to do. It felt like a match where they didn’t have anything worked out ahead of time (and the rudo team was a total sub, so perhaps they didn’t), but also weren’t able to work it out on their own (which is not so good.)
Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger vs Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Yujiro: strong build up to Terrible and Yujiro. Terrible seems in deep trouble. Namajague had an up and down match. The best part of Namajague are the moves, but the reaction and head shakes before and after them, which aren’t easy to mention in recaps.
Máscara Dorada, Shocker, Super Porky vs Ephesto, Mephisto, Mr. Niebla: another match where the wrong guy got in too little of the action. Máscara Dorada was just sort of around while Super Porky got to do the same comedy he does every week and Shocker and Niebla was the focus. Shocker was trying. Not the most interesting match and not the greatest finishes.
