CMLL (MON) 12/19/2011 Arena Puebla [Porra Fresa]
1) Akron & Ares b Black Tiger & Silver
Rudos took 2/3. First Silver match since June.
2) Leono, Molotov, Starman b Artillero, Disturbio, Súper Comando
Tecnicos take 1/3.
3) Cancerbero, Misterioso Jr., Raziel b Ángel Azteca Jr., Pegasso, Stuka Jr.
Rudos take 1/3.
4) Black Warrior, Blue Panther, Máximo DQ Felino, Mr. Águila, Pólvora
Suspended Blue Panther wrestled anyway. Felino attacked him before the whistle. Straight falls for the tecnicos, Felino fouled Panther.
5) Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Volador Jr. b Atlantis, La Máscara, Rush
Rush replaced Mascara Dorada. Tecnicos took 1, rudos 2. Mascara had Terrible in la campana, but Tirantes was looking the wrong way. La Mascara let go to yell at Tirantes, and Volador snuck behind him for the backcracker and the win. Volador challenged Mascara to a singles match.
Much improved attendance, according to the recap. I can almost not believe they’re setting up another La Mascara singles match, but then again I can totally believe it. Nice serious suspension here.
Other News
The Wrestling Observer newsletter says Guerra de Titanes drew 8,500 and Sin Piedad 6,400. Both shows got write ups – positive on the AAA show, very down on the finish to Panther/Felino. Meltzer had the same thought on Mascara Ano 2000 Jr. – someone from CMLL backed out at the last minute (which seems to be a continual nuisance for AAA), but we don’t know exactly who. This line amused me:
While they tried to keep the Vampiro return quiet, word did leak out a few hours before the show started.
Perhaps they should’ve told Vampiro not to Twitter about it?
Today’s the big Oficial 911 & Trauma II vs Oficial AK47 & Trauma I relevos suicidas match. The IWRG show also has two more title matches. The Gladiatores usually has internet radio broadcasts of the show, hopefully they’ll be covering this one. AK-47 seems the most likely to lose; it’d be a big surprise if either Traumas lost, and Trauma I is the more successful on here. No one loses more consistently then IWRG created characters in IWRG, but the Oficials have had a lot stronger and longer run than most. I usually like my matches one on one, but I do hope this match features run-ins by every Oficial possible, including the one who showed up for a run-in and never actually had a match.
Blue Demon Jr. talks about battling lymphoma. It’s fantastic he’s been able to beat back cancer and continue his career. Meanwhile, Blue Demon Jr. has also been telling people that CMLL is going to make their own Blue Demon. CMLL has invited Blue Demon’s actual son for appearances on shows, and did mention Blue Demon on last week’s show, but there’s no actual evidence that they’re introducing a new luchador. (This would probably be as bad idea as a new Mistico, and they haven’t pulled the trigger on that either.) The real important truth here is it really doesn’t take much for people to believe a rumor involving CMLL. Especially a negative one – whether it’s another Blue Demon, selling Arena Mexico, or everyone leaving, it sticks and CMLL does nothing to correct it. I would never suggest people start making up rumors about CMLL to see what they get people to believe, but it probably would not be too hard if you did.
Dia de Inocentes is next Wednesday, by the way.
Black Terry Jr. posted video of Cerebro Maligno, Robin Maravilla, Sádico, Terry 2000 b Aerostar, Argenis, Gato Eveready, Súper Fly from February.

Lineups
AULL (SUN) 12/25/2011 Arena Lopez Mateos
4) Rey Kristal, Super Panda, Tortuguillo Ninja vs Hombre sin Rostro, Kilvan, Ronny Ventura
5) Flamita, Súper Nova, Yakuza vs Epitafio, Herejía, Trauma II
6) Iron Love vs Chico del Barrio [hair]
7) Ray Mendoza Jr. & Villano IV vs Héctor Garza & Texano Jr. [UWA TAG]
Christmas is looking like one of the busiest day of the year because it falls on a Sunday. We know Garza and Texano are working here and Neza. The CMLL guys going to Laguna are working at least two different places now. I figure that means a lot of people are working lots of places.
