CMLL (FRI) 06/01/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLLKaiser Sports]
1) Amapola, La Seductora, Tiffany b Dark Angel, Estrellita, Marcela
Rudas took two straight. Estrellita randomly challenged for a Amapola/Tiffany vs Esterllita/Marcela mask match.
2) Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr., Valiente DQ Namajague, Puma King, Shigeo Okumura
Tecnicos took 1/3. Puma, who came to the ring with Arissma’s mask, pulled Cometa’s mask for the DQ.
3) Diamante b Dragon Lee [En Busca de un Idolo] VideosOficialesCMLL
Both missed on their finishing flying moves (Diamante landing badly after his springboard 450, Dragon Lee landing on his feet on a missed SSP), then Diamante put Dragon Lee instantly tapped out. Diamante scored 28 points with the judges, Dragon Lee scored 26.
4) Titán b Euforia [En Busca de un Idolo] VideosOficialesCMLL
Titan wiped himself out on a bad dive, but recovered later on. Weird finish; Euforia shoved Tony Salazar away when recovering from a dive, then trapped Titan in the Nirvanalock. Titan was in the process of giving up when Salazar threw in a towel, and apparently that counts as giving up. Euforia thought he had won (and so did the fans.) Titan got 10s from everyone, but a 6 from Tirantes for a 36. Euforia scored a 22.
5) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger b Diamante Azul, La Sombra, Máximo
6) Rey Escorpion b Black Warrior [hairretro80s90s
Sombra & Dragon Rojo were seconds. Quick first two falls. Rey Escorpion took 1/3 to win, using a package piledriver in the third. Warrior was shaved and strechered out. Escorpion dedicated the win to Sonora and his family.
7) Atlantis, La Máscara, Shocker b Mephisto, Volador Jr., Yujiro
Tecnicos took 2/3.

The En Busca de un Idolo matches are another round robin, which will take it at least thru June 15th. Not sure how it ends; they’re doing the same polling and judging this time, but the contest can’t possibly end on a Wednesday poll result. Can it?

The En Busca de un Idolo news section mentioned last week that Ultimo Guerrero blames Tony Salazar for only one rudo making it to the final, blaming him for doing a bad job of the coaching. Salazar disagrees, feeling he’s responsible for Euforia getting this far. This week, the news section says Guerrero & Euforia have been working with a Secret Trainer, who has both tecnico and rudo skills. This would seem to have been the time to debut the new trainer, but no sign of him yet, just Salazar giving Euforia the loss.

My instant guess on the trainer was Satanico, since he’s a trainer, has been both tecnico and rudo, and has history with both. Both Euforia & Ultimo Guerrero are Laguneros, so another option could be someone from that region: a Blue Panther, or this might be a neat way to give Espanto Jr. some limelight. Julio Cesar Rivera has been mentioning him in Sombra matches of late.

Today’s the latest Todo x el Todo show. Main event is Demon, Santo, and Mascara Sagrada vs Fuerza Guerrera, Angel Blanco and Hijo del Solitario. The promotion started as Santo vs Solitario feud, with Blanco being positioned as the obstacle in Santo’s path, but the latest interviews have moved away from Solitario and towards Fuerza.

Bill has highlights of the 09/21/1990 CMLL 57th Anniversary.

LuchaWorld has Freelance, Maximo, and Fenix on the top 100, and KrisZ’s news report.

AAA confirms TripleMania is August 5th.

Shocker says the next season of El Luchador airs in October.

Lineups

CMLL (FRI) 06/08/2012 Arena Mexico
1) Leono & Robin vs Apocalipsis & Cholo
2) Eléctrico, Pequeño Halcón, Último Dragoncito vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Violencia, Pierrothito
3) Estrellita vs MarcelaDark AngelLady ApacheDalis la CaribeñaLuna MágicaLady AfroditaAmapolaTiffanyLa Seductora [cibernetico]
4) Diamante vs Euforia [En Busca de un Idolo]
5) Titán vs Dragon Lee [En Busca de un Idolo]
6) Atlantis, Black Warrior, Delta vs Mr. Águila, Psicosis, Volador Jr.
7) Marco Corleone, Máximo, Rush vs Rey Escorpion, Último Guerrero, Yujiro

They’re pushing that the package piledriver Rey Escorpion won with might seriously injured Black Warrior’s neck, so I sort of expect him not to actually wrestle here. Both top two matches look like possible setups for trios title matches.

In last night’s chat, the idea came up that multiple women’s feuds might be setting up a women’s cage match. CMLL is already advertising  a special Father’s Day show for next week. Pieces might fit together.

  1. CMLL on GalavisionMexico is what Cubs predicted. They said the hair match airs next week.

  2. I gotta think Black Warrior is turning for sure next week. Perfect opponents to turn on and perhaps will set up some sort of trios titles match with Atlantis/Delta/Maya against Aguila/Psicosis/Warrior.

  3. Why did CMLL go off 10 minutes before the hour? There’s no live sports on Galavision today, so there’s no reason for it.

  4. Reading the Prichard thread on WON about his conquests and hitting on girls. Well, I remember asking what the hell “Armando Fernandez” meant, and was told that was the name of a neighbor in Houston who Prichard had a crush on. I also remember seeing Patterson sitting with his arm around Prichard at MSG in the crowd, watching the matches from an empty 300 section. I went up to Patterson to ask him something and Prichard was so embarrassed, but what could he do? Patterson ran things at the time.

Anyway, that’s where the name Armando Fernandez comes from. He was Bruce’s neighbor in Houston.

  5. @Alan: Did you catch Jujiro trying to assault the edecan pre-match?

Really fun match when the MEXICANS were in the ring.:p I could watch Sombra/Volador all day long and Dorada is just perfect in execution these days. I hope CMLL does Dorada/Volador at some point this summer.

  6. @Rob: I did notice the Yujiro/edecan thing, but I was distracted by my three year old daughter telling me that she only liked the dancing girls on the show.

I thought the match was fun overall. Yujiro seems less into this than the No Limit run.
