CMLL (FRI) 03/30/2012 Arena Mexico [CMLL]
1) Astral & Último Dragoncito b Niño de Acero & Pequeño Violencia
Tecnicos took 1/3.
2) Ángel de Oro, Black Warrior, Hijo del Fantasma b Ephesto, Pólvora, Rey Escorpion
Tecnicos took 1/3, though Escorpion did sneak in a cradle on Warrior in the second. They’re still feuding
3) Euforia & Terrible b Máscara Dorada & Titán [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
4) Blue Panther & Rey Cometa DQ Negro Casas & Puma King [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
Negro fouled Blue Panther for the DQ
5) Niebla Roja & Último Guerrero b La Máscara & Pegasso [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
6) Dragon Lee & Rush b Bobby Zavala & Rey Bucanero [Gran Alternativa, eightfinal]
7) Euforia & Terrible b Blue Panther & Rey Cometa [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
8) Dragon Lee & Rush b Niebla Roja & Último Guerrero [Gran Alternativa, quarterfinal]
9) Mephisto b Delta [lightning]
Mephisto won in 8:56.
10) Euforia & Terrible DQ Dragon Lee & Rush [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]
Rush was the first one eliminated, followed by Euforia. That left Dragon Lee vs Terrible, and just when Terrible had powerbombed Lee for the possible win, Rush re-entered for the DQ.
11) Prince Devitt b Volador Jr. [NWA MIDDLE]
Crowd was strongly behind Volador. Mascara was Devitt’s second, Mephisto was Volador’s second. Volador took the first with a backcracker, Devitt took the second, and Devitt won a long third fall with the Bloody Sunday. Devitt is the 4th champion.

Devitt’s heading back to Japan on Monday, so the CMLL luchadors will have to chase him down there.

Euforia, a 37 year old wrestler and a 22 year veteran, is one win away from being the young star of the year. Or they just want him in the final to make someone look good.

AAA posted scattered facebook messages and photos from last night’s taping, but no full results. Not sure if we’ll get them before the next taping. Important parts I can put together

  • Garza’s nominated himself as the next challenger to Mesias. Doesn’t quite sound like a TripleMania main event.
  • Teddy Hart was very involved in the main event.
  • Drago took Daga’s spot versus Consejo
  • I’m still not sure who the mystery women was.
  • Hombre sin Nombre seems much thinner.
  • Crowd did not look good on fan photos I saw; they did herd people around enough so it’ll look OK on TV.

Tonight is the latest Todo x el Todo show, headlined by the Hijo del Santo vs Angel Blanco Jr. vs Hijo del Solitario mask match. Almost all believe Angel Blanco Jr. is losing his mask. The only source of debate is who will win it. Solitario taking the mask may make him a stronger challenger for down the line (though it’s far from sure they’ll do that match), but most people are probably showing up to see Hijo del Santo win.

El Hijo del Santo talks about his career with MedioTiempo in hype for his show. There’s useful stuff in there, and there’s also ludicrousness stuff. Santo says he had success because he never acted like a star. Santo implies WWE only brought in Rey Misterio Jr. because he left Super Astros (and he would’ve had the same success.) Santo claims he’d go back to Arena Mexico is everyone in charge got fired. Santo would actually go back to Arena Mexico today if they paid him what he wanted. His son is training with Solar, and may debut with a different name.

By the next update, there will also be the AAA taping in Pachuca, and the first post-Familia de Tijuana show for Perros del Mal.

LuchaWorld has Alfredo on CMLL 03/03/12.

2) Ángel Azteca Jr. vs Súper Comando [lightning]
3) Atlantis & Triton vs Hombre Bala Jr. & Marco Corleone and Fuego & Super Porky and Diamante & Valiente and Raziel & Volador Jr. and Bronco & Mr. Niebla and Cancerbero & Mephisto andFelino & Hijo del Signo [Gran Alternativa, semifinal]

Odd for an announcer to be wrestling in the main event, but welcome back Dragon Rojo.

Atlantis & Triton look like the strong favorites for the block (and tournament) win. Diamante & Valiente are the only team that looks like they have a chance.

6) Joe Lider vs Tony Rodriguez
Shiryu Dragon will be special referee

Daga Dyanmic Dojo show, so Daga’s expecting to be back by this time. Bandillero is from Chicago’s GALLI, their current champ.

  1. I don’t mean to be a busybody, but you may have mislabeled the Gran Alternativa “final” from last night’s Arena Mexico show. It just confused me when I saw the bit about a semi-final in the lineups.

Sorry if this is just another convoluted CMLL concept I failed to pick up.

  2. 4/6 – Arena Neza (TV taping)
    1. Fabi Apache/Lolita/Mascarita Dorada vs. Sexy Star/Mini Psicosis/Luchadora Sorpresa
    2. Atomic Boy/Relampago/Super Fly vs. Angel Mortal/Gallego/Tito Santana
    3. Cuervo/Joe Lider/Ozz vs. Dark Dragon/Octagon/Ultimo Gladiador
    4. Daga/Drago/Heavy Metal vs. El Consejo (Hijo del Texano/Mascara Ano Dos Mil Jr./Toscano)
    5. Dr. Wagner Jr./Electroshock/Jack Evans vs. Perro Aguayo Jr./Chessman/Nicho el Millionario

  3. Any time they want to stop listing Daga on shows he’s not working, that would be great

  4. Since CMLL/AAA and everyone else seems to list guys who they know damn well in advance are not going to be working, it doesn’t seem like it is something that is being overlooked every time, or even coincidence – is it possible listing guys in line-ups could have something to do with how they have to pay them/not pay them for missing shows. Like, for example with Daga – since he was already booked for these shows might the union force them to list Daga anyway, so that he can get some kind of payday since he was hurt working on a show? Or, like when Dr. X was obviously long gone from CMLL and they kept listing him – could it have been so that he would actually “no show” and then they wouldn’t have to pay him?