CMLL (TUE) 12/27/2011 Arena Mexico
1) Bengala & Camaleón vs Cholo & Zayco
2) Astral, Fantasy, Shockercito vs Mercurio, Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Warrior
3) Diamante, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Cancerbero, Nosferatu
4) Black Warrior, Titán, Triton vs Olímpico, Psicosis, Virus
5) Ángel de Oro, Hijo del Fantasma, Super Porky vs Averno, Dragón Rojo Jr., Mephisto
No Angel de Oro vs Dragon Rojo title match quite yet. Maybe 2012.
Black Warrior mentoring would be funny. Olimpico should spend the match trying to get Titan & Triton to turn. I wonder which one is Virus’ project. He sticks out there.
I’d replace Arkangel with Skandalo just to have a full match of flying guys vs round guys. This is why you should never take my opinion seriously.

Isn’t Panther’s suspension working only on Distrito Federal shows?
@snatodomen: It’s a CMLL storyline deal, so it probably should be effective wherever CMLL wants people to take their own storyline seriously.
DF is supposed to be the national suspension. In theory, their suspensions should be honored elsewhere. That may be a bit of a stretch.
Honest question – when the commission got all worked up about the Silver King re-masking, it got publicity, and King & AAA backed down… Although King would eventually remask anyway.
Does your average fan think that the Commission has actual power, or are they looking at this Panther suspension kinda like the King stuff, and that the commission is pretty much a joke? Not talking about the fans that understand this is an angle (and a poorly executed on at that).
The CMLL storylines are almost never a serious thing so… however, your have the reason, sorry :)
@Nikita: I think they fans do believe the commission is legit, that I don’t have much to back it up.
I read message board comments complaining about the commission not doing this or that, but message board comments do not represent the average fan.
Santo’s last column included him demanding the commission make CMLL defend the national titles versus his guys. I don’t think Santo believes the commission can actually do this, but that the people reading his column believe the commission could actually do this. Though Santo’s not done the best job of reading the fans in recent years.
I wonder if WON saw GDT on youtube before giving it such high praise? I thought the main event outside interference, ref bump, brass knuckles, refs recovers for fast count and title change was pretty lame. I would have pissed if I paid to see that on PPV.
I liked Mesias vs. AJ.
Overall the workrate was below what it should have been and I blame the six-sided ring which kills everyone’s timing.
@LLL: Dave’s not big on watching video on his computer, so he probably wasn’t the one who watched the show.
It surely was the same guy who praises nearly everything AAA does, who pretends AAA and PdM attendance numbers to be larger than they look, who keeps disappointments like the empty Arena Aficion at the AAA taping last month a secret, and who pretends everything CMLL does is even worse as it already is.
Reading WON is sometimes like reading AAA press releases. It would be interesting to know how many of their sources are persons who are on CMLL’s long boycot list.
@ringo:
To correct myself, the nearly empty arena was not Arena Aficion, it was the Lienzo Charro of Pachuca.
Dave’s reports are usually a combination of what KrisZ and Dr. Lucha get as far as reports from people in Mexico w/ some tidbits from Konnan. I don’t know why this is news to anyone on here anymore. Its no big secret.
@thecubsfan: Yeah, I always kinda gleaned that the commissions actually do serve a regulatory function on the very periphery of the sport, but that participation was pretty much voluntary. Like, it is basically a group that can get the ear of the press if someone is doing something “shady” – like not honoring a stip, etc., and put public pressure on them to “do the right thing”. It just seems like if you are going to work angles with the commission, you cannot turn around and ignore them at other times when it screws up your gimmick, because once you put out the idea that the commission doesn’t have any *real* power, it will become irrelevant to the fans – and thus ruin any future angles.
As far as the WON… I honestly do not think dirtsheets like that have been relevant for much since around the time ECW and WCW folded up shop. Rarely does Meltzer break any real news about anything anymore, and (for good or bad) much of the publication is about MMA now. Dave gets most of his international news from other sources, so he isn’t actually reporting on them himself – just passing along info others have given him. The WON has a reputation as where to go for *real* wrestling news, but most people do not understand that Meltzer is mostly living off his rep, and that the publication is mostly opinion and analysis of stuff now, and doesn’t do any real reporting or investigative stuff. Take what I say with a grain of salt though, I went to school for Journalism, and I view things a little differently for that reason.
@Alfredo:
That’s not what I meant. Dr. Lucha isn’t a primary source, his “connections” have to be the ones who try to present AAA better and more successful than it is, and CMLL even worse than it is.
